=====

As the class was going on, Samson kept on glancing at me from time to time. I also kinda was doing the same thing– glancing  at him. At first, it felt normal to me but as time ticked on, it became quite awkward. I wasn't so comfortable with the way we were stealing glances at each other. Don't get me wrong, not like I couldn't stop glancing. I was doing it because I kinda felt bad for what happened yesterday, between us.

"Anita," Mr Kelvin called. We were having maths at the moment. It was the last subject we were having before break time.

I jolted as I looked his way. All along, I hadn't been paying attention to his teachings. Samson kinda got me lost in track. No, it wasn't a crush. Couldn't possibly be. I just felt bad that I disbelieved him and he had to reveal that he was poor, which made me feel guilty.

"Do you have an idea to the problem on the board?" He asked. Why now?

"Um...I...no." I smiled sheepishly.

"Okay. Samson?" He averted his gaze to Samson. I didn't know it, so why would Samson know it when we were both stealing glances at each other. I let out a small smirk at my thought.

I felt proud that Mr Kelvin called me first before calling Samson. At least, he still saw me as his best student.

"Er...I think it's sixteen." Samson stood up from his chair, squinting his eyes at the board.

'Omni knowest' I thought.

"Nice one Samson, but you are wrong." Aw... "The answer's fifteen. Maybe you miscalculated."

"Okay Sir." Samson let out a small smile and took his seat, before glancing at me in a somewhat...sexy way? Yeah, it was a bit sexy. Not to kill your morale, but I found it quite disgusting. After closely getting the answer, he had to still look at me that way? Nice try Samson and it worked. You just got me furious.

I rolled my eyes at him and faced squarely at the board.

Finally, the bell rang for break. I stood up ready to leave with Susan. No sooner had I left the class than Mr Kelvin called me back.

"Go. I'll join you in a while." Directed to Susan. I said that before I spun to him.

Samson was placing his books into his bag pack before Mr Kelvin made him halt. "And you too Samson." That was what made Samson freeze at the spot.

We exchanged puzzled looks, before I walked up to Mr Kelvin so did Samson.

The class was now empty, leaving only me, Samson and Mr Kelvin.

"Sir, you called. Why?" I said impatiently. I needed to escape from Samson. Don't ask why 'cause I won't tell. And don't even dare think that I'm crushing on him or already having little feelings for him. Because I ain't one bit. GUILTY CONSCIENCE!

"Have you guys started your studying?" That question choke the hell outta me. We didn't study yesterday because of what happened, so what reply are we going to give him.

"Er...we..." I searched my brain for an answer, but it seemed to be clueless too. Fuck brains!

"We have sir." Samson cut in immediately. I snapped my head at him. "We studied yesterday at Anita's place." Emphasis was laid on the mention of my name. The look on his face was blank. He had no emotions written on it as he lied.

"Is that true Anita?" Both heads snap at me.

My eyes did a dash blinking, before settling. "Er, yes. Absolutely." I managed to say.

"Okay. You guys have to study hard and be sure do it everyday. This competition no be beans oh. We must win."

"Okay sir." Samson nodded.

"How many hours did you guys use to study yesterday?"

"Uhm...two...two hours sir." At this point, Samson looked less settled. He knew he was lying way too much, but what could we do.

"Hmm. Nice. That's a nice length of time, but you guys could make it longer if time permits though."

"Right." Samson chuckled rather nervously. He was literally the one doing all the talking, whilst I was tongue tied. If there was one thing that could defeat me, then, it would be lying. I was a horrible liar. If I lied, one would definitely know I lied.

"You may both leave."

I turned around instantly and briskly walked out without turning back.

"Hey Anita, wait up!" Samson hollered at me. The 'wait up' sounded like 'wadeapp' from his mouth.

Holy shit! What does he want now?

Nonetheless, I shove my thoughts away and twirled to face him with my hands akimbo.

He was strutting to me, with his hands in his pocket coupled with a very 'the word' smile. Cute smile, that was the word since your curiosity is getting the better of you.

"Hi Anita." He smiled at me sheepishly.

I kept mute, with a bored look attached on my face.

"Uhm..." He scratched the nape of his neck with one hand, while the other was still relaxed in his pocket. "I...I'm sorry for what happened yesterday."

My bored look suddenly drifted to a guilt and perplexed look. He was apologising, why?

"I know I shouldn't have acted up." He continued his apologetic speech. "I was just devastated that you blamed me for committing the act. It was heart drenching. Yeah, you couldn't have possibly blamed Tracy because she's your sister, but–"

"Just forget it." I cut him off. "Let's just forget the past and focus on the present. I get it, my sister sexually harassed you and I'm sorry about that. But please, can we not discuss this again?" I wouldn't say I sounded angry neither would I say I sounded apologetic. I was on the fence, but anger was leading.

"Look Anita, don't take it–"

"I would take that as a no. Since you decide not to forget what happened, then so be it!" Okay anger was leading now. I didn't know why I was fuming with rage. The feeling was just badging in. Well, I guess it was because I felt guilty that he apologized to me and I didn't like the feeling at all. I didn't want to feel that way again after all that I'd been through. I didn't want to feel bad for a guy. All I wanted was to feel superior and let a huge pride engulf me.

