At lunchtime, I walk into the cafeteria with the guys. Luke is mostly avoiding me, while everyone's attention is focused on us.

We're all wearing black shades, and I'm in the middle as usual. We line up for lunch. Jordan heads over to meet Stephanie, who's waiting to feed him, while Kyle is busy making out with his girlfriend. The rest of the guys stick with me.

I order a double cheeseburger, a large portion of fries, and a big drink. I know I eat a lot when I'm hungry. Jacob orders two double cheeseburgers and a large drink, Justin gets a cheeseburger with wedges and a soda, Carlos opts for three slices of pizza and a large drink, and Luke orders a double cheeseburger, a slice of pizza, fries, and a soda.

As we walk to our table, Stephanie's friends watch me closely. I ask, "You guys lose something?" and the guys chuckle.

A girl approaches our table, and Carlos starts flirting with her. Within minutes, they're making out. Justin rolls his eyes, Luke's glued to his phone, Jacob looks sick, and I've lost my appetite.

An empty seat next to me gets filled by Daniel, a boy from the varsity team. He asks, "So, A, still up for that date?"

Jacob chokes on his drink, Luke finally looks up, Carlos stops making out, and Justin is shocked.

I respond, "I told you already, no. Now get lost." Just as he's about to protest, Jordan arrives and says, "You're in my seat, buddy. Get up." Daniel complies, and Jordan sits down, adding, "And give me the paper with Anne's number."

Daniel hands it over and leaves. By the time things settle, Daniel is making out with one of Stephanie's friends. That's why I wouldn't date him—he's a player.

Jordan says, "No need to thank me. He's a jerk anyway; you deserve better." I nod in agreement.

I spot Stephanie making out with a jock—someone other than her ex. I tell Jordan, "You barely last forty-eight hours with her." He shrugs, saying he'll have another girl by tomorrow. What a player.

I turn to Jacob and say, "You owe me a hundred bucks. Pay up."

Jordan gasps, "You were betting on me?"

I shrug, "Yeah, I knew I'd win." Jacob hands me a hundred bucks, and I pocket it.

After school, I hop on my motorcycle and head home. I'm not interested in dating; all the guys are players.

I park my bike in the garage and go inside, hungry. I order pizza while I take off my leather gloves and boots.

When the doorbell rings, I open it to find a familiar hot guy with blonde hair and brown eyes—he's from geography class.

He says, "That'll be $12.00," smiling at me. I hand him the money and feel a warm rush when our hands brush. I blush and take the pizza.

"Thanks," I say, closing the door. Why am I feeling this way?

I sit down in the living room with my pizza and soda, propping my feet on the table while watching TV. I receive a text from Justin.

Jerk: Hi Ana, what are you doing?

Me: Nothing much, watching TV. My dad isn't home yet.

Jerk: My mom really likes you and wants to see you soon.

Me: Really? I'll check her tomorrow; tell her that.

Jerk: I will; she'll be so happy.

I smile and shake my head, then watch TV. Good Luck Charlie is on, my favorite show since I was ten. Just then, my dad comes home, looking exhausted.

"Pizza! I haven't had that in a long time," he says, sitting next to me. He takes a slice and asks, "Now about what happened last night—care to explain?"

I sigh and recount the events, then start to cry, missing my mother. My dad comforts me, and we order more pizza. The same guy delivers it again.

We watch TV for two hours before he heads to his office. I doubt he and Chelsea will work out.

After bathing, I put on skinny jeans and a tank top; it's 6:00 PM.

"Dad, I'm going out. I'll be back," I say.

"Be back by 9 and bring some pancake syrup," he replies.

I get in my car and drive aimlessly, eventually ending up at the twins' house. I knock on the door.

A man in his forties with brown hair and blue eyes answers. "How may I help you?"

"Are the twins home?" I ask.

"Yes, they're in their rooms playing video games. I can tell them you dropped by. What's your name?"

"Anastasia Montez," I respond. He stiffens.

"Is Mr. Montez related to you?"

"Yeah, he's my father," I say. The man pulls me inside and closes the door.

"You can find the boys upstairs. I'll be in my office if you need anything," he says, surprising me with his quickness.

I nod and head upstairs, hearing voices by the third door. I lean against it.

"Ha! I beat you again, in your face!" Jordan exclaims.

Jacob laughs, "Actually, I won, not you, Jordan."

I open the door to find the shirtless twins on the floor playing video games. Jacob greets me, "Hi! How did you find my secret hideout?" I roll my eyes.

"I'm a stalker," I smirk.

Jacob gasps. "Quick, Jordan, grab her! She's the stalker I've been talking about. We'll kill her and bury her in the forest."

Jordan smirks and stands up. I take a step back, ready to run, but he grabs me. I kick him where it hurts, and he falls to the floor, groaning.

"Don't ever touch me, Jordan! And Jacob, I'm not a stalker, you idiot. I just got bored and came here."

I sit down on the floor, taking control. Jacob says, "I'm going to win, Anne. Mark my words."
