Gif of Danica's wolf to the sid

Rena's POV***

"Keep your fists up to block!" Danica said as she showed me. I frowned as I raised them higher so they were equal with my face. We were in the gym where the pack wolves sparred and trained. There were many different sections. There was a place for lifting weights, actual one on one contact with others, and even a room where you could even practice as wolves. Right now, I was in the one-on-one section with Danica as she taught me the basics.

Damon and her weren't kidding when they said it wouldn't be easy. These are the basics and I'm sweating buckets!

A fist to my stomach sent me falling backwards. I landed on my butt with an oomf. This was embarrassing.

"Your stance is off. Place your good foot in front, and and your other behind to give you balance. Elbows raised, yes like that," She said as I stood, struggling to get into position.

She had her hair in a pony tail, and there wasn't a hair out of sight. Unlike me, where as my hair was sticking out in all directions in its braid.

"I thought you were a pack doctor, not a fighter," I growled in exasperation as I jumped from her foot swiping underneath me. Finally, at least I could dodge something.

"Pack doctors need to know how to fight too. We can't just be little dandelions, putting band-aids on other people's scratches. When the pack has to fight or defend itself, everyone that has the ability to fight must chip in. Of course not children or elders. But I do more than save lives, I protect them," She said as she aimed for my stomach. I shrieked, turning my head and holding out my fist to stop the impact.

I waited for the collision, but it never came. I turned my head, opening one of my clenched eyes.

"Holy shit!" She exclaimed as she backed away. I turned to face her again to see her holding her hand in pain.

"Did we collide knuckles?" I asked, staring at my healthy hands. She groaned before rubbing hers.

"Yeah, don't you feel it? That hurt like a bitch. A fat bitch. Eating twinkies!" Danica said before examining the blood on her knuckles. Confusion and fear consumed me.

"Well I feel it, but, it doesn't hurt that bad. Sorry I messed up your hand. I-is something wrong with me? " I apologized, hoping she'd still be my friend.

"It's ok, but damn. Ok, I want to try something. But not on me. You've been ducking or at least trying to," She began with a laugh, making me frown, "but your punches from the look of it - are kick ass. So here's what I'm gonna do. Stay here!" She said, pointing to the mat beneath us. I nodded as she bounded of across mats and passed other sparrers. I fell to my butt, huffing.

I was exhausted. This was hard.

So far, I've done 350 sit ups - which took 45 minutes while it her at least five minutes. Then we did 40 push ups. We didn't do as many since my arms are still really weak and bony. We did 200 squats and wall sits for 15 minutes without stopping. This was only day 1 and we've been at it for hours. It was an understatement to say that I was exhausted.

It seemed so easy for Danica, and such a challenge for me. It was embarrassing to say in the least. But I'm glad she's not taking it easy. I want to prove that I could be just as good as other wolves.

She returned with a guy. He was tall, bald and had bulging muscles. I guessed he was in his mid 40's. Gulping in fear, I sent a silent prayer we wouldn't be fighting this guy.

"Name's Tucker, but all mah frien's call m'Tuck," He said with a deep southern accent. I shook his hand as he held it out. He was huge and buff.

"Thanks for this Tuck. I want you to punch him," Danica said with a grin.

"B-but, I don't think I should! I mean, what if . . he could like . I don't know get hurt or something!"

[Yeah, or we will] My wolf scoffed.

"Don't worry little lady, no one can take down this here bulldozer," He chuckled, flexing his byceps. Danica laughed.

"Ok, ok. Rena he'll be fine, and so will you so quit your worrying. Just punch the guy!" She said with a laugh. Tuck turned to the side, showing me his arm. I gulped, readying my fist. I closed my eyes, sending my fist to connect with his arm.

I opened my eyes to see him a few feet back, grasping his arm. I felt my heart jolt and panic rise.

Tuck began rubbing his sore spot with wide eyes. How . . ?

How did I do that? I asked my wolf, but she was too astounded to reply. We were taking hits, and when I gave one, he stumbled back a few feet! How could I have done that? Is this a prank?

"Rena your punches are incredible! You made Tuck of all people fly back a few feet! Oh God imagine you in battle!" She said, nearly jumping up and down in excitement.

Tuck grinned as he walked over.

"You have incredible strength. I've never seen the bravest of fighters or Alpha's punch someone and make them fly back like that. Plus - no offense - your a girl and have had no training whatsoever. I believe you should mos' definitely tell Alpha Damon. He'll shit a brick when he finds out his mate is powerhouse!" He said with a loud and gruff laugh.

"Is there something wrong with me?" I asked nervously, fiddling with my fingers.

"Who knows? But that was awesome and so out of this world! Let's see what will happen in wolf form! Let's go to the back room to shift!" Danica said, racing off. I swallowed nervously, following suit as Tuck began to walk away with a laugh.

I came to the hallway, following Danica's scent. Following her into a room, I saw a white and silver petite wolf with glowering eyes. Danica sat down, licking her paw. She looked at me expectantly. I felt myself grow nervous. The last time I shifted into my wolf was three weeks ago when I fled Sunscorch. It was a painful shift, but shouldn't be as bad as it was that time.

"Um, please turn around," I whispered. She rolled her eyes before turning to face the wall, her fluffy tail sprawled on the ground. I sighed, closing the door. I quickly shrugged off my clothes, forcing myself to shift - which was a bit difficult because my bones and tendons were getting used to the position. Suddenly, I was there in my white wolf. I stood up on my paws, getting the feel of being on all fours again. I flicked my ears back and forth, swished my tail and shook my neck. It felt good to be back in this body.

I growled, signifying Danica I was ready.

Immediately she turned and all I saw was her paws and her open jaw, pouncing at me in midair. I gasped in shock. She was so fast in this form! I did the only thing I could, dropping to my back, and letting her fall to the other side, tumbling against the wall. She licked her lips, getting into a defensive crouch, ears splayed back. I performed the same position, getting ready.

With Danica it was always be prepared unless you want to end up blue and purple.

She slowly began to pace to the other side. I kept my eyes transfixed on her. Then in a flash, she pounced at me. I back-stepped a little late for she clamped her teeth on my forepaw, dragging me. This situtation reminded me of when I ran from Larson and when he was dragging me, so I did the same thing.

I twisted, which did a hurt a bit, but caused her to let go, before kicking her jaw. She whimpered as she stumbled back, rubbing her nose with her paw. I scrambled to get up and give myself space from her petite wolf. I growled, studying her.

Granted she was fast, she didn't seem to have much awareness of the room. She was one second in one corner, then in another second she's across the room. My ears perked up as I realized what I wanted to do. She snarled before pouncing and coming at me. Sidestepping last minute, I tired something that I never thought would work.

With a running start, I jumped up on the wall closest to us, bounded off in another direction, and landed on her back. She struggled to get me off as I bit into her shoulder, snarling. She whined, standing up on her hind legs and smashing me against the wall. Before she could place her fangs into my neck, I rolled and pressed my back to her stomach, rearing forward so she fell off. She landed with a thump before getting right up, but looking friendly. She began to trot to her clothes, before full on shifting in front of me.

I turned my head in awkwardness, waiting for her to finish.

"Shift back," She ordered, I turned to see her putting her tank top on. I nodded, waltzing over to my clothes. I quickly shifted while she turned and put everything on in a hurry.

"You use your wits, which is something wolves don't normally do. We rely on our first instinct. Attack. But you look for other ways to get to someone, searching for their weaknesses. That's a good thing. You did good today!" She said with a smile. I grinned, feeling proud of myself. My wolf purred in happiness before we left the gym.

Not sure when I'll construct chapter 9 but I'll try to soon!
