Hey guys, posting from my phone for this one!

I have some fanfics written on my phone, so just posting it from there is easier. This one-shot I posted on my Instagram back in May 2022, so it's new to wattpad.

"Nuffink you coming?" Zephyr yelled from the porch into the house.

"Yeah!" Nuffink said running down the stairs and grabbing his coat. Astrid looked at them.

"Where are you two going?" She asked crossing her arms.

"Just gonna play with the others, mom" Zephyr told her.

"Alright, be careful. It might still be cold but some ice is starting to melt, and try and stay away from your dad and the others building the docks." Astrid told her 9 year old daughter.

"Okay mom. Come on Nuff." Zephyr said and Nuffink and her left.
The kids went and found their little group of friends in the village.

"Hey Zeph!" Maya called. Zephyr ran over to her. Nuffink caught up with a few of the other kids.

Hiccup was overseeing the work on the docks when the kids came over.

"Daddy!" Zephyr called. Hiccup turned and smiled seeing his kids.

"Hey, what are you doing?" He asked.

"Just playing, what are you doing?" Zephyr asked.

"Just working." He told her and smirked. "We're gonna head down to the bottom of the docks." Hiccup called out to the villagers helping.

"Can we come?" Zephyr asked.

"But Zeph, Mommy said we can't play on the docks." Nuffink told her.

"We're with dad and lots of other adults. She just doesn't want us going alone." Zephyr said and looked back at Hiccup with her bright blue eyes she got from her mother.

"Alright, but you need to stay near us." Hiccup told them

The kids nodded.

They all headed down the docks and the kids ran ahead to the bottom. Hiccup stopped part way down so they could look at how they were doing from the top and thinking if he needed to change anything.

The kids were at the bottom and Zephyr sat on the edge and leaned down to the ice.

"Zeph! Don't." Maya told her.

"It's fine. We play on the ice all the time." Zephyr told her.

"Not when it's starting to melt." Maya told her.

Zephyr tested her weight on it. "It's fine." She told her. Maya sighed and looked up where Hiccup and her own dad and some others were.

Zephyr slowly stepped further and further out. She got to a section about 30 feet away from the dock.

"Zephyr come back!" Maya called.

Zephyr took another small step and the ice broke and Zephyr screamed falling into the ice cold water.

"ZEPHYR!" Maya screamed.

"ZEPHIE!" Nuffink screamed as well. He tried to go off the dock and Maya stopped him.

Hiccup and the other adults heard them scream and his eyes panicked when he didn't see his daughter. He saw the broken patch of ice and started running down the docks.

"Somebody get Astrid!!" He yelled. He started taking off his cape and he took it with him. He got on the ice himself and tried to go as fast and carefully as he could.

"Daddy!" Nuffink called after him.

Hiccup kept his eyes on the broke part of ice. He was getting closer and waiting for Zephyr to come up. He saw an arm come up and try to pull herself out.

Zephyr tried pulling herself up on the ice. She saw Hiccup ahead of her and felt her body shaking. She tried talking.

"Daddy! Help!" She tried yelling but her voice was quiet and raspy.

"I'm coming sweetie. Hang on." He told her.
Astrid, Valka and one of the healers, Lana came running down the docks with blankets.

"Hiccup!" Astrid called. She had fear all over her face, which she didn't show often.

Hiccup got closer and felt the ice crack slightly. He looked around and laid down. He left his cape there. He slide slowly towards the hole. Zephyr's arm was still above the ice.

"Zephyr?" He said. He didn't hear anything. "Sweetie, move your hand if you can hear me." Hiccup got closer. Zephyr moved her hand a little. Hiccup smirked. "I'm almost there." He got closer and he saw her hand slipping.

"Zephyr, hang on!" He heard the ice crack a little again. He got closer and reached out. Her hand slipped more. He got closer again and managed to grab her arm and saw her under the water. He leaned over into the hole and got a grip on her and pulled her up.

"Zephyr! Come on." He looked at her seeing her blue lips and her skin extremely pale, ice on her eyelashes and hair. Her eyes were closed, and she wasn't moving. Hiccup checked her and sighed of relief hearing her heartbeat. He slid back with her and got his cape and wrapped her in it. When he got close enough he picked her up and rushed her to the dock. He placed her on there and Lana wrapped her in more blankets. Hiccup got up on the dock and picked Zephyr up. Astrid had Nuffink.

