DESCRIPTION

it's christmas time. river barton and his uncle, clint barton, are supposed to be spending time with their family, not trying to avoid being targets of a mafia gang along with river's best friend, kate bishop. river and kate always knew they were born ready to be heroes and working with hawkeye, aka clint, was their time to be one.

SUMMARY

River Barton always admired superheroes ever since he was a little boy. He thought they were so brave for risking their own lives to save everyone else and thought their powers and abilities were so cool. He wanted to be just like them. When he was little he even pretended to be like his uncle and would use the toy bow and arrow he got for his birthday, pretending to take down bad guys around his room. River and his uncle, Clint, have a close relationship. They get along well and even have their own handshake. Clint had even taught him the basic of archery when he was little.

River didn't have any friends growing up and he never fit in with the crowd. He's fine with that, but the reason he never fit in with the crowd is probably because he is half deaf and used sign language to communicate most of the time. He was born half deaf because his mom is deaf. His parents found out he's a quick learner when they taught him sign language at a young age.

River became interested in sword fencing when he was in middle school and chose to continue taking classes until he graduated from high school. He became the best one of the class. He's really smart too and even became one of the smartest kids in his class. Being half deaf and needing to wear a hearing aid is annoying, but it wasn't always so bad. When he was in school, for example, if he didn't want to attend another dull lecture about a topic he already knew about, he simply removed his hearing aid and just pretended he was listening.

River traveled to New York City for college after graduating from high school, with the intention of majoring in art. He has always enjoyed art and is actually quite excellent at it. River, on the other hand, isn't as outgoing or social as his younger sister, therefore he didn't make any friends his first week in New York City. Until he met Kate Bishop, that is. He literally ran into Kate. However, it happened by accident. He was late for his first lesson, which began at nine a.m.

It was nine twenty am by the time he woke up. Kate had woken up earlier than she liked, but she couldn't go back to sleep so she decided on getting coffee. She was walking out of the coffee shop when River was running by the shop. Not knowing that she was there, he ran into her which caused her to stumble back a bit, but she was thankful her coffee didn't spill. Upon realizing he ran into her, he stopped and went back to Kate to make sure she was okay, apologizing profusely with his face tinted pink.

He had felt awful for running into her and he had to admit she was really cute. Kate was taken aback by how cute the blonde-haired boy is and when she heard his British accent that just made him even more cute. She quickly assured him that she was fine and that he didn't have to apologize. River still felt bad, but he nodded and told her that he would make it up to her. Before Kate could tell him he didn't have to do that and what his name was, he took off running to the nearby campus.

It turns out that River lives in the same apartment building as Kate's aunt. That's when they had their next encounter. Kate was visiting her aunt the next weekend and on her way to her aunt's apartment, she noticed the familiar blonde-haired boy in the hallway getting ready to open the door to his apartment. 'Cute British boy' were the words she said and her face tinted pink when he looked over at her with raised eyebrows, making her realize she said that out loud. River smiled as he remembered her from the other day and he called her 'Cute coffee girl'.

After introducing themselves to each other, River offered to take her out to get coffee in order to make up for running into her the other day. Kate wanted to tell him he didn't have to do that but when he said he would pay she agreed to go because she would never say no to free coffee. During that time, they got to know each other and bonded over their shared interests.

River and Kate became best friends throughout all the time they spent together. Kate had even learned signed language for him (she's still not the best at it, but it means a lot to him that she would go out of her way to do that), and unbeknownst to each other their contact names in their phones are 'Cute British boy' and 'Cute coffee girl', just like what they called each other when they saw each other in the hallway that one day.

He realized he had started seeing Kate in a different light when she was helping him study for an upcoming test he had. She was reading off the question to him and he found himself staring at her, noticing how her eyes seem to sparkle when the light hits them just right, and how she smiled at him even though she was a bit confused as to why he was staring at her so she used signed language to ask if he was listening to her and the fact that she did that made butterflies swarm in his stomach.

That was when he thought, crap, I'm falling in love with my best friend. Little does he know she is starting to feel the same way.

Now Christmas is just around the corner. Christmas is River's favorite holiday and he's looking forward to spending time with his family and even hang out with Kate some. He had planned on telling Kate his feelings for her on Christmas and giving her a necklace (a specific necklace that he remembered her looking at in the store when they went to the mall one time) he was planning on buying. But Kate ended up in the middle of a criminal conspiracy, dragging River into the mess. The situation that Kate and River is pulled into caused Clint Barton to come out of retirement and to say that he was not happy about that was an understatement.

River knows that he and Kate were born ready to be a hero and working with Hawkeye, aka Clint, was their time to be one.

NOTES

-very much inspired by the song born ready by dove cameron

-pls find a way to shorten up the summary, its way too long but i wasnt for sure how to shorten it up or if you wanna leave it that way thats fine too!

-pls pls pls write kate & river meeting each other for the first time, i think that'd be so cute ! 

-also if you write some scenes where kate & river spend time at the coffee shop they met at before they become friends & that moment could be when they get to know each other i would love you so much if you did this

-faceclaims for river's parents are kate winslet as emily barton & jensen ackles as jasper barton but i dont have a faceclaim for river's sister so you can pick the faceclaim for her !! 

-river's sister is a junior in high school so be sure to pick a faceclaim of a female actress who can be in high school. I haven't decided on river's sister's name so you can pick her name!

-river & his sister have a close bond so it'd be cute to see some brother-sister moments !  & ofc some cute moments with the whole family !
