"Sounds believable" Bec said

"Well it's the truth" I replied shrugging

"There are a lot of unanswered questions though" She said "but first of all, I'm sorry"

"It's okay" I replied.

"No it's not, how did you live? I mean it wasn't easy being the prime suspect for the death of your best friend" She said sadly

"Well I'm the girl who lived" I winked and she chuckled

"Plus I've just been a complete bitch to you these past years" She added

"I know right?" I mused

"So what're we going to do about my mom?" She asked

"Got a plan?" I asked

"She has to pay. First for cheating, sending my dad away, murdering my little sister and blaming her best friend for it, that's just too much" She said

"I'm just glad there's someone that finally believes me" I sighed

"You're a really strong lady" She said "I would never had been able to live like that" she added and I shrugged

"I had to stay alive for Eva" I smiled thinking of my best friend

"But I wonder who it was that saw her kill Eva" Bec reasoned

"At least there's someone on my side now" I said happily

"That someone better not be Rebecca" A new voice added and we both turned towards the door

"M-mum--?" Rebecca stuttered uneasily as she stared at her mum who was shooting daggers towards me with her eyes

"When did you get back?" Rebecca asked

"What have you told her Luna?" Jenny asked zeroing her eyes at me.

Always has to be me.

"Mum she didn't do anything" Rebecca gulped, she looked scared which I hardly saw "I woke up this morning and couldn't find you so I thought something happened and Luna helped me calm down" she added.

I mentally rolled my eyes, of all things to say... Her mum wouldn't believe that shit, was that the best she could come up with? Even my stupid friend Clara wouldn't believe that.

"So what did Luna mean by 'at least there's someone on my side now'?" Jenny asked cocking her head creepily to the side.

"Ohh that----" Bec drawled out looking around "it's a phrase from a movie" she added quickly

I mentally facepalmed.... That was so lame, how did she think of that? Now Jenny will really think something's going on. Way to go bec

Jenny looked intently between both of us as if to know if Rebecca was telling the truth

"You had better be telling the damn truth" She said before walking away.

"Phew! That was close" Bec sighed and went to close the door before lying on the bed and facing me

"Really? A phrase from a movie?" I asked and she threw her head back laughing

"I was under tension, it's the best I could come up with" She said still laughing

"If I didn't believe you, is it your smart mum that will?" I asked shaking my head and smiling

"That's true but there's nothing we can do" She shrugged and I shook my head. Even I can do better than that.

"So what do you plan on doing concerning all this?" Bec asked

"First of all, where the hell is my mom?!" I asked frustrated as I threw my hands in the air

"Where'd she tell you she was going?" She asked

"She didn't tell me anything. Last time I saw her was first day of school and she didn't tell me anything about leaving home" I said

"That's weird" She said frowning.

I know right?

"There's something else you should know" I said and she sat up

I told her everything that happened when I went to stay at grandad's house during the summer holiday

"Well people could make rumors up and spread them" She shrugged

"You probably don't remember the part where I said he walked into my room with his mouth full of blood and his eyes glowing" I said blankly

"Could also be your imagination" She said shrugging and I facepalmed

"Before I went there, he also told me how much he usually has fun in the house and the neighborhood" I said trying to make her see some sense in what I was saying

"Fun means a lot of things, he might mean--er--" She trailed off scratching behind her neck and I smirked.

"Don't you get it Bec, he's having fun with people's lives!" I said frustratedly and she threw her head back laughing

"Ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous" She mused

"So what do you think happened to my best friends?" I asked

"And what about the newspaper part? Want to tell me I imagined that too?" I asked

"Oh shit!" She exclaimed "you're telling the truth" she added and I rolled my eyes

No shit!

"Of course I am"

"So we're both related to psychopaths, I never would've imagined that" She said shaking her head

"But how did Lily die, you don't think it's grandpa, do you?" She asked

"I don't know what to think again" I sighed

"Tough life you've been living, I can't imagine carrying around the guilt that I'm the cause of my best friend's death" She reasoned

"Tried calling your mum or texting her?" She asked and I stared at her blankly.

"Oh sorry, stupid question" She chuckled

"Have any idea why your mum's this way?" I asked

"There's this strange friend she's always talking about" She began

"What does she say?" I asked

"It was since I was a child, before Eva was born" She replied

"Most times, in the middle of the night, I hear voices and I'll peep through my door and see that mum's light is still on and it feels like she's having a conversation with someone" She said slightly weirded out

"That's creepily weird" I shuddered

"I know right"

"What else?" I asked

"There was one time when I was four, I drew mom, dad and myself on a piece of paper and kept it on my bedside table before going to bed. The next day when I woke up, it wasn't there so in the process of looking around for it, I heard a strange sound in the closet and as inquisitive as I was, I still am, I went to it and opened it and I saw my drawing there, only that it looked different"

"Wha--how did it look different?" I asked

"I drew everyone and wrote their names under but this time, there was another drawing beside the ones I drew and the name written under it was Lisa"

"So what did you do?" I asked

"Four year old me was so naive so I threw the paper out and just made another drawing" She chuckled, shaking her head at herself

"Wasn't your dad around all this time?" I asked

"It was only after Eva was born that dude became regular, he was always working, probably why my mum resorted to cheating" She said and shrugged.

"So before that episode at the old lake house, your mum had cheated before?" I asked

"Of course, anytime dad's away" She replied

"Oh wow!"

"You know I was born out of wedlock right?" She suddenly asked and I stared wide-eyed at her.

"My parents got married when my mum got pregnant for Eva, that's why I said mum got married for the money because she always told her best friend -that's always coming over- that she wants to cut off all ties with dad but when the man made it in life, she stuck to him and even made him get her pregnant again so he'd have to get married to her" She explained.

"Desperate bitch" I said rolling my eyes

"I know right" She replied chuckling

"Do you think her best friend knows the kind of person she is?" I asked.

"Miss Chappy? I doubt she's alive" She said shrugging

Say what now?

"Why do you say that, plan on killing her?" I asked confusingly

"Of course not" She said rolling her eyes "mum's best friends always die mysteriously if they've been so close for like four days" she added

"And she just gets so close to them like she wants them to really die even if she knows that being so close to anyone will kill the person" She continued

"She's really creepy" I shuddered and Rebecca chuckled

"But there's something weird that's been happening since Eva died, and I've never told anyone" Bec whispered as she came closer to me.

"What?"

"Anytime I talk about mum and Lisa, my phone will ring and I'll hear my little sister's voice at the other end saying weird things"

As she said this, we both looked at her phone that was on the bedside table expecting it to ring but when it didn't, we turned back to each other.

"We--"

Suddenly there was inconsistent buzzing and then we heard the sound

Ring ring ring ring
