"Come on (y/n)! Why are you so shy all of a sudden?"

"B-Because! I don't know any other kid than you!"

Ilia sighed and glared at the small (y/n) who was only a kid like her, only she herself was a year older than her. Getting her younger sister to meet other people was pain since she was shy by nature, and trying to crack that would be hard enough than ever.

Ilia didn't want to do it, but she pulled out the guilt card. "That boy just lost his parents in an accident. He's a farm boy and I want you to try and cheer him up."

(y/n) sighed and looked down at the ground. Maybe saying 'hi' wouldn't kill her at all. "Fine... but if anything goes wrong I'm running away."

Ilia smirked and pushed her towards the direction of the ranch. "Great! He's a boy around your age with blond hair and blue eyes, ain't hard to miss at all."

"A-Alright..."

The house was right next to the path of the ranch as (y/n) begun her journey upwards it. Her legs wouldn't stop shaking as it was hard to even control them, but that couldn't let her stop her. When she got to the ranch she looked around, but didn't see the boy Ilia was talking about. After searching around the ranch the owner said the boy, Link, was off today to have time to himself.

"Do you know where he could be?"

"Hmm... beats me. That kid likes to go off anywhere."

"Oh... well thank you!"

(y/n) left the ranch with a heavy heart. She could have just told Ilia she met him, but that would be lying horribly to her big sister. Asking around town for a while she found his house which was huge! It was carved inside a tree.

On the door it said he was at Lanayru Province. That wasn't so far off. (y/n) hopped down and took off towards the forest path. From the distances she could tell the gate was opened up and see footsteps along with hooves.

There was only one horse in the village so at least that was a start. She turned and went into the province, gasping at the beauty before her. The sun was setting as the water sparkled beautifully like fire dancing on the surface. In the middle was a boy, whose back was turned, had blond hair and looked about her age.

The horse he had was sitting next to him and feeding on some grass, and that's when she didn't see the grass in front of her. When she stepped on it Link jumped and turned around, burning blue eyes ready for danger.

"Who are you?!" He shouted, picking up a stick.

(y/n) backed away in slight fear. "I'm (y/n)! I heard about what happened and wanted to cheer you up."

Link gave her a confused look before putting the stick down. "Cheer me up? You want to cheer me up when we don't even know each other?"

(y/n) let out a smile and stepped into the water. "Yes! I... just want make a friend."

Link smiled at the young girl, even Epona wasn't nervous around her so that was a good sign. "Okay. I'll be your friend. I've never had a friend before either..."

(y/n) blinked in confusion before sitting down in the water with him. "Really? You haven't? I though a kid like you would have some friends."

"Well I work full time at the ranch and my friends are really only animals. I love them so much... just like Epona here."

Epona wined in agreement as (y/n) petted the baby horse. "She's cute."

"Thanks." Link smiled and petted her head. "Her name's Epona. My name is Link by the way, I forgot to even introduce myself."

(y/n) giggled and looked up at the setting sun. It combined just right with the nigh sky's darkness, making it seem like a whole world was on the other side of this one. "It's fine. Do you want to play together?"

She saw the surprised look on Link's face and blushed. "S-Sorry... we just met and I'm asking you to play with me..."

Link laughed and ruffled her hair. "I was only trying to throw you off. Of course I'll play with you!"

