Personality: Laurence was very arrogant and conceited when he first started at Hogwarts. He was somewhat of a bully and made fun of his classmates. But he ended up getting humbled when he found out his sexuality and his dormmates made fun of him for it. He became a much nicer person after that.

Backstory: Laurence's mother died giving birth to him, and his father remarried later on. Laurence liked his stepmother but hated Angela. They constantly played pranks on each other, some funny, some mean. One day, Angela pushed Laurence in a well and he almost drowned. Luckily he managed to use his magic to fly out of the well, but the incident made him feel terrified of Angela. His stepmother had been a Muggle born witch, so she sent him to a Muggle school. Laurence didn't like being put with Muggles and constantly bullied Amelia because she reminded him of Angela. One day, he cut Amelia's hair, causing her to cry and the scissors flew out of his hand and out of the window. Laurence realized that Amelia was a witch and left her alone after that.

Amelia initially feared Laurence but after they started attending Hogwarts together, she stopped being afraid of him and started standing up to him. Laurence continued to have a heated rivalry with Amelia, but when he was bullied for being bisexual, Amelia went to comfort him. He started having feelings for Cedric, but he rejected him because he liked Cho Chang. Not wanting to go to the Yule Ball without a date, he asked Amelia after being rejected by Cedric. Amelia had already agreed to go with Ron as friends and said no. Laurence ended up going with Astoria, Daphne's younger sister.

Laurence was devastated after Cedric died and Amelia wrote to him during the holidays to comfort him. He started to have feelings for Amelia and asked her out several times. But Amelia rejected him as she was in love with Neville. Laurence became depressed and flatly refused to be part of Umbridge's Industrial Squad. He ran away from home in the summer between fifth and sixth year. With nowhere to go, he ended up on the streets. Amelia found him and took him to her home. After a talk, they agreed to stay friends.
