I walked briskly yet angrily to where Susan was at the food vendor. She had her mouth full of mince pie. "Susan, what was that for?!" I placed my hands in akimbo as I glared at her.

"What was what for?" She marred her brows in utter perplexity. Apparently, she was playing charade with me.

"Don't do that with me again. I sincerely didn't like it." I was obviously infuriated.

After Samson had told me why he was moody, I was dumbfounded. Words found itself difficult to come out of my mouth. The only inappropriate thing I could do at the moment was to scurry away without any words of sympathy coming from me. How dreadful of me! Certainly, after what happened earlier today, Samson probably might see me in a different perspective.

"But..." Susan started to say after a long pause. "Anyways, I only did what I thought was best." She shrugged innocently.

"Well," I took my seat beside her. "You thought wrong." I rolled my eyes at her.

She scoffed.

I roamed my eyes around. "Have you seen Ola?"

"Nope. And I don't care." She responded nonchalantly.

I glared at her as I pouted my lips.

"What? Don't give me that look."

I rolled my eyes. "I hope he's not still mad at me." I said more to myself, as I roamed my eyes worriedly.

There was a comfortable silence that percolated between me and Susan, before she decided to speak up.

"So...ain't you gonna have lunch?" She cocked a brow at me.

"Nah...I'm fine." I simply replied.

"Yeah, that reminds me. Why was or is...Samson moody?"

"Uhm...it's–"

"Well well..." Wale and his squads strutted towards us. Wale had a smug look on his face. "Look who's here, if it's not the lesbian and her sex partner." He placed one leg on the desk and rested his two arms on it, looking directly into my eyes.

What! Did he just refer to us as lesbians?

"Lesbians?!" I threw daggers at him. "Did you just call us lesbians as in...lesbians?"

"Duh! Which other girls are here asides from you two?" He said indifferently.

I narrowed my eyes at him. I wasn't in the mood to start exchanging words with him. Scratch that! I was in fact not in the mood for him. "What do you want?" I asked dryly.

"You." He blurted out.

"Ah, here we go again." I muttered with a faint sigh.

"What was that, princess?"

"I said, get out." I pouted my lips at him.

He burst out in an annoying laughter. "Get out?" He found himself saying. "Wait, who do you even think you are?" His laughter had died down and was now replaced with a scowl on his face. "Because a handsome guy is even managing..." He looked at me with so much disdain. "Managing to ask you out, that's why you're now forming. Your sister is way better than you sef."

I snapped my head at him as I heard his last statement. "Wow. So you say she's "way" better right? Then why don't you go ask her out and stop pestering my life. I no gree. Shey na by force?"

"I wonder o." Susan whispered, but I heard it and I was pretty sure he did too 'cause of the way he looked at her.

"Hey. See nobody put your mouth. If you talk again, I would slap you."

"Slap me first, and I would report you to the school's authority." She said firmly and boldly, but I knew behind that facade, she was shivering with trepidation.

"Slap me first, and I would report you to the school's authority." He mimicked. "I sha have said my own. Don't put your mouth in this conversation because I'm not talking to you." She just rolled her eyes at him and continued to devour her meal.

"So Anita, how far my proposal to you?" He focused his attention back to me.

"Yeah I thought about it, and I think I have an appropriate answer for you." I smiled mischievously at him. "It's a huge no. Excuse me." I stood up and stormed out of his midst, with Susan following suit.

The class erupted with a joyful noise as bell rang for closing. I started to pack my books into my bag when Samson called my name. My heart skipped a bit at the mention of my name. I turned to look at him. He looked better than before. His bag was already hung behind his back, ready to leave.

"Yes?"

"I..." He cleared his throat. "Uhm...I'm sorry if I scared you off at my revealing. I didn't mean to."

I chuckled a bit. "It's no problem. Instead, I should be the one apologising for running out on you when you needed consolation." I truthfully stated.

He smiled a little and nodded his head in response.

We remained in an uncomfortable silence. "So...tomorrow then." I decided to break the silence.

I turned back to leave but he stopped me. "Wait. Erm...I was just thinking..." He was stuttering now. "Don't you think we should study everyday since the competition is fast approaching?" He asked nervously.

"Yeah, you're right. So...your place?"

"Er...sure. But," He started scratching the nape of his neck. "I don't have transport fare on me right now." He whispered shyly yet so adorable.

I started laughing. I found his act somewhat funny. "That's no problem. I would pay."

"O...okay. Thanks." He let out a boyish smile.

"But before we go, I have to inform my sis."

"Okay."

We went out of the class, walking to the gate. As soon as we got outside, I spotted my parents' car parked not so far from the school. Tracy was already inside the car. They were obviously waiting for me.

I ran to the car. "Good afternoon."

"Finally." She stated dryly, not even sparing me a glance.

I rolled my eyes at her. I wasn't even greeting her. I faced the driver. "You guys can go, I have something to do."

"But we can wait ma'am." The driver said.

"You heard her dude. She said we should be going. She probably has some unfinished work with her boyfriend." She said nonchalantly.

I glared at her. But seriously, I didn't have time for her, so I ignored her. "Thanks, but I'd prefer you guys leave."

"If you say so then." He plopped in and started the car. Zoom, they were off.

