Everything changed when he turned 15. His father had accepted a job in Ohio, teaching at a university. Sean had to pack up all of his things, say goodbye to his childhood home, and move across the world to a place he'd never seen.
The day they moved in was probably the worst. His parents working on bringing everything inside, leaving him to sit out on the sidewalk.
"Sean, why don't you go down the the skatepark? I saw one just down the road," his mother said, the Irish accent prominent in her voice.
He sighed deeply and stood up, shoving his phone into the pocket of his hoodie. After pulling his skate board out of a large, cardboard box, Sean set out down the street. The walk was not longer than 10 minutes.
The park wasn't huge, but it was a decent size and had enough rails for him to practice on. A couple kids were skating, and another few were sitting at a picnic table, gushing over comic books.
"Hey," someone said from behind him. The voice was startling, causing him to whip his head around. It was a boy, seemingly his age, yet not much taller than him. He had a floof of red hair, all piled on top of a slim, somewhat Asian face
"H-Hey!" he said, laughing nervously at the fact he was startled so easily. He ran his hand through the forest of green that was his hair. "I'm...uh...new around here," he added, a real smile quickly overcoming the nervous grin.
The boy laughed and stuck his hand out. "I think I can figure that out. I'm Mark, by the way," he added.
"I'm Jack," he said, "Jack McLoughlin." Jack returned the handshake.
After a few seconds of awkwardness, Mark spoke again. "I think we're gonna be good friends."
"I think so too."

That was the day he met Mark.
