They grow closer one day they are assigned to a group pair project. They decided to study at Sapphire's where the mansion also has a library for reading or studying. Once they are finished, a huge rain thunderstorm hits in, so Nathaniel gets to stay here for the night by asking his parents permission, making him and Sapphire become even closer.