As soon as the car zoomed off, I spotted Ola walking to his car. He hadn't gone home yet? Wow, I couldn't believe we had not talked yet since the little fight we had. Can I even that a fight?

I walked up to him with Samson following me at my back. "Where are you going now?" He asked.

"To see my friend." I answered in a 'duh' manner.

"Oh." He kept on following me.

Finally, I reached Ola. "Hey. Where's Susan? She's not following you in your car today?"

"Hey Samson." He waved girlishly at him and was also smiling broadly. Technically, he just snubbed me. Like for real!

I looked over at Samson, and he was waving back at him with a smile adorning his lips. I rolled my eyes and faced Ola back. "For real. So you're just gonna pretend you didn't see me, right?" I asked dryly.

"Ehen, so Samson, what're you up to?" Ola ignored me a second time.

"Well, erm, I...I–" I looked at Samson as he trailed off, and he gave me a look that I should help him out.

"We wanna go study for the competition." I helped him out.

"I didn't ask you." Ola muttered, rolling his eyes at the same time.

"Pfft! I only helped him answer, since apparently, he was dumbfounded." I said matter of fact.

"Still!" He retorted.

"Really? You're still mad at me?"

"Isn't it obvious?" He folded his arms around his chest and pouted his lips.

"See, better stop giving me that face or I'd just tickle you." Tickling him was, I think, the best way to make him forgive me. He hated one tickling him. He couldn't help but burst out laughing when he was being tickled. And that was one of the ways to restore him from his angry mood.

"You'd better don't."

"That's left for you to decide, whether to talk to me now or get a tickle from me."

"But I'm talking to you."

"Not as a friend should."

"Waheva." He paused and then looked at me, before smiling. "I missed you."

"Huh? Missed?" Samson looked disgusted at the scenario displayed at his view. "But she has been in school all day, and besides, you sit just behind her."

"Yeah yeah, just keep quiet."

I giggled. "So for real, where's Susan?"

"She has gone home."

"She isn't following you?" I cocked an eyebrow.

"Does she have to everyday?"

I dropped my eyes at him. "Anyways, I'm going to his place," I pointed at Samson. "To study."

"Oh, wow. That's so romantic." Ola squealed jovially.

"Ola!" I sent daggers at him.

"Bye." He giggled at me, before proceeding into his car. "Have fun together." He sang.

I rolled my eyes at him, before turning to look at an amused Samson. "Can we go now?"

"That guy," He started to say. "He is so weird." He shook his head amusedly.

"How?" I pretended not to know why he said so.

"Why does he act like a girl?" He questioned like I was a god.

"Are you also homophobic?" Oops! Did I just ask that? I wasn't even sure whether Ola was homosexual or not.

He stopped in track and pouted his lips at me. "I didn't say so. I just wanna know why he acts that way."

"Is this your first time seeing a guy who's effeminate?"

"Nope. But...could you please stop answering me with questions." He paused and then kicked off again. "It's just that...I find them quite alluring and weird. Also, scary." He cringed afterwards. He probably thought of something nasty.

I laughed. "Samson, they are humans just like us. Besides, God loves them just as much as he loves manly guys. So don't condemn them, instead, embrace and love them."

"Gross! We are not gays to love them."

"So you're in the school of thought that all effeminate guys are gays? I'm highly disappointed." I was disappointed at Samson right now. I thought he was very smart. Well, turned out he was just brilliant and not intelligent. He only knew his books and nothing else.

"Well..." He shrugged innocently. "It's not my fault I think he's gay, it's only normal for all humans to think such of guys like that. Besides, you asked if I was homophobia, why?"

"It was just a slip of tongue!" I retorted. "I didn't mean he was gay. By the way, not all effeminate guys are gay. Some just act that way because it's their nature or perhaps, they grew up with females. Or they just feel behaving like a girl is normal for some guys."

He furrowed his brows at me, confusedly. "What are you even saying? How would a guy just decide to act girlish and feel it's normal?"

I stayed mute, not because I didn't have a comeback but because I was a bit pissed. I didn't like the fact he thought Ola was gay. I didn't like the fact he felt effeminate guys were not meant to be loved or seen the same way as other manly guys.

"Hmm, you're silence now." He spoke up.

I narrowed my eyes at him. "Yeah I was, but that was because I was contemplating whether you're even gay or not." He jolted when I made that statement. "Yeah, it could just be. Not because you're manly that doesn't imply you're not gay." I chuckled a little, that he probably couldn't hear me.

"What?!" He frowned at me. His voice laced out anger. "How would you even think such of me? When I'm not the one who even shun guys away." His voice lowered at the last statement.

I snapped my head at him when I heard what he said. "What did you just say? You think I'm a lesbian?" I half whispered, half screamed. I was beyond hurt that he would think such of me. "Is that what you've always thought of me?" I asked, hurt.

"I...I...I didn't mean it that way. I..."

"Just...!" I placed my hands, hushing him. "I thought you were different but no, you're just like the others." I was obviously hurt.

"Anita, don't...don't take it the wrong way. I just–" He trailed off.

"You just what? Thought I was a lesbian, and you needed me to prove it to you that I wasn't?" I shook my head, disappointed at him. "I...I will just take my leave. I can't study right now." With that, I scurried off.

He called me back severally, but I paid no attention. I was hurt, but why? Not like he meant anything to me. I shouldn't be hurt. I shouldn't be.
