"..." I leaned against the wall of an alley that I had been in for three days.

Hungry...

I took a deep breath before my legs gave out, causing me to slump over on the ground.

Thirsty...

I stared blankly at the ground, until a piece of paper flew by. I watched it glide elegantly, going wherever the wind went.

Breaking...

An excruciating pain attacked my stomach, causing me to tear up.

So...

This... is how I'm going to die?

I heard footsteps. One by one, each increased in sound. I realized that they were heading my way.

Maybe death is coming to release me from this despair...

A person dressed in black with a white  skull-like mask finally came into view.

Death...

"..." He stopped in his tracks, and turned to face me. "...?" I looked at him. "..." He remained silent. "Are you dying, girl?" He asked, his deep voice sending chills up my spine. I nodded slowly. Due to my lack of energy and strength, I couldn't accomplish anything more than blinking and nodding.

Can't you tell?

He held out his hand, which was covered with a glove that had metal, pointy tips.

Why...

Is he...?

"I'll help you." He said, as my eyes widened. I reached for his hand, slowly, and grabbed it, causing him to pick me up, carrying me on his back. "It'll be better soon." He said, as I started to slowly close my eyes.

Why...

My luck is on my side...?

This is a rare occasion...

<Numbani • 9:24 A.M. • Present Day>

"Ugh..." I said, yawning. I had just woken up from a dream... That was a flashback, which is odd. I sat up, for I had been sleeping on a crappy bed, in a crappy apartment complex. Hey, at least it's better than sleeping outside, and it was pretty cheap, too. "Okay. Shower..." I said, walking to the bathroom. I looked at myself in the mirror, my messy blonde blue and pink hair going past my shoulders in terms of length. "Oh joy... I look like a crazy person." I said, staring at the bags under my eyes, due to lack of sleep. I had recently moved to Numbani, which was a pretty nice place to live. The people who lived there were all friendly, and everyone seemed to always be smiling. I sighed, turning away from my morning appearance reflected in the mirror, and running the water. 'Cold or warm shower...? Or, should I say... Wake up shower or sleepy shower?' I asked myself. "Alright... Cold shower it is." I yawned, pulling the small knob on the tub's faucet, causing the water to flow from the shower nozzle. I closed the curtain, so I wouldn't get water everywhere, and I walked back into my bedroom. I paused at the doorway, a poster on my wall catching my eye. It was a poster I had found a while back. It was for Overwatch. The elite squad of heroes who helped everyone during the omnic crisis years ago. Back when I saw this on a wall of a building, I had to beg Dad-- No, Gabriel, to let me keep it. He of course said no. But later that night, I had snuck out and snatched it, hiding it under my bed. "Heh..." I said, smiling slightly, before walking over to my dresser and grabbing some clothes. 'I was such a troublemaker...' I said, taking one last glance at the poster before running back to the bathroom.

<Numbani • 10:09 A.M. • Present Day>

"Ah... That's much better!" I said, looking at my showered self in the mirror. I had my dyed hair up in pigtails, one side was pink, the other was blue, and the rest of my hair was down. I wore a light purple tank top, with a grey short sleeved jacked(that I left unzipped.), a pair of light blue shorts, and I wore my striped thigh-high socks, with my knee high converse sneaker-boots. "Hehe!" I said, making finger guns at my reflection. I stared at myself. "Well... I guess I had better head out, I heard that there's someone who's gonna play some good music today!" I said, walking out the door.
