Collapsing on the ground, Tiberius's eyes were wide with pain as he continued screeching. His spine hurt badly. It felt like something was out of place. His sharp talons dug up the dirt and grass while blood welled up from the wound on his back just slightly below his shoulders. The rock that had hit the old red tailed hawk lay nearby, one side stained with crimson. Seeing what had happened but too slow to do anything to prevent it, Gidget rushed over to her friend's side. "It's okay, I'm right here," she spoke softly, trying to calm him down. At that moment, she heard running footsteps. She turned around.

"Quick, run! We'll take care of this predator!" a Great Dane barked. To his right was a Siamese cat while a corgi was on his left. The corgi was carrying a slingshot in his mouth. All had looks of concern and hatred on their faces. Concern towards Gidget while hatred towards Tiberius. Realizing that they had been the ones who fired the rock with the slingshot, Gidget growled at them while putting herself in between the trio and Tiberius. That sure surprised the others. Clearing her throat, the Siamese meowed, "Run. We got this." Her white fur bristling angrily, Gidget snarled, "How bout you leave?"

"We're trying to save you from this monstrous beast!" the Great Dane exclaimed as he gestured a paw towards Tiberius, who was still crying out in agony. As if to emphasize his words, the very large dog whipped out a stick while the cat unsheathed her claws. The corgi was reaching into a bag for a stone to use for his slingshot. Not moving from her position, Gidget retorted, "The monstrous beast you so call is my best friend! Leave him alone!"

"He is a wild animal!"

"Who happens to be domesticated like you and me!"

"You realize that he's been attacking many-"

"That's not him!"

"You don't know that."

"Yes I do! Cuz I trust him! Now get before I make you!"

"I'd like to see you-" the Great Dane was saying when Gidget suddenly punched him in his big nose. The large dog cupped his paws over it while a little bit of blood trickled out from one nostril. The Siamese and the corgi were too stunned to say a word. Whimpering, the Great Dane turned and fled, his friends close behind. Huffing, Gidget turned around and returned her attention on Tiberius. The old hawk was in great pain, shaking all over and screeching. Seeing a small bump on his back where the stone had hit him and the way his spine seemed to be bent out of place, she hugged him gently. Helping him up to his feet and letting him lean against her shoulder, the Pomeranian whispered to the injured hawk, "Come on, let's get you over to Pops."
