S- annika can you just listen to me atleast once? Give some days , some time ,I'm sure then

A- you're saying this because you don't know charu

S- no I'm insisting because I know her very well . She's not in the state of mind to even have you any close hy her .

A- shivaay she broke the engagement.

S- exactly annika! Do you realize what she must be going through ? Don't do anything stupid.

His voice seemed loud this time for he emphasized his each and every word clearly , stomping the break infront of OM. Annika gritted her teeth glaring at him and she jumped out of the car before soon .

A- my fault, I shouldn't have asked you. In your opinion I'm the biggest stupid on earth ! Why would you even listen to me . That's why I asked you to not inter

S- not a word more! Bas annika! Please just don't talk to me only. Andhar jao please.

He screamed in between to shut her and she was already shocked . Without saying anything she walked ahead .

Suddenly her ankle twsited and she tripped by the doorstep but he caught her elbow from behind before she could fall .

S- careful.

Immediately she jolted off to remain out of his grip and walked straight to the room withholding a stiff reaction on her face. Shivaay just stood there and sighed watching her fastly retreating figure . His world was surrounded by stubborn and impulsive and tempered and what not kind of people . It's ok, he has to and he can manage everything.

Next day

Everytime the notification alarmed, she would grab the mobile with hands of hurry and eyes of curiosity. But it was just the school and college groups which exploded with wish messages for her . She expected her father's message atleast this early if not charu but it didn't happen yet . Annika was upset. Seated infront of the mirror , she combed her hair lazily . And that's when her sight fell on something. She got up and rushed to push him away for he was flabbergasted.

He watched her picking a dress from the floor on which he had been standing all this time .

A- what's this shivaay ?

She asked frustratedly.

S- I'm sorry I didn't notice .

A- didn't notice matlab ? Did you roam around with eyes closed , come on shivaay !

S- annika , first ,look how messy the room is . It's your fault .

She blinked and breathed out a defeated sigh . She herself was unaware of how the dress slipped from bed and fell down . Maybe this oreo dragged it off , perfect ! She chose to wear it for today but , it was already spoiled with stains and dust all over . Well , her special day was becoming really special now.

A- chod .

He was waiting for her to start an argument but this was unexpected though. She silently dropped it inside the laundry basket and continued combining her hair . It's ok , as if everything else was going super good today .She convinced herself.

Annika wanted some attention. None from her family had wished her till now . And that itself was making her insane , so she decided to let him know . Maybe he could fill the big void , she craved . Annika being the person who wouldn't mind any earlier disputes , as her actions were kind of then and there she forgot all their fights and conflicts ,choosing to speak with him . Few words from her prince can make her super happy , she wanted to be super happy this day .

She saw him seated on the couch, when she came from the pool side . Clearing her throat she brought her words out .

A- uhh shivaay , you can pick me at 1 today . Actually I take an half day off on my birthdays every year , so I'll be doing it today too .

With a slight stammer , with a slight hesitation she did complete it correctly and awaited his reaction. Shivaay stood up and looked at her for a second, her eyes were blooming with eagerness which she tried hiding. But all her excitement remained short lived when he turned immediately and left without speaking anything. From somewhere and somehow an immediate tear ran down her right eye which she wiped roughly.

Anger is ok but he could have atleast ...! No , this atleast list in her mind was overflowing already . Enough annika , she said to herself without knowing what actually happened .

S- no I'm not at all satisfied guys, please cooperate and come up with something else ok ? Yeah , do it .

He removed the bluetooth from his ear and went to the dining hall not knowing what his but not his deliberate action has actually done .

Adi was finding it very difficult to convince his mother who was still crying infront of him . He leapt to catch hold of her hands and gripped them within his.

Ad - maa please don't cry ,I won't do this again I promise . Try to understand me mom , you know, you know what she did , charu ne

A sharp slap landed on his face before he could finish. He shivered and crushed his eyes feeling the pain . And when he opened them Praniti's strong glare fell on his sight .

Ad - mom bas , shh I won't drink after this I promise .

Adi felt really guilty for pushing his mom to this state . Only when he stressed his touch on her hand saying this ,she looked a quite ok . He turned to pick his mobile on hearing the notification sound . She watched him crush his eyes after noticing something on the phone.

Pr- kya huwa ?

Ad - how did I forget this ! It's annika's birthday today , school group mei sab wish kar chukke hain....ok mom I'll have to leave bye !

He kissed her cheek once and jumped down from the bed in hurry .

