Chand-Mund saw the dark and scary feminine figure, roaring and blazing fear in the hearts of Asurs. The Asur brothers composed themselves from the shock and looked the goddess.

Suddenly they saw several goddesses - Mata Laxmi, Mata Saraswati, Indrani and many in the sky along with Amarsri and Srinav.

"Itni sari deviya ? Hume darshan dene aayi hai ?" Chand said checking them out.

"Humare bhagya khul gaye lagta hai." Mund said lewdly.

"Bhagya khule nahi hai, apetu unka annt hone wala hai." Mata Laxmi said.

"Jab devta humara kuch na bigad paye, Tridev mukh chhupa kar baithe hai toh streeya kya kar payengi ?" Chand said.

"Murkh Asur ! Nari ko ksheen samajhta hai ? Bhul hai teri." Mata Saraswati said.

"Chand-mund, bhulna mat Indrani mei bhi utni hi shakti hai jitni Indra mei. Tumhara annt ek nari ke hatho hi hoga." Indrani said.

"Yeh ?! Yeh akshamya, nirbal nari humara kya bigad legi !?" Mund taunted pointing at Mata Kali.

"Murkh ! Akshamya nahi hai woh ! Kali hai ! Mahakali hai woh ! Sansaar ke sabhi prachand shaktiyo ka pratik hai woh ! Para-shakti hai woh !" Srinav said.

"Tumhare samne sakshat kaal hai Chand-Mund !" Amarsri said.

"Accha ? Toh yeh aaye aur humse yudh kare." Chand said.

At that Mata Kali roared instilling fear in the hearts of Asurs.

"Chand-Mund ! Aaj tumne mujhe nahi apni mrityu ko awahan diya hai ! Aao !" Mata Kali said.

Both Asurs scoffed and lunged at her, a terrible fight took place and it wasn't long when Chand-Mund knew they had messed up and there is no going back now.

Soon Mata Kali angrily raised her khadag and with one swing beheaded them both together. She took their heads and tied their hair together, wearing them as a garland.

"Chand-Mund ka sanghaar huya, aaj se devi ka yeh swaroop Chamunda ke naam se jana jayega." Mata Laxmi proclaimed.

"Om Aim Hrim Klim Chamundaye Viche !" Everyone hailed.

The army of Asur came were shocked seeing the dead bodies of their commanders thus lunged at their death, Mata Kali to seek revenge.

The goddess roared and blazed as she beheaded them one by one, there was no place for them to hide. The gods from above themselves clutched their hearts at the merciless massacre.

Soon the news of Chand-Mund's death reached Sumbh-Nisumbh they were in disbelief. They couldn't understand that how can strong asurs like them were killed by a woman.

"Ho na ho woh stree mayavi hai." Nisumbh said.

"Mayavi nahi, woh koi apar shakti hai. Jise halke mei nahi liya jaa sakta." Sumbh said.

"Toh hum kya kare ?" Nisumbh asked.

"Ab hume uska awahan karna hoga jiski mrityu hi uska jeevan hai." Sumbh said.

"Kaun ?" Nisumbh asked confused.

"RAKTABEEJ !" Sumbh called.

In some stories, Mata Durga appears first and in other stories Mata Kali appears first.

I thought to show Mata Kali first as it accommodates with the story line. Mahishasur will appear later in Treta yug.
