Chapter 4

●●●

It was about a month later, two months into his seperation with Jimin, that Jungkook decided to do something stupid.

He still hadn't gotten better at all. Jimin was still as ever present in his mind as he had been before. Maybe even worse.

Jungkook missed Jimin.

Missed Jimin with everything he had. And if there was one thing movies told you about dealing with heartbreak it was to get a rebound...

And while that usually went wrong in all of those movies, there had to be a reason so many people tried it... right?

So after stalking some of his friends on Insta for a while he found out there was going to be a party at a girl's - he had never actually talked to her but she seemed nice - vacation home that was basically open to anyone who wanted to come.

Jungkook had never really gone to any parties aside from those Jimin had made him come to, but he was pretty sure he would manage.

He simply had to dress up in tight jeans Jimin had always told him looked good on him and a white t-shirt. He knew this look could never be wrong even if it was simple.

Getting to that party turned out to be harder than Jungkook had anticipated.

He was pretty close to just leaving the bus he was riding, because of all the doubts filling his head. What the fuck was he doing there?

He wasn't a party goer.

He wasn't into hook up culture.

He got drunk way too quickly.

He had no clue how to talk to people.

How had he ever thought this was a good idea?

But then he remembered that if he had stayed at home he only would have done his thirtieth rewatch of Inside Out and cried himself to sleep.

And suddenly getting wasted and doing regretful things just to forget about Jimin for a couple of hours sounded a lot more appealing.

"I can do this." He muttered to himself as he made his way across the lawn to the building that was clearly the one he had been searching for.

There already were drunk teenagers sprawled out on the lawn. Some playing games, some just staring up at the stars.

The music coming from the building was another good indicator.

"I can do this..." he repeated to himself like a mantra. He just had to stop thinking about Jimin.

Jungkook could not do this.

He had spent about half an hour awkwardly walking around the stuffed rooms where everyone was partying, downing one drink after another, hoping he would get drunk soon.

Then he had managed to talk to one guy, who had had to leave soon after.

Then a somewhat drunk Jungkook had once again started wandering around, feeling very much out of place. Everybody else here was here with their friends.

He didn't really know anyone. He was an outsider. If he were Jimin he probably wouldn't have cared.

Simply would have sat down with a group, making a cheeky comment, and suddenly he would have been part of that group.

But that was Jimin... not Jungkook. And all Jungkook was capable of was growing more and more anxious as the alcohol started taking effect, only worsening all his negative emotions.

And then the worst thing that could possibly have happened happened. Just when he expected it the least he turned around and spotted Jimin.

Jimin, who seemed perfectly fine. Jimin, who was smiling at the tall guy standing right in front of him, facing away from Jungkook.

Jimin, who was clearly having fun here with someone who wasn't Jungkook.

And Jungkook's vision started to blur.

He just about made it to the bathroom before tears started dripping down his face.

Just about managed to close the door behind him, totally forgetting about locking it before he started ugly crying.

Jimin was capable of being happy without Jungkook. Jungkook was not. He missed his best friend so much, but he knew that all of this was necessary for him to get over Jimin.

All this pain was something he would have to endure.

So he just sat there and cried. Maybe if he had been sober he would have been more careful about being quiet, but he couldn't get himself to care when it hurt so much.

It felt like his heart was being ripped out.

He didn't hear when the door to the bathroom opened and someone stepped inside.

He didn't hear when the door to the stall next to him opened and someone went inside.

Jungkook was too busy being miserable to think about anything happening around him.

It was only when he heard a soft voice speak up that he noticed that the scent in the bathroom had changed.

His distressed scent wasn't the only one dominating the air he was breathing anymore.

There was another scent now. A soothing alpha scent.

"Everything okay?"