It was later at the healers and Zephyr was in a bed with lots of blankets and in front of a fire. She hadn't woken up yet. Astrid and Hiccup were sitting next to her bed. Hiccup was just staring at Zephyr.

Astrid reached over and held his hand. He looked at her. "She's gonna be okay." She told him.

"I know." He told her.

"What are you thinking about?" She asked him. Hiccup was quite for a minute.

"Just, if we had them... I know Toothless would've gotten her outta of there before she probably went under. He would've been down at the bottom with them, making sure they were safe. Even if he was with me, higher up, he would've heard the ice crazk and would've grabbed her before she even had a chance to hit the water."

"I know babe. I miss them too." She told him. They sat there in silence for a bit and Astrid got up and rushed out of the room. Hiccup looked up when she left.

Astrid went outside to the side of the hut throwing up. Lana was in her herb garden cleaning it up for the spring, it wasn't far and Lana looked at Astrid.

"You okay?" She asked. Astrid nodded. "Have you told him yet?" Lana asked standing up.  Astrid shook her head.

"Astrid, you're going to start showing soon." Lana told her. Astrid sighed.

"I haven't had a chance. If he's not working, we're with the kids, or out in the village or sleeping." Astrid told her.

Lana smirked. "Well that didn't happen from sleeping." Astrid smirked.

"We were also drunk when it happened, trust me, it was the first time in a while to say the least and I end up pregnant out of it."  She tells her.

Lana smiles "Look, I know it wasn't planned. But I know Hiccup won't hate you. It's his fault too. Besides, you have cute kids and you're great parents."

"Except we only ever talked about having two kids." She said.

"Well, you're waiting for your daughter to wake up and no one is bugging you guys. Why don't you tell him now." Lana told her.

Astrid smirked and went back inside. Hiccup saw her.

"You okay?" He asked. She nodded. She moved her chair to sit beside him. Hiccup looked at her and back at Zephyr. Astrid grabbed his hand.

"Do you want another one?" She asked.

"Another kid? I mean, yeah i guess, we've just had a lot going on lately, and now Zeph. I know we haven't had much time together." He looked at her. "Why?"

"When would you want one?" She asked. She wasn't looking at him now. Hiccup sat up a bit and put his other hand on her face gently turning it to him. Astrid looked at him.

"Astrid, what is it?" He asked her. She sighed.

"I'm pregnant... a few months. I didn't tell you because we've been so busy and I didn't know if you'd want another....mm." Hiccup cut her off kissing her. Astrid smirked a little.

"It's a surprise but nothing we can't handle." He told her. She smiled.

It was nighttime and Hiccup was awake still and Astrid was laying next to Zephyr in the bed sleeping. He was keeping the fireplace going to keep the room warm for Zephyr.

Hiccup sat down again and opened his sketchbook. After a bit he heard shuffling and looked at the bed and saw Zephyr moving. He put his stuff down and nudged Astrid a little. She woke up and looked at him.

Zephyr moved again and Astrid sat up and looked at her. Zephyr groaned and started moving more. Her face looked like she was in distress.

"I think she's having a nightmare." Hiccup said.

Zephyr all of a sudden shot up and her eyes flew open she started coughing.

"Zephyr, it's okay." They both said. Zephyr looked around and saw them.

"Daddy?" She looked at him. Hiccup hugged her.

"You're okay." He told her kissing her head.

Astrid hugged her too. Zephyr looked at them and at the bed seeing all the blankets. She was sweating a bit. She moved some of them off.

"It's too hot." She said.

Hiccup went to get Lana. Lana came in to check on Zephyr.

Zephyr was coughing. Lana checked her.

"Well she seems fine. She is hot though, which could be from the blankets and us keeping her warm. But I wanna keep an eye on her, just in case it's a fever." Lana told them.
They nodded.

After a few days Zephyr was back at home and Zephyr came downstairs and they were sitting on the couch.

"Mommy?" Zephyr said. Astrid looked at her.

"What is it sweetie?" Astrid asked. Zephyr walked over to them.

"I'm sorry I didn't listen about the ice." Zephyr said. Astrid picked her up and sat Zephyr on her lap.

"It's alright. But thats why we tell you to stay away from it this time of year." Astrid told her.

"We're just glad you were safe." Hiccup said kissing Zephyrs head. "Come on, let's put you to bed." He took Zephyr to her room and Hiccup stayed with her and fell asleep.

Astrid saw them and smiled knowing that their new baby would be so loved.