That was when the ties of fate had come together that day, when hero and time shall in due time love each other that death shall not break apart...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A curious young boy was raiding through his father's old stuff down in the basement. His mother and father should still be asleep and the lantern should be good enough with five minutes left.
Green clothes with mail chains, bow and arrows, bombs, and a grip hook thing... with turned out to be a hook-shot. He went through all of it until he found something interesting, a black shard.
It had red markings that twisted into ugly angles. From the looks of it and he could just tell it was evil, but had a use for something.
"Courage?" His father spoke up, making him jump. "Where are you?"
Courage quickly shut the truck and climbed up the latter, but his father was right by it as he was caught. Link looked down at the young boy who had not only the same hair color as him, but the same eye color as well, only he got his mother's height and stubbornness when it came for him to be told not what to do.
You came down and smiled at the two. "Did he get caught?"
"Yup." Link simply stated. He bent down to face Courage at eye level. "Why do you keep going down there when I keep telling you not too?"
Courage looked down at the ground and sighed. "It's like an invisible line tugging at me when it comes to that trunk. I only saw half of the stuff that was in there. I know you were a hero, but I want to know why you stopped."
Link sighed and lifted him into his arms. "I stopped when your mother got pregnant with you. It's not that I don't want to adventure anymore, I do, but now that we got you I want to continue with my parents' ranch. Don't you like it here?"
"I love it here! But... I just... have this urge to go out into the world and see it with my own eyes. I just know the trunk is the answer to everything I've got. And... I miss Zelda..."
Link chuckled and bopped his nose with his. "You miss your best friend huh? Doesn't she write back?"
"She does. Not much anymore since her mother, whose name is Zelda also, is getting ready for her eleven birthday. She hasn't had much time to write back to me."
"When's her birthday again?"
"Around next month. Can we please go to it? Pretty please!"
"Link! Courage! Breakfast is ready!" You called from the kitchen.
"Coming!" Link shouted back and carried with Courage in his arms to the kitchen.
Like father and son, their mouths began to water when they saw it was eggs with Ox meat, a special kind of breakfast when there was too many Ox's in the ranch to feed. It did hurt his father's heart to kill them, so he pays other people to kill the Ox if people didn't want it.
The smell warmed up Courage's heart as he sat down in his seat, right next to his mother and across from his father. He was half way through his meat when his father spoke up. "Would you like me to give you some sword lessons?"
Never before in his life did he feel so powered up and ready to go with the blood in his body. He jumped up from his seat and bolted for the door. "Come on! Let's go-"
A bird came in through the window with a letter in its beak. Courage gasped and climbed up the latter to get the letter. A wide smile was on his face as he read it before writing back...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Courage was out like a light after the sword lesson. Link was sweaty, but you helped quickly clean up him by pouring warm water over him. The muscles in his arms flexed each time you pour water over him.

Once you were finished you gave him a towel. "Here you go."

"Thanks." Link took it with a smile and begun to dry his hair. "He's my kid alright. Learns quickly with a sword enough, maybe that'll be his present, be a knight to Princess Zelda."

You giggled and gave him his night shirt. "That would be cute. I would love to see that."

"Yeah, but I have a goddess as a wife." Link smirked and wrapped his arm around your waist, leaning down to kiss your nose. "Way better than a princess."

You hummed and quickly kissed him. "I'm so glad I married you. Courage was a blessing to us and I enjoy every second with him, he's like a mini you, so I can handle him off just fine."

Link laughed like soft bells in the distances. "Yeah, but at least you agreed to marry me. I was afraid you wouldn't marry an idiot like me."

"Nonsense." You looked down at your wedding ring, in the center was a pure emerald jewel that his family passed down. "If you were an idiot I would have killed you, but you're my loving husband."

"You're my loving wife... how have the headaches been?"

You sighed and rubbed the back of your neck. "Easy, but sometimes my old self tries to break free. I know I won't grow old, but it's sad to see you will grow old while I live on... it's... like a terrible curse... the goddesses did give me a chance... but... I'm just..."

Link moved and wiped a tear from your eye, making you shocked to find you were crying. "Please don't worry about it. I promise to live long enough as my years will take me. I know it seems hard, but at least be happy with the years we've spent together."

You smiled and giggled a little. "You know just the words to cheer me up."

"Of course," He swept you off your feet as you yelped, "because I'm the hero and husband to time."

With an eye roll you leaned your face down to see him. "Oh gosh... what have I gotten into?"

"I don't know, but at least you're happy with me."

"How could I never not be happy with you? I love you for all of time."

"I too."

Link pulled your face close to him as you quickly removed the gap and kissed him. He smelled of wet forest water mixed with pine trees, but the taste of his lips never seemed to never go away, no matter how many times you kissed him. Link hummed and cupped your face in his cold hands, but your cheeks warmed him up, just like your heart always did with his...
