(Mabel's P.O.V.)

(Wednesday, June 24th, 2015)(The Mystery Shack, Gravity Falls, Oregon)

"Who's that guy?"

"That's The Ninth Doctor."

"Oh."

I rubbed my chin.

"He looks like one of those cool dads."

Dipper began to speak, then hesitated and turned around to face me.

"What?"

"He looks like a cool dad. Like one of those guys that has a steady job and a nice family, but lives in LA and drives his kids to school on a motorcycle."

He nodded.

"I don't know why but I see it."

I picked up the box of strawberry Pop-tarts from the table next to me and pulled out a package. After unwrapping them, I handed one to my brother and kept the other for myself.

"How did they get there? I thought they were in space in the last episode."

"They went in the TARDIS."

"Is that the time-traveling telephone box?"

"Yes."

I nodded, took a bite of my breakfast, and smiled. The strawberry Pop Tarts were always my favorite. Dipper liked the cinnamon ones. He was boring like that.

"You guys are up early."

We both turned towards the door frame to see that Grunkle Stan had entered. Dipper immediately brought his focus back to the TV.

"Couldn't sleep," Dipper told him.

Grunkle Stan walked over and took a seat on the armrest of the chair.

"You seem to be having a lot of trouble sleeping lately," he observed. "Is everything ok?"

"Yeah, I'm fine," he said coldly.

It was quiet for a few moments, except for the sound of the TV in the background.

"Can I talk to you for a moment?"

Dipper broke away from the screen to look up at Grunkle Stan. He sighed.

"Sure."

He got up off of the floor and the two of them left the room. I tried to keep my focus on the show, but I couldn't help myself from wondering what Stan was saying to my brother. I grabbed the remote and turned off the TV so I could think.

Was Grunkle Stan still angry about yesterday? Or was he going to apologize?

I could hear voices in the next room over, but I couldn't make out what they were saying. For a brief moment, I considered eavesdropping on their conversation.

No, Mabel, I told myself, you can't do that. You're not nosy like Dipper. You're better than that.

But even so, I found myself with my ear pressed to the kitchen door 30 seconds later.

"Listen, I know we both said some things yesterday we might regret. I don't want to fight with you."

Dipper sighed.

"It's just...I'm not a kid, Grunkle Stan, and I don't want to be treated like one. I can make my own adult decisions."

"I get that. You're in a weird place. Things are happening that you can't explain."

"I'm not talking about puberty! I understand you're my caretaker for the summer and all but I don't need you watching my every move and getting so upset over the slightest little thing."

He paused.

"I just don't want you two getting hurt," Grunkle Stan admitted.

"Going out to the lake when it's raining is not going to kill me."

"Dipper, I honestly don't care about that. I'm more worried about the fact that you were alone. Gideon's out of prison, and-"

"Gideon?!" Dipper exclaimed. "That kid's like, five. What is he going to do?"

"Dipper, just promise me you're not going to do anything stupid. I can't have you guys lying and going behind my back during a time like this."

It was silent for a long time.

"Ok."

"I'm not doing this to 'oppress' you or anything, Dipper. It's just for your own safety."

Dipper sighed.

"Yeah, I get it."

It was silent again.

"This was a good talk," Grunkle Stan said awkwardly, desperate to break the tension.

I quickly ran back down the hallway and to the armchair across from the TV as I heard Dipper exit the kitchen.

He entered the living room a few moments later.

"I've taught you well."

Aw nuts.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

He laughed and shook his head.

"Mabel, I'm not stupid. I could see your feet underneath the door.

"Oh."

I paused.

"So...no heist then?"

He squinted.

"Don't be ridiculous. Of course there's still a heist."

"But Grunkle Stan told us not to go out alone."

"We'll have Wendy!" he insisted.

I nodded. That made sense. She was a

"And besides," he continued, "I haven't listened to a single word Stan has said since we got off that bus."

He shrugged and shot me a sly grin.

"Why start now?"

I am legitimately the worst human being that has ever walked the face of this planet. I'm going to be honest with you guys. I won't make up excuses. I've been really lazy. But I was on YouTube this morning and I saw that The Mystery of Gravity Falls just posted the new teaser for "Northwest Mansion Mystery" and I was inspired. I'm not going to lie. I legitimately had to reread the previous chapter because I had forgotten what was going on in my own story.

I'm not making any concrete promises, but I will be attempting to write as often as I can. And if it's been a while since I've updated, just shoot me a message.

"Hey Raechel, it's been a long time since you've updated. Your fanfiction based off of a children's television show is the reason I get out of bed every morning. Without you, I am nothing."

Guilt me into writing. Seriously. That's the whole reason I got a Wattpad. Before this I'd just send chapters as I finished them to my non-faller friends who really didn't give a crap.

Ah well, until we meet again, my friends.

(Btw, if you haven't already checked out my new Fanfiction Polyvore account, be sure to do so! I've just started posting outfits for the characters in each chapter.)
