Initially, they trio were excited to turn in for the night. They'd finally have a bed that was actually fit for purpose, they'd be in a safe place where they didn't need to worry about who lay waiting outside their door and they'd certainly had a day worthy of a good night's sleep. They'd been well fed and Bruce had wished them a good night but didn't put any pressure on them to go to bed right away.

"Just turn in when you can and wake up when you feel like it," he'd told them. It would be weird to sleep until they were ready to wake up. They'd been awoken by street traffic and sunlight prior and then trapped in their room until Joey remembered to unlock it. In the summer, it was hell to be stuck in a sweltering room with no escape and dead air.

They hung out in Dick's room before he took charge and told them to get some rest. They didn't argue against it, partially because they were exhausted and because he looked worse for wear. Maybe he'd actually be able to sleep for a decent amount of time.

Unfortunately, they hadn't considered what a massive change it was. The boys tossed and turned, unused to the feeling of having a bed all of their own. The idea of having their own rooms was fun until it actually came down to it. Decorating a space to make it feel like theirs would be great for anyone else but they hadn't considered how lonely it would be after being cramped with another two people for so long. Pulling the bed sheet and feeling no resistance from another person trying to do the same thing should've been a joy but now it was like there was a piece missing.

Tim watched the rain solemnly, wrapped up in the sheets that should've lulled him to sleep but instead drew attention to the vastness of space around him. He hadn't an ounce of tiredness in him despite barely being able to keep his eyes open when he got to his room. He hoped that tucking in his stuffed animal would replicate the feeling of sharing a bed yet it only left him wanting a real person there.

He wondered how the others were feeling. Were they as lonely as him? Had they also tried the same stuffed toy method and been disappointed by the result? Tim looked at the clock, noting that it was 3 in the morning. He knew Dick would be up for certain. The teen mostly slept in intervals and this would be the beginning of his three till five awakening. He remembered when he first slept at Joey's and being woken up in the middle of the night to the older pacing. He'd asked what he was doing up but Dick just told him to go back to sleep. Looking back, he should've noticed it was a red flag.

Tim knew Dick wouldn't object to having him come by. The older had only sent them to bed because he knew they were tired not because he required his own space. The issue was he didn't know if Bruce would be okay with them switching rooms at this hour. He'd given them their own bedrooms presumably so they would sleep alone and Tim wasn't sure if he'd appreciate them going back to their own ways. Then again, he seemed pretty relaxed. Go to sleep whenever and wake up whenever wasn't even a rule Tim's parents employed. He didn't want to get anyone in trouble especially when he knew Dick would take the fall for it.

After some mental debate over the topic, he decided to visit and perhaps spend the night in the eldest's room. Bruce didn't seem like the type to be annoyed by that and had been pretty understanding when they were shopping about how abnormal their lives had been. He slipped out of his bed with his new toy in hand for emotional support and put on a pair of slippers Alfred had put by their beds earlier. The butler had warned that the manor got cold at night so they should never walk barefoot unless they wanted to have freezing toes. He crept to the door, turning the knob slowly as to not release a loud click and disturb their new guardian. He opened it and crept through the dark hallway to Dick's room.

Dick's door was slightly ajar, allowing him to get a glimpse into the room. The older was sitting on his bed, looking out at the window. He seemed transfixed by the stormy weather and after watching him for at least a minute, he hadn't blinked. He had a faraway look on his face, the same one he had when he looked out of their old window at night. Tim had assumed that he was dreaming of a life anywhere else but now they were living that daydream so what was he thinking about now?

Tim slipped in and closed the door behind him with a soft click. Dick turned to him quickly and tensed up, only to soften when he realised who it was.

"Hey Timmy, finding it hard to sleep?" he asked quietly. The younger nodded, climbing onto his bed and sitting beside him. Dick wasn't one to initiate physical stuff but he never shied away from it. Maybe in another life, he'd be a cuddly teen who hugged anyone without a care.

"I missed having someone there. I'm surprised Jay isn't here already," he responded.

"Give him a minute." Tim hummed and got under the covers. "Make yourself comfortable then." He laughed and snuggled up with his toy. As he did, the door clicked open again. Jason smiled to himself and closed the door behind him.

"You beat me here," he commented. He climbed up on the other side of the bed and got under the covers. They remained in silence for a bit, enjoying each other's company once again.

"It must be really weird for you two," Tim said quietly.

"What do you mean?" Jason responded with a yawn.

"Like being in a house and in a real bed. You've lived with Joey for ages," he explained. The pair shrugged and Dick slumped back into the bed.

"I guess but it's a nice weird. We're getting food and a nice bed. Plus, this Bruce guy doesn't seem up himself like the rest of Gotham's 1%," Jason answered. "Dick?"

"In my opinion, he's fine as long as he doesn't hurt us," he responded.

"Insightful as always," Jason retorted.

"I'm a simple guy," he defended, letting a tiny smile spread across his lips. Tim let out a small tired yawn, rubbing his eyes sleepily. Jason wasn't far behind on the sleepy scale as he struggled to keep his eyes open. The older could only chuckle at their efforts to remain awake. "Get some sleep you two." He tried to sit back up but Tim quickly grabbed him in a tight hug like a child would hug their stuffed animal.

"You're getting some sleep too mister. Doctor's orders." Dick laughed at the sternness in the other's voice.

"Alright, Dr Timmy."
