Jinx looked up as she saw a shadow over her. She was greeted by her younger brother with a warm smile. JJ sat down in front of her.

"How was your shift?" he asked her as a waitress came up to them. JJ quickly ordered his coffee and turned back to his sister.

"It was okay Rough," she replied.

"I heard about Mark. Is he okay?"

"I don't know. I have heard much." She sighed.

"I can drop you off at the hospital later," JJ said, taking a sip of his coffee.

She shook her head and grabbed a hash brown. "I've got stuff to do."

JJ raised an eyebrow. in the time he's known Mark, he always knew that Jinx would visit if something had happened. He'd have heard it from Mark.

JJ concluded that something had happened between the two or something was going on with Jinx.

JJ took another sip of his coffee and looked up at her. She looked at him. He gave her a look.
"Nothing happened between us." she hissed.

"Then?" He questioned.

"Just had a bad call the other day. I'll be okay."

"You better be." JJ got up. "I gotta go, I've got to meet Casey." He gave her a peck on the cheek.

"Be safe!" she called out.

"Always am." He laughed back at her. Jinx just shook her head and smiled.

JJ was always getting himself into trouble when the two siblings were younger. She knew he'd do something dumb on shift.

Jinx heard her phone ring and answered. She listened as it was coming from the jail where her mother was staying, as she was being charged.

"Jinx," she heard Jasmine Grey say. "I need help." She said in a whispered cry.

"I'm done helping mom." Jinx hissed. "You did this to yourself."

Jasmine silently cried. Jinx didn't know what to say. "Please, Jinx, I want my children back." she cried more.

"I have to go. I'll call later." Jinx quickly hung up, heading to her car.

Sarah Mack sat in the hospital waiting room. She was slightly uncomfortable as she had slept there. She hadn't heard from Jinx for the last two days. She was worried about her.

Jinx was a tough girl. But when people she cared about got hurt, she shut down. Sarah knew JJ would take care of her.

Mark had been in the hospital for a week now. Jinx Hadn't come once. Sarah knew the two had some history. It was only a hookup. But she knew Jinx still had some feelings for him.

Sarah heard some footsteps behind her. She felt a kiss on her cheek and looked at the person. It was her fiancé. "Hi." she smiled softly at him.

"Hey," he replied. "How is he?" John asked her.

"Better. Got some broken ribs and stuff. But he's going to make it. Might not be able to work for a few weeks, but he's okay." she replied, as she took the bag of food John had in his hands.

She opened the bag and took a sniff of it. Cinnamon rolls. "You're a fucking saint right now." she laughed.

John laughed and watched as she ate the cinnamon roll. He kept thinking of how beautiful she was. Her dark blue eyes lit up when she smelled the cinnamon roll. Sarah tucked her jet-black hair behind her ear so that it wouldn't get sticky with the cinnamon roll.

"You need to sleep on an actual bed, Honey," John told her.

"Tonight I'll be home." She replied.

John gave her a look. "Promise?"

Sarah nodded, taking another bite. "We need to decide on cake for the wedding." Sarah changed the subject.

He nodded, sitting back into the hospital chair. "Whatever one you want," Sarah shot him a glare. "Baby, I want whatever you want. I just want to marry you." He told her softly.

Sarah couldn't help but smile. She knew she picked the right man the first day she met him. Sarah fell for him first, but he fell harder.

"It's your wedding too." She told him.

"Yes." He agreed and gave up. "I'll help you pick cake tomorrow." he smiled.

Sarah's eyes lit up. "Is Clay going to make it to the rehearsal dinner?" she asked referring to John's best friend and best man, Clayton.

The two had grown up together so it made perfect sense for Clay to be part of his wedding.

John nodded. "He's flying in Thursday."

"Good. We can go out on Friday and the rehearsal Saturday."

"Sounds good to me." John told her, and looked up as they heard footsteps coming toward them. It was one of Mark's doctors.

"He's awake." The doctor smiled.

Sarah quickly got up and John followed.
