Prologue

Raphael De Luca didn't ask to be a Demigod, much less the son of a famous Greek God known for War. Unfortunately for him, it was something out of his control. Gabryela De Luca died protecting her son from it all. Gabryela was a mere mortal woman in her twenties when she met Ares one summer.

She and her siblings decided to celebrate their mother's birthday by heading to a beach house on the coast of California. There she met a man who protected her honor one night when her and her siblings were out.

Between the long night drives on his motorcycle and the campfires on the beach where they would talk for hours under the stars, it was enough to make him reveal his secrets. Making Gabryela believe they both were falling in love; however, she was no Aphrodite.

So, when Gabryela fell pregnant Raphael's father disappeared, leaving her to raise a child alone. She was disowned by her parents for throwing her life away to raise a child with no father. Working two jobs and with the help of her sister, she was able to rent out an apartment in Brooklyn.

From the very moment Raphael was born, he was forced to carry the heavy burden of being the Prince of War and follow in his Father's footsteps like the fates wanted. A burden his mother tried to carry on her son's behalf for seven years straight.

But being the Prince of War has consequences. Gabryela tried her best to protect him from the strange monsters he would spot, from the troubling premonitions, and the fate of allowing the bloodlust, a child of Ares born with, turned him into a soldier of destruction. His mother never had any intention of telling him about his family history.

So, when Raphael's bloodlust caused him to be diagnosed with Intermittent Explosive Disorder. With the help of Chiron every summer he would go to Camp Half-Blood so he can train to be hero but more importantly learn to control his anger.

When Gabryela was killed Raphael stayed at the camp all year round. He was not the same boy who would laugh around others or have empathy like his mother taught him. No, he grew angry and cold exactly like his father and the one thing his mother tried to prevent.

Violetta Serrano never imagined being a Demigod, especially the daughter of Persephone. She was the child that shouldn't have existed, but fates had other plans. Even Demeter had plans for her to be the next "Princess of Spring."

She was forced to carry the responsibility of being the daughter of the Queen of the Underworld. A responsibility that her father tried to protect her from for ten years. Cristián Serrano would tell her stories in ways to prepare his daughter for the inevitable.

He never had any intention of telling Violetta about her mother's family history, but after a series of harrowing visions, monsters she would see and communicate with the dead. Cristián knew it was time to be completely transparent with his daughter. He told her how he and Persephone met and fell in love.

Car rides filled with bad karaoke, dancing under the stars and futures they both wished for. Cristián thought he had found the love of his life but that wasn't the case. When Violetta was born Persephone made him promise to raise her well and keep her safe.

Ever since she would go to Camp Half-Blood each summer and go home for regular school until the threat of monsters got worst. Cristián made the decision for her to just stay there and visit when she can.

Each day Violetta proved that she was a worthy daughter of Persephone, she became a master in sword fighting, trained younger half-bloods, volunteered in the infirmary, and even helped in the gardens. She even joined Groover, a Satyr to help escort a group of half-bloods to Camp Half-Blood.

But Violetta felt the pressure of being a child of a goddess and mortal. The pressure of being good enough to feel like you deserve to be a child of a god but still have the balance of her father linage.

Especially when a prophecy was made for her, the only daughter of Persephone who was supposed to be light was now burdened to have this darkness in her, thanks to Hades' curse, that ended with her even dying, which didn't help her racing mind. Violetta tried not to listen to what was expected of her, however, one thing was for sure she always wore her heart on her sleeve.
