As soon as he steps out of the palace, Timaeus sees the city of Thebes in front of him as the citizens go on their lives. He walks through the town but stopped at a weapons shop and picks up a mace "How much is this?" He said "are you buying for your master?" Asked the shopkeeper. Timaeus shook his head "no, I need this mace for attacking monsters" he replies, the shopkeeper laughed at the thought of a slave fighting monsters and said "sorry, but I can't sell weapons to a slave mad enough to fight monsters!". Timaeus clenched his fist and gave the shopkeeper a glare then shown him the back of his left hand, the back of his hand is branded with the royal seal that marks that he is owned by the queen. The shopkeeper smile dropped at the sight of the brand "so... you're owned by none other than our beloved queen!?" He said nervously and Timaeus nodded, but then a royal guard enters the weapons shop.

Timaeus instantly recognize the royal guard is no mere guard but the captain named oongard "this slave is with me, her majesty sent both of us to investigate this strange pyramid that spews out these red orbs" said oongard "r-right you are sir! Here slave, I'll let you purchase the mace but don't tell anyone" said the shopkeeper with fear in his eyes. Oongard pulled out 57 gold coins and handed it to the shopkeeper and he handed the mace for Timaeus "What are you doing here, oongard?" Said Timaeus "look, after you left the palace the queen sent me to join you because she doesn't want you to get killed" oongard answered.

Both of them left the weapons shop and travelled towards the end of the city, they encountered a woman standing in front of a pen of strange birds "Want to rent a saaba?" She said "what's a saaba?" Asked Timaeus "a saaba is type of flightless desert dwelling birds that we use as transportation across the desert, it beats walking through the desert without going thirsty and become vulture food" she explained. "We can ride on those, right Timaeus?" Said oongard as he smiled, Timaeus looks down his feet and he felt sand brushing his bare feet "ok, we'll rent a saaba but how much does it cost to ride on those?" He said "it doesn't cost you two anything, it's free here in Egypt but in either byblos or Persia they charge really high" said the woman. Timaeus and oongard got on two saabas and starts riding out of the city, when they're 2 miles away from the city they stopped "ok, where do you think this strange "pyramid" is located?" Said Timaeus "It's located southwest and 10 miles from here" replied oongard. The duo ride on the saabas for 5 hours unaware that someone is following them, it was evening and they stopped to rest.

"Lets make camp" said oongard but suddenly, something rises from the sands and Timaeus grabbed his mace and got into a fighting stance while oongard took out his sword and prepared for battle. It turns out, it was a large scorpion that appeared from the sands and starts to attack them, Timaeus swing his mace onto the scorpion which cracked it's carapace and oongard plunges his sword into its cracked carapace. It let out a shriek but it stings oongard by his arm as a last ditch attack before dissolving into red ether "aaaarrrgh!! I'm poisoned!!" He screamed in pain, Timaeus looked into his bag and looks for the antidote he packed and luckily he found few so he grabbed one and rushed back to oongard. He applied the antidote onto the arm thus causing oongard to feel relieved "don't move, otherwise you'll cause your wound to fester and get infected" he said "th-Thank... you" said oongard as he closed his eyes unconscience. With the captain of the guards recovering from poison, Timaeus took some fire wood and placed it down and started fire as the moon rises and the sun went down thus no longer day.
