BANG!

The sound of crashing stone and wood reached the ears of a tiny kit. She was only a few weeks old, just opened her eyes a day after she had been born. She looked up, finding that there were already giant chunks of concrete and wood crumbling down from above. Her paws were rooted to the floor. Her tiny claws slid out, and her fur fluffed up. "Come on, move! Get out of there" Her mother called out. The yowl was almost inaudible to the small ears of the kit over the creaking and crumbling noises. 'Im gonna die!' The kit thought, ready to close her eyes and accept her doom. The last thing she heard was a mournful yowl before wood slammed into her.

The kit wailed as agony engulfed her. She writhed around in pain, blind from whatever was hurting her. Through the pain, she sensed the presence of another cat. "Hold still. Let me help you," the cat said. The kit felt teeth grip at her scruff, and she was dragged away. The pain slowly ebbed, and the kit stopped sobbing, comforted by the cat as she was protected under soft but firm paws. Opening her eyes, the kit looked up. A cream and white tabby covered in stars was gently lapping at her soft pelt. Wow, she's so pretty! Do I have stars in my fur? The kit looked at her paws, but there was nothing sparkling on them. The cat stopped grooming and looked down at her. "Hello," she greeted, "I am Leafstar." Leafstar? Who was this Leafstar? And why did she save her?

"Don't worry. You are still alive. RockClan has come to take care of you." She told the kit. The kit sat up, surprised by how she healed so quickly. Does that normally happen?

"You are dreaming," Leafstar said, "tell me, what is your name?"

"My name?" The kit repeated. She could have sworn she had a name. Maybe she wasn't named yet? She couldn't remember. "I don't think I have one," she said. Leafstar looked at her decisively, then came up with the name, "Goldenkit, for the little spot on your chest. It's like a heart."

Goldenkit smirked. Goldenkit... I love that name! I can be pretty even without stars in my fur! Proudly, Goldenkit licked the fur on her shoulder, trying to give her pelt a shiny look, just like Leafstar. "Can I wake up, now?" She asked the spirit cat after playing around with her fluffy kit-fur.

"I am afriad you will have to wait before you can see RockClan, but for now, would you like to come meet the cats of StarClan?"

StarClan? Does that mean I'll see more cats with stars? Goldenkit stood up, wary of more pain, but relieved that she didn't feel a hint of discomfort. She padded alongside Leafstar, watching as the world turned into a rift of stars.

"This is Silverpelt," Leafstar said as they stopped to look at the scenery. There was a whirl of fog, and then there were six more cats. Leafstar greeted them with a small nod. She looked down at Goldenkit and meowed, "these are some of the few warriors of StarClan. These are Rainpelt, Bouncefire, Echosong, Billystorm, Macgyver, and Harveymoon." The cats blinked curiously at Goldenkit.

"You're lucky, Goldenkit," said Harveymoon, "not all cats get to meet StarClan."

"But there is actually a reason why you are here," Bouncefire said, eyes bright, "we sent you here so you can send a message to the medicine cat of RockClan."

But before Bouncefire could speak, Rainpelt put a paw on his shoulder. "Are you sure we should tell it to a kit?" He asked with reluctance.

"Yes, Rainpelt. I sense much potential in her. She must be the right cat for the hardship of the future," Bouncefire replied.

Rainpelt hesitated before nodding. "Remember," he said, "you must only tell this to the medicine cat Jadewhiser. She's the cat with grass and herb stains stuck on her muzzle and whiskers. Got it?" Goldenkit nodded, eyes widening as she saw the pelts of the cats glowing with the stars. In unison, they all said, "through the hatred that clouds our world, one with a heart of pure love will shine like gold."

Everything went white after that.
