It had been two months since Hazel Thornton had moved to ThistleBrook. She had long ginger-brown hair, with green eyes. She moved with her parents and had to start high school, again. She had made friends, Phoenix, Zack and a few others. Apart from that she was seen as an outcast, always isolated...

As Hazels eyes opened, she lay at the back of the mini bus. As the vehicle jolted to a halt, so did her hopes of avoiding the trip. As she clambered out of the mini bus she got strange looks from the girls. They all huddled in groups and laughed like a bunch of hyenas, if only they could see themselves. First they had to hike up the mountain. The boys were on a different bus and would be taking another route.  She wouldn't see Phoenix or Zack for a few days. Great, she thought to herself. As the girls hiked up the mountain to their area, Hazel trailed behind. Anything, anything else she thought. After she had finished hiking, she followed the girls to the dorm. The dorms were house-like shelters made from tree logs. She chose the end dorm with no one in it, hoping she would be alone. As much to her liking, she was. The dorm had only one bed compared to the others what had three or four. She had a small dresser, a mirror, a light and a window. Hazel put her clothes away and belongings away. On top of the dresser was a key.
She took it, and placed it inside the keyhole, as it turned the door locked. She unlocked it, pocketed the key. Closed the window and went outside. Behind her she locked the door. Hazel started walking in the direction of the canteen and the campfire, but hesitated as she heard girls screams from the dorms. She turned around and moved as fast as her legs would carry her to her dorm. As she opened the door and locked herself in, she closed the curtain at the window. She sat on her bed, listening to see if she was safe.
