A white man killed eight people. Six of them were Asians. A ninth person is in hospital.

The police said "he was having a really bad day."

The shootings took place at a massage parlour in Acworth, a suburb north of Atlanta, and two spas in the city itself three days ago. They were Asian owned businesses.

The gunman said he was struggling with a sex addiction, a sheriff's office spokesman said and had attempted "to take out that temptation".

"Yesterday was a really bad day for him, and this is what he did."

"a really bad day."

"a really bad day."

"a really bad day."

When I have a really bad day I distract myself by reading, listening to music or I watch a programme.

I do not kill eight people and injure a ninth.

He said it wasn't motivated by race, the attacker said he's not racist, he just suffers from a sex addiction yet he walks into Asian owned businesses and kills six Asians and the police believe him.

This is so infuriating that the police are too blind to see that this was clearly motivated by race.

This is an example of white supremacy.

The police don't want to admit that a white person can be a terrorist. Letting the attacker decide for himself whether race was involved ignores the racism in the US.

There's still a deeper history of Asian American women being associated with hyper-sexuality.

Describing a "temptation" that haunted the attacker pushes responsibility away from him and on to the women he killed.

Framed this way, the problem is the existence of these massage parlours, or the actions of these women. The issue is not with him.

The attacker couldn't resist his sex addiction "temptation" so he pulled out a gun. His racist mind and sexualisation of Asian women led him to shoot.

Asian women are portrayed as being submissive. A fetish. Objects. "Tiger lady"

This needs to end now.

We are NOT your fetish. We are NOT objects.

This is an example of white supremacy and misogyny.

"It's scary just to be an Asian American woman," said one woman.

She's scared because of her ethnicity, because of who she is, because of her roots and her culture.

And she's not the only one...
