Yeah, I'm vague. You want to fight? Because I definitely do not lmao. Anyway, I've literally been wanting to do an apply fic about dark academia since before I really did apply fics. I read The Secret History back in like, 2018, so it's been so many years in the making. So, here goes nothing.

Basically, it's the premise! I'll be accepting around nine people, maybe a few less, maybe some more. I'm not entirely sure. In this one, unaccepted characters will be appearing, unless I have way too many characters already. No promises.

| You'll be more likely to be selected if you are unique from other applicants. This applies to genders and personalities and MAJORS! Try not to select the same major as anyone else. If it can't be avoided, it's not game over, but don't give me ten English majors, or I will go postal.

| Please be detailed. The more detail the better. Leave like six comments if necessary.

| Also, anticipate that I could PM you at some point. While I draft the story, I will probably want to cross-reference things with you. If you aren't available (for an extended period of time), I'm making shit up!

| Also, your character doesn't have to be a rich asshole, but it'd be better if the majority were rich with like maybe one scholarship kid. Also, make sure your characters are flawed. It's a genre staple. I'm going to be picky because I really love dark academia. They can be kind and nice people, just flawed.

| Be aware, that people of colour and especially queer people are going to be facing adversity in this story. So, if you apply with one, be prepared for them to be treated as lesser by other students, professors. I don't want to give anyone a false impression, but the world of academia is growing more open-minded, but not secret societies, you know?

PERSONALITY: Poppy is mysterious. Intentionally. She is a bit flirtatious when she thinks it will benefit her, but generally, she just plays up her beauty. She's kind of a femme fatale, in that she is enticing. It's really hard for people to resist her charms. Socially, she knows how to make people tick. They like her. She's a real chameleon; she can play kind and sweet or annoyed and sarcastic. Her real power is words. Consequently, she can be dishonest, but mostly she just avoids answering questions. She's also incredibly smart and clever. She at a prestigious university after all. She doesn't work very hard at studying, at least, no more than anyone else (which is to say she does have a good work ethic, she just isn't intense about it). She likes to let loose but finds drinking anything but the most expensive champagnes and wine incredibly unfashionable. She cares very much about her appearance and wants to appear fashionable at all times. That isn't to say she cares for name brand clothes. She dresses very dark academia. Overall, Poppy is mysterious and she easily fits in.

BACKSTORY: Apolline is the second-born child in her family, if only by a few minutes, by her older brother Artemis. Her parents were very wealthy, her mother the heiress to an expensive vineyard, so Apolline grew up in the lap of luxury. Boarding school, private tutors. Her parents were pretty absent growing up so it was just her and Artemis. She and Artemis did enjoy each other's company. They lounged about together reading whenever they could, but they weren't joined at the hip. He had his hobbies, and she has hers, like tennis and boating. She's never had a job; she prefers to spend her time engaging in wine tasting and running language-related clubs at school. At her high school, she was a member of both the Latin club and the French club. She also spent some time on the student council. The twins spent a lot of time abroad, mostly in France, and as such she knows quite a bit of French and spent most of their summers at country clubs. Apolline always went by her full name, until she and her brother had a falling out. He got really into Marxism, which she's neither here nor there on (eat the rich, I know). He went to political protests and began throwing around their parent's money like it was his, and I'm talking big sums, like hundreds of thousands of dollars. Her parents turned on him, disowning him, and she could either join them or be poor like him. She chose to attend a prestigious university, saving her future, over her brother. It broke her heart. Consequently, now she goes by Poppy to feel like she's not missing her other half. This is part of the reason she is so mysterious (other than for the aesthetic of it all).

FAMILY: Artemis Prevost - twin brother (19), Montgomery Prevost - father (45), Jacqueline Prevost (47).

LIKES/DISLIKES/FEARS: boating, tennis, languages, the rain, expensive wine, satin and lace, /horses (they give her the skeeves), winter, bright things/ she thinks bugs and small animals are freaky, and she's afraid she'll never see her brother again, but otherwise she's pretty fearless.

MAJOR: Languages. She is learning French, Latin, and Italian. 

FLAW: She's mysterious to a fault. Consequently, she doesn't really have any real friends.