In no time, I stormed out of his midst. He hollered my name severally but I ignored all of it.

–—————–—

It was closing time. I was already outside the gate with Susan. Tracy wasn't out yet so I had to wait for her. The driver also was waiting for her but he was inside the car, whilst I was outside talking to Susan.

"Why did Mr Kelvin call you back?" Susan asked.

"Actually, he called both Samson and I." She furrowed her eyebrows quizzically, waiting for me to complete the statement. "He was under the impression that me and Samson had not started studying for the competition." I completed and she nodded.

"And have you guys started?" Susan asked immediately.

"Of course!" I said swiftly yet in a nervous tone, which gained me a jumbled look from her.

"Hey." I heard someone say. Ah! Thank God Tracy's here. I looked at the direction where the voice came out from. To my uttermost surprise, it wasn't Tracy or anyone I expected, it was my least expectation– Samson. Are you surprised that I least expected him? Well, I did. Because, I stormed out of his midst and also, ignored his calls so I expected him to be mad at me.

He walked up to me with a frown on his face, probably because of the sun.

"Good afternoon." He directed the greeting to Susan. She had a smile worn on her cute face. She perhaps would be thinking that 'finally he acknowledged her  presence.' Or what if it was because Ola wasn't around that was why he acknowledged her presence. Could just be.

He then turned to meet my eyes. Did I mention, he had lovely set of eyes. His eyes were black but had a shade of blue in it, which made it lovely and unique.

"So...are we studying today?" He smirked a little. Okay, this guy was a little bit cute. Note the word 'little bit'.

"Do you wanna study today?" I retorted.

He rolled his eyes annoyingly. Well, I didn't care.

"Of course I wanna study! I mean, we are both preparing for a competition, so why wouldn't I want to study. It's now depending on you if you wanna study." He sounded damn serious and slightly annoyed. Guilt took over me again. Oh please, not again!

"So...you wanna hangout in my place today to study?" His voice came out low and a bit hoarse, which on a nutshell, made him sound not so sexy but sexy. Okay stop beating me, I found the voice sexy but JUST A LITTLE.

Woah, woah, wait! His place?!

"Your place?!" I half screamed and half whispered.

He furrowed his eyebrows. "Yeah, my place. I can't study at your place a second time and let what happened yesterday repeat itself." He spat out nonchalantly.

"Again?" I made a stern look. "Why can't you just let what happened yesterday slide?" My question made Susan look at me quizzically yet confusing. I knew that if Samson made any attempt to leave, she wouldn't even let me take in air before questions would start gushing out of her mouth like  water.

"I can't let it slide because you still believe that I did it and not her." He said calmly but a bit of hurt was evident.

"What's happening here?" Susan whispered into my ears. "There's gist gallon for us oh." Still whispering. I rolled my eyes and focused on Samson. He had hurt written all over his face.

I sighed. "Okay, your place it is." I didn't want to hurt him further so I had to oblige to his suggestion. As I uttered those few words, the hurt face was replaced with a slightly happy one.

"So...are you ready now or...or I should wait for you?" Was that nervousness I heard in his voice or what? And why did his voice flatten when he said 'wait for you'? Samson and his nervousness were just...different. But to be factual, I liked that he was nervous around me. It made him look cute and me, the boss!

"I'm ready." I shrugged. "Let's go." He smiled broadly.

I waved at Susan as me and Samson walked pass her. I also told her to tell Tracy to leave with the driver that I was busy at the moment and might return home late. But I made a mental note to call my parent that I'd extra classes and was preparing for a competition.

We walked in comfortable silence, side by side. I was getting tired already. I'd never walked a long distance in my life, so this was way too new and stressful for me. My legs were hurting already.

"Why don't we board a bus or flag a bike to your house? I'm exhausted already."

He chuckled lightly before shyly saying: "I'm broke at the moment, sorry about that."

I sighed exasperatedly. "So you mean we are gonna walk till we reach your house?! I can't oh."

He raked his short afro embarrassedly. "Er...okay look, uhm...do you have any money on you? I promise to refund you the money."

"Yeah, I do."

"Great! So like how much?"

"Enough to get us to your place." A frown masked his face, but he unmasked it immediately.

"Okay then. My house is not so far from here, so we are gonna flag a bike."

"Together?! On the same bike?"

"Er, yes?" He cocked an eyebrow, probably wondering why I made a fuss out of it.

"No way. We flag different bikes."

He paused for a while, before opening his mouth to speak. "Okay. If you say so." He shrugged.

I heaved out a 'thank you'. And so we stopped two bikes and climbed on it before speeding of to his house. Before we left, he already told the bike man that was taking me to follow his own bike, which left me behind him.

We finally arrived at his street, which I found out the name was AKINDELE STREET. I paid the both bike men and they left.

Every step I took as I walked to his house, was like my legs got infected from the dirt that surrounded the area. You don't want me telling you how the environment smelled, because you would just throw up at the instant. It was beyond unpleasant. Despite the fact that I was covering my nose to avoid the smell, it felt as though I didn't even cover it. The smell was unbearable.

I couldn't help but say. "Is this where you stay? 'Cause it's disgusting!" I was damn irritated!
