The machine is an original creation of Master Taoro. He started working on its design years before the Brilliance. He was then transferred to the island of Bickra, where he continued his study and experiments about lakar and he created the machine. Lakar is mined only on Bickra.

During the Sulunese war, the island of Bickra was invaded and an unknown event caused the machine to explode, destroying everything on the island including all the lakar in its soil. This event is catastrophic and was later on called the Brilliance.

After the Brilliance, Kazuri became successful in recreating the machine.

The sky port is a mode of transportation for Darackans to climb up mountains or tepuis. Several ancient cities in the kingdom were built on top of mountains when the population were still mostly flyers as history tells. When the population of the flyers dwindled, and most people lost the ability to fly, sky ports were created.

Sky ports are gigantic pulleys that can carry people inside a cage-like crate connected to the top of a cliff by chains. These pulleys are usually controlled with nyxes. In Biran, the sky port uses a horse, which is an animal not native to Daracka, but has come from Suluna illegally.
