Huyen : Hi everybody, today we will talk about deserts and living in here. first, can you tell  something you know about the deserts ?

P.a : ok … desert is an area that receives less than 25cmof rainfall a year. There are hot deserts in Africa, such as the Sahara, with scorching hot weather during the day and chilly nights. There are also cold deserts in South America, such as the Atacama, which may have below-freezing temperatures throughout the day and night. Deserts are very dry places. Most of a desert is made up of sand or snow, sand dunes or snowdrifts, and cacti or very small plants. Deserts cover about 33% of the land on earth. uhm … it seems very difficult to live in deserts …

Mai: exactly, there are a lot of problems we have to solve to survive in deserts.. ,such as .. lacking of water results from theeffects of insufficient rainfall and rapid water evaporation by nearby land masses. Do you know about The Atacama Desert in Chile, it is the driest place on Earth, receives less than 1 inch of rain per year --- on some years none at all !! unbelievable !!

Ant : So… what was your soluttion for this problem, if you had to cross a desert ?

Huyen : perhaps I would prepare carefully before. In unforturnate condition, I would try to find green plants or dry lake hole. Then, I would dig there until the soil moist, and wait for water to steep into the hole.

Ant : uhm … ok ..it sounds great. and I think we could follow bees, mosquitos or any other animal they live nearby the water. How about the other problems ?

Mai : like P.a said before, about the extreme weather condition. It’s too hot on the day and too cold at night. It means you have to bring adequately clothes. Don’t forget a large hat to avoid the sunshine. You all see the image of peole coming across the deserts ? most of them have fabrics around their heads.

Huyen : yeah.. about our acitvities.. any suggests to help us survive in a long time ?

P.a : you should avoid eating as much as possible. you can survive longer wthout food than without water, so try to safe your food. morever, try not to sweat. minimize perspiration by do most of your activities at night.

Mai . If you are lost in desert, use all of this sollution to survive and try to make a signal to attract the rescue team or find direction.

Huyen. Exactly, therefore crossing a desert helps us to be more courage, patient and experient. ok. do you find out some other advantages of deserts ?

Ant: sure, Desert is habitat for specialized flora and fauna. morever, it creates Abundance of Soil Nutrients … The sientists are studying at present about these facts
