(Mabel's P.O.V.)

(Sunday, June 21st, 2015)(The Mystery Shack, Gravity Falls, Oregon)

"Mabel. Hey, Mabel. Mabel, wake up."

I shooed the person away, accidentally slapping them in the process.

"Ow! Mabel! Wake up!"

I groaned.

"Never. Let me sleep forever."

"You know what they say," they replied. "The early bird gets the worm."

"Yes," I agreed. "But the second mouse gets the cheese."

"Mabel, this is important. We need to talk about the monster hunt tonight."

I quickly sat up and faced Dipper.

"Oh my gosh. That's today."

He laughed.

"Well, yeah!"

I aggressively pushed Dipper off of the bed and he hit the ground with a thud.

"MABEL! Quit doing that!"

I got up and put on my slippers.

"Is Grunkle Stan up yet?"

"Yeah," Dipper answered as he pulled himself off of the floor. " He's already giving tours around the gift shop."

"Alright. Then we can discuss our plan in the dining room while we eat."

After getting dressed, Dipper and I walked down to the kitchen to get our breakfast.
He opened the refrigerator door and sighed.

"What are you in the mood for?" he asked
sarcastically. "Expired orange juice or leftover, burned waffles?"

I opened up the pantry and pulled out a yellow box.

"I think I'm more in the mood for stale Cheerios."

He closed the fridge.

"Yeah. That's probably our best bet."

I poured us two bowls and we sat down at the dining room table.

"So," I began, "what's the plan?"

He looked up at me with a disgusted face.

"Why do you always assume that I have a plan?"

I paused.

"Do you?"

He set his spoon down on the table and sighed.

"Yes. I do."

I smiled as he pulled a folded-up piece of paper out of his pocket.

"We'll have to sneak out after 10pm, once Stan has gone to sleep."

He unfolded the paper. It was a hand-drawn blueprint of the Mystery Shack.

"If we're quiet enough,"he explained, "we can just walk out the front door."

I thought about it.

"How are we going to get out quietly?" I asked. "This house is like, a million years old. The floorboards squeak like crazy."

He grinned.

"I've already planned around that. You see, the boards in the middle of the floor creak because everyone walks on them. The boards next to the walls don't creak, because they haven't been stepped on."

"OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH," I marvelled. "That makes so much sense!"

He began to re-fold the blueprint. He placed it back in his pocket.

"I also suggest that you wear a swimsuit, because we might have to get in the water."
"Dipper! There could be a monster in there!"

He sighed.

"I'm not saying we'll definitely have to, but wear one just in case."

"Alri-"

Suddenly, the doorbell rang. I got up from my seat to answer it.

"It's probably just a tourist," Dipper called after me. "You can direct them to the gift shop."

But when I opened the door, I didn't find a tourist. I found Pacifica Northwest.

She was tall and thin, and her hair was a bright, yellowy, bleach-blonde color. Her eyes were big, and they were blue, like the color of a swimming pool after you've just cleaned it.

"OMIGOSH!!!" She shouted when she saw me. "Mabel! I haven't seen you in SO LONG!!!"

She pulled me in for a hug.

"How are you?"

"Fine..." I answered awkwardly.

This was weird. This was really weird. Pacifica didn't like me. Or Dipper. In fact, she had seemed really upset when Dipper uncovered the Northwest conspiracy three years ago. She hated the both of us. Why was she being so nice?

She let go and took a step back to look me over. She gasped.

"Mabel! You look SO SO beautiful today!"

"Than-"

"Can we help you with something?"

I turned around to see that Dipper had entered. He seemed slightly on-edge.

Pacifica laughed.

"I'm just here to hang out with my BFF!"

She playfully punched me in the shoulder. Dipper started to take a step closer to us, but stopped.

"UGH!!! What is that smell?!"

Pacifica giggled.

"It's my new perfume! Do you like it?!"

"It smells like you marinated yourself in unicorn farts," Dipper sassed.

"I know, right?!"

She turned her attention away from Dipper and back to me.

"So, what do you want to do?!"

"I want to finish my breakfast."

She clasped her hands together.

"Great! Let's go!"

She started to push past me, but I stopped her.

"It's not really a group activity."

Her smiled began to fade.

"Oh. Well, that's ok! We can hang out after you eat!"

Oh god. There was no way out of this.

"...Sure."

"Yay!"

She gave me another big hug before descending down the stairs.

"I'll be back in an hour!"

I laughed awkwardly.

"Great."

After she left, I closed the door and turned to Dipper.

"Well," he told me, "you're in deep shit now."

I sighed.

"I know."
