This is a list of all our reading lists and what their names mean. Since we ask you to pick one of these when you submit your story, please make sure to read this chapter carefully so you'll get an idea of where your story might fit best.

The Classics: This list contains all the folktales, fables and original fairy tales by authors like the Brothers Grimm, Charles Perrault, and Hans Christian Andersen we could find on Wattpad.

Of Beauties and Beasts: This list contains stories that are retellings of or inspired by the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast.
Stories that are based on the Disney movie do not belong here. Those are fanfiction and belong on our Once Upon a Fanfic reading list.

Of Glass Slippers and Stepsisters: The stories on this list are either retellings of or inspired by the fairy tale Cinderella, no matter if it is Perrault's or the Grimm's version you're referencing, all versions are accepted.
Again, stories based on the Disney movie, belong onto the fanfiction list.

Of Mirrors and Apples: This list means to showcase retellings of or stories inspired by Snow White (and the Seven Dwarfs).
Once again, stories based on the Disney movie or other movies/shows should be on Once Upon a Fanfic.

Of Spinning Wheels and True Love's Kiss:This list is where you will find stories retelling or taking inspiration from Sleeping Beauty.

The same as before applies to stories inspired by movies/TV shows/book series and the like, this also applies to any story dealing with the character Maleficent. She's an invention of Disney and every story involving her is thus a fanfiction.

Of Wolves and Witches: This is a combined reading list for retellings of Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel & Gretel OR other retellings featuring wolves/werewolves and/or witches.

Of Braids and Towers: A reading list for all those retellings or stories inspired heavily by Rapunzel.
For fanfiction of Tangled, please see Once Upon a fanfic.

Of Fins and Fishtails:This reading list is for stories that are retellings of or inspired by the fairy tale The Little Mermaid OR other retellings that feature mermaids and/or sea creatures.
What about Ariel and her friends, you ask? Same as before: that's fanfiction and should be put on its own reading list.

Of Mad Kings and Evil Queens: If you love dark and twisted versions of your favourite fairy tales or have always been rooting for the bad guys, then this reading list has a selection of dark retellings for you to check out.
Fanfiction of e.g. Maleficient can be found on the fanfic reading list.

Of Tales Near Forgotten:This list means to highlight all the stories inspired by the lesser known fairy tales out there that we love just as much as the big ones. So if you're looking for something based on a more obscure tale, you might find something here.

A Pocketful of Tales: On this reading list, we feature stories that retell or contain elements from more than one fairy tale. It doesn't matter how many or how you combine them, as long as it's visible you've been inspired by multiple fairy tales.
Stories that involve Disney Princesses from different movies or that are based on shows like Once Upon a Time, again, should go onto the fanfiction list.

A Touch of Fairydust: The stories on this reading list aren't exact retellings of fairy tales, but they contain fairy tale elements/motives/symbolism. They are often loosely inspired by one or more fairy tales but feature a more original story line and characters. The fairy tale elements are altered so that you sometimes don't recognise the fairy tale background at first.
More modern adaptations might also be placed here.

Little Ever Afters: A reading list for fairy tale related short stories that can be read in one sitting OR short story collections/anthologies for quick reads on the go.

Once Upon a Fanfic: This reading list is the place for all fairy tale related fanfiction, be it about your favourite Disney movie, from shows like Once Upon a Time or Grimm OR even other shows or books, as long as the story has strong fairy tale elements.

A trip to Wonderland, Oz and Neverland:This reading list is the place to find stories based on the three big Children Classics Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and The Wizard of Oz.

Tales from around the World: This reading list highlights stories, that aren't set in or based on European fairy tales, but instead are mostly inspired either by Eastern folk tales or originate in Arabian culture/settings. Stories based on African folktales are also welcome, we love to learn new exciting stories.

And that's all for now, keep an eye on this chapter as new reading lists may be added over time.

Do you have any ideas for new reading lists we should create? Or ideas for cool new names for the ones we already have? Leave them in the comments below.

But please be aware that we have to be able to find at least 10 stories on Wattpad that fit our criteria in order to create a new list.
