Hi. It's been a while. Catch me on twitter @/cmykae for more art and graphics. I came on to share these covers because I like making covers for stories I've actually read and I quite like these covers turned out even though they still need a little tweaking as I stare at them longer.

I was doing a cover challenge where I could only get my images from a specific source. Which made things... somewhat limiting. Especially when I was doing a series and... I couldn't use a model because I only had one picture of them. I chose to do covers for XxSkater2Girl16xX (why wont they let me tag her actual account???)  because... I've read a lot of her books — she has a lot — I'm surprised I remember a lot of them. 

I did all of these in like... 6 hours ? Looking for resources, setting type, retouching and recoloring. Then spent like another 30 mins just staring at them. 

some notes: 

Overall... apparently I really like white type and very minimalistic covers. 

inject me sweetly. It's a vampire book... but the teen fiction kinda outweighs the vampire elements. Like a teen fiction book where they just so happen to also be vampires than a vampire book and the kids happen to be vampires. So I wanted it to have some teen fiction vibes with a fantasy edge. 

the resurrected prince. I know its about a guy. but its told in the girls POV and guy images are hard to find, especially without facial hair apparently. I also wanted it to have the same vibes a the first one with flowers.. 

Darker than black. I believe its a teen fiction... but the cover i made it has memoir vibes? And It also feels like "the birds" movie to me .... 

Gold Rush. Came out before 1D. and I... just kinda felt like they liked a clean aesthetic. Instead of that "we're boys so we're edgy and messy cause it's cool"- grunge effects. I also really liked the clean aesthetic of the guitar image I found. 

waist-deep in walmart. I knew I wanted to try and do some hand written type. The composition could use a little work. but i like the typography and the photo I used is actually of a girl in walmart. 

Finding love in a coffee shop. I really wanted to use a coffee shop photo. but a lot of the ones I found were super busy and i didnt like them, or really editorial. I also... don't remember half of the things that happened in this story except sherlock homes references. Maybe I'll come up with something better after I re-read it. 

Love at last sight. A lot of the original graphics for it had like, a girl with a blind fold-esque thing over her eyes and ... I found this image of this girl with a blanket going over her face. and it felt more natural — similar to the events that happened in the story. 

believe me im lying. I love the duo tones in it that kind of go with the two sides of lie and truth. And the mouth where... you tell lies and truths from. 

Heartbreak for hire. Honestly. I saw the photo looking for other ones and was like. She looks like she just killed a party. This works out. I like how clean and off- white everything is as well. 

The relationship series. The titles are hella long and I thought I misspelled them at least twice. Since its about a secret relationship I... know I didn't want faces. But I also thought it'd look cool if it were like, her face was turning and you slowly see more of her face.

She actually still has more stories than this.... so I guess I have something to work on next time I feel like making covers. Maybe I'll just make covers for all my favorite wattpad stories and make a rec page on my tumblr with the covers...... everything will probably look the same. Really tempted to do it though, a rec list featuring fan made covers.
