Ever since "Conformation" and beginning of "Re-Creation", Gerda, Lance and Keith have become overprotective of Elena, starting to scold harshly, accidentally hurting Elena's feelings. The reason because Gerda felt like her mission to protect Elena from Gabriel failed when Elena agreed to go with Gabriel to go to Rome, just to save Gerda and Lance from more pain and suffering. Gerda was sternly determined to not make the same mistake again.
