Anita's POV

"Thank you." I said to the driver as I stepped down from our range rover jeep packed in front of the school. Whilst, Tracy just rolled her eyes and stormed into the school.

I sighed as I adjusted my school skirt and dusted out an imaginary dirts from my uniform.

It was Monday and it was the second week of resumption. Although, I didn't attend school throughout last week. I just resumed today and I was looking sparkling clean.

I carried my bag properly and marched into the school.

"Hey Anita." Susan my closest friend walked to me and hugged me. I don't do 'best friends'. In fact, I don't cherish friendships at all. Weird right? But don't get me wrong, I have friends or should I say, acquaintances.

"Hey Susan. How are you doing?" I smiled sincerely at her. Susan was the only closest friend I had.

She narrowed her eyes playfully. "Of course I'm doing well. What about you?" She nudged my shoulder lightly.

"Very well thank you." I gave her a cordial smile.

"What's with the formality? Well, school last week was...in fact, boredom is real!"

I laughed at the way she said it. "But I didn't ask how school went last week, so why are you telling me?"

"Waheva." She rolled her eyes. "So where's your sister?" Did I mention she talked a lot? Well, yes she does.

"I bet she should be in class."

"I can't wait for how this ss2 is gonna be like." She squealed. "I hope it's gonna be better than ss1."

"I hope." I said dryly.

I know you guys are calling me boring or too serious. But, I don't have time for stuffs like that. I only focus on my books and serious conversations, not girly talks.

I entered our new class, ss2 alpha, and it was very beautiful, more conducive than ss1 class and definitely more spacious. I bet each classes had an upgrade.

"Come sit here close to me." She pointed at a desk close to her at the front row. For the fact that she said 'close to me' and not 'with me', that meant we were not allowed to sit in pairs. Besides, the chairs were only meant for a single being. Yeah, our school was that classy.

I squinted at where she pointed and looked at her. "No. You for one know that I don't do front rows." I really wanted to sit with her, but I couldn't. Even though it were my husband or child sitting in the front row and asked me to come sit with them, I wouldn't. That's just me.

"I rather sit at the back." I pointed at an empty desk at the fourth row. She looked sad but immediately brushed it off.

"Okay." She smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes.

It didn't take more than ten minutes when the bell rang for assembly. Wondering how I knew, well, I checked my time on my wrist watch every passing minutes. I kept to time a lot. Sui generis, that's the word and not fremd.

We all marched to the assembly hall, chit-chatting with our friends.

It was a long and interesting assembly we had. Long because we just fully resumed and almost all the teachers wanted to air their voices, that's if you can air a voice. Whilst interesting, because all what they said were tangible and profound. We don't get to hear that everyday.

"Good morning students." Our class teacher, Mr Kelvin greeted us as he stood in front of us. "You're all welcome to school. As you all know, teaching begins fully today, so let us all cooperate and I promise you, there'd be no curse for alarm." He concluded.

Mr Kelvin was our class teacher and we were in science department. Though, he taught maths and not all subject. We had different teachers for different subjects.

"Lest I forget, trust you guys are aware of the boy who got a scholarship to our school. Well, he's already in the school with the principal and guess what, he is going to be in this class." Mr Kelvin sounded and looked happy.

"What scholarship?" I murmured to myself.

Ola turned to look at me. He definitely heard me. "You didn't hear? I bet it's because you were not around last week. Well, there was this exam that they wrote concerning a scholarship to our school and I heard he was the only one out of one thousand peeps that got a scholarship. Heard he got ninety two out of hundred." Ola informed.

"Bet he's that good." I said dryly.

"Sure." He gasped dramatically, "Since he is gonna be in our class, that means, you have a competition." He wiggled his eyebrows.

I scoffed, "That's interesting. At least, I have a competition now." I rolled my eyes. Not to brag, I was one of the most outstanding students in the whole school.

"What's the meaning of that? So you mean, none of us in this class were your competition?"

"It's not like that." I feigned a smile.

"Waheva!" Ola brushed an imaginary hair off his face and looked forward. He was sitting in front of me.

Let's briefly discuss Ola.

Ola was my second closest friend in school and he was the only guy I mingled with. Reason because, he was different. Ask me how. He was an effeminate guy. I presume he was gay. In fact, everyone thought he was gay but no one had ever asked if he was, including me.

"Class, here's our new student!" Mr Kelvin's voice resonated in the class which quieted everyone.

We all stared at the new boy that was standing in front of us with Mr Kelvin. Trust me, he was handsome but I wasn't tripping.

Samson's POV

"Son, I'm so happy for you." Mum smiled at me as she sat on the edge of the bed.

We lived in a 'face me I face you' apartment. We only had one bedroom, where mum, my sister and I slept with a small living room. Trust me, life here wasn't fun, even in the slightest way.

I turned to look at mum, as I stood in front of the big mirror in our room while adjusting my tie, and smiled at her. "Thanks mum. I promise I'd do everything to make you proud." I smiled genuinely at her.

"That's my boy." I ran to hug her as she uttered those words.

"You guys are having your moments without me to complete it? That's so unfair." We both turned to look at my elder sister, Sarah, who stood in the doorway.

I chuckled. "Come over here big head." I gestured for her to join us.

She walked towards us and slapped my head. "Never call your big sis a big head." As soon as she said that, she joined in the hugging.

We stayed in the position for what seemed like forever, before mum decided to break the hug. "Too much hugging!"

"Oh sorry mum." I chuckled. "It's when this big headed girl joined in."

She glared at me and that only made me laugh.

"Dear, you have to go now or you'd be late." Mum suggested.

"Yeah right." I brought out my new black shoe that mum bought recently for me, from it's hidden place and wore it, before carrying my bag pack.

"Hey small boy." Sarah called as I strolled to the front door. "You won't bid us bye? Oh, because now, you're going a private school and you're now looking neat that's why right?"

"Don't mind him." Mum added.

I smiled warmly at both of them and I swear, I could feel my eyes welled up in tears. "It's not like that." I managed to say.

"Whatever." Sarah said.

"Come and take this little change so you can have something to eat in the afternoon." Mum took out some money from her wrapper that was tied around her waist.

"It's no problem mum. I'd manage." I said seriously.

"Hm...he is forming big boy now." Sarah teased.

I laughed. "No. Well, bye. I don't wanna be late." I bade them 'bye' and walked out.

"Don't allow all those brats to disturb you in school!" Sarah hollered.

I burst out laughing. "I wouldn't even let them come close to me." I smirked before stopping a tricycle and hopped into it.

Finally, I got to the massive school. It was breathtaking. The school was painted sky blue and touches of dark blue.

I'd always dreamt of being in this school and now, it was a reality without me even paying a kobo. If anyone had told me I was going to attend this school, I would laugh till I couldn't laugh no more.

I walked into the big golden gate and greeted the security men, not man, men.

As I stepped in, what my eyes beheld was nothing compared to breathtaking, it was breathtakingly gorgeous. There was a fountain in the middle of the school, flowers everywhere, a basketball court at a corner of the school, a football field and a playground. Expensive cars were packed at a corner. The school was beyond my imagination.

I walked into the school and the noises of happy students resonated in my ears. The interior was massive and also very beautiful.

I went to the receptionist table and asked for the principal's office. She made a call before ushering me to his or her office.

I didn't completely enter inside before I felt cold air hit me, which made me shiver. His office was very frosty, had a nice smell, was very large and was very beautiful.

I spotted a lot of golden metals, trophies and awards won by the school.

He ushered for me to sit and I did.

After a while of talking, he told me where my class was and I walked out in searched of it. I spotted it and instantly, I panicked in nervousness.

I'd never been to such place, so it was normal for me to feel this way.

I looked in before I finally decided to stroll in.

"Class, here's our new student!" The man in which I suppose was going to be my class teacher hollered, making all their heads snap at me.

Phew! This is going to be one long journey.