Ad - annika.

' nahi muje nahi chahiye ye tablet , please ! I want my blue crayon now !! Sheeb sheeba stole it , sky kaise colour karunga ab , nahi nahi don't want '

' jasmin I'll get you another one , take your medicine now ! '

The nurse raised her voice and insisted the same thing but the patient didn't agree at all . Annika who was checking the other patient , saw this and stepped closer by them .

A- but jasmin the sky looks different now na ,look it's going to rain soon tho it's fully like grey in colour ,deko deko !

She pulled the window screen away to make the sight outside visible for jasmin who stared the clouds keenly .

' pa par there is no grey colour crayon , ab kya karoon? Sheeba you have grey colour crayon with you?'

Jasmin called out for sheeba who twisted her mouth and turned the other side at once .

A- it's ok , let's use black and white. Thoda black thoda white, aagaya grey !

There was a bright smile on jasmin's face when she saw annika colouring the clouds mixing two shades.

' hey!! Ye tho magic hogaya , super ! Sheeba look I don't want anything from you , I have grey colour too , hmm!'

Annika chuckled noticing the way she smirked .

A- ok , now you can continue . See this cloud is still pending , yelo ...ek minute ...!

She reverted back from giving the crayon and jasmin pouted immediately.

' what happened?'

A- next badminton match haina ,how will you beat sheeba if you don't have energy .

' energy ?'

A- hmm,and this is energy chocolate .

' joot chocolate will be in brown colour '

Annika turned passing a smile at the nurse when jasmin spoke showing the brown crayon.

A- white chocolate hai ye .

' really ?'

A- hmm !

' tho teek hai , I have to win ! I have to beat sheeba '

Jasmin grabbed the tablet from annika's hand and sipped some water after swallowing it .

Annika stood up showing a thumbs up to jasmin .

A- they may look grown up , but they are still kids from here . I know as a new intern it must be hard for you to handle all of them , but please try .Instead of forcing and shouting at them , invest time to divert them. They'll travel with us automatically .

She spoke the first few words pointing her head and gave the crayons to the nurse who nodded smiling.

Suddenly there was a hustle surrounding the space when someone wearing a weird suit entered holding a stick .

A- hello who are you ? What are you doing here ?

' I'm from the bomb squad , our team received a threat call that's why we're here .'

She was shocked on hearing this .

A- what! Bomb...par can you be blunt please. We have to move the patients if it's confirmed. I have to call the dean and make the announcement.

Annika was frustrated when the man continued searching without paying any heed to her panicked words .

A- excuse me I'm speaking to you !! Nurse , call the intercom .

' ok '

A- hello excuse me .

She kept running behind the person while the patients watched the scene silently.

And suddenly they heard the beep sound when the stick passed through something and annika's ground slipped off her feet that second .

A- oh my God !! Sheeba, jasmin , rohit everyone run go out !! Now! Ye mera bag hai , what..how

' that you have to tell mam '

He checked the bag and inside it a box was found with some digital clock stuck to it . She was petrified like hell . She kept shouting at everyone , asking them to move out .

A- oh my god !! I'll go inform the dean and clear the hospital.

' we don't have time '

A- what !?

Boom !The blast happened .

Her loud squeal was heard immediately and the place was surrounded with shining coloured wrappers flying everywhere. All the patients came inside after hearing the sound.

' Happy birthday to you....happy birthday to you...happy birthday to meri annika happy birthday to you!!!'

Her chest pounded front and back for a few seconds ,she opened her eyes slowly to soon notice her dear friend's face hidden inside that helmet. He dragged the words and sang heartily with a serene grin on his lips . And soon all the patients and workers gathered there to join the quair . Annika narrowed her eyes at him before hugging him tightly, still continuing her work of punching his shoulder.

A- monkey! Dar gayi yaar ...

He smiled hearing her whine and rubbed his palm over her head softly .

Ad - wow ! I think I can become a mimicry artist now .

She knocked his head when he mimicked again .

A- when did you keep it in my bag ?

Ad - just some minutes back . Enough enough, it's cake time .

Everyone started singing once again while Adi lit the candles pressed to the cake . And her face contained a pleasant smile throughout.

' what's happening here ?'

Their song's volume reduced when the dean entered . Annika bit her lips , crushing her eyes .

A- uhh sir I'm sorry, this , this is my friend.

Ad - hello Doctor .

The dean scanned him from top to down without forwarding his hand and Adi shrugged taking his hand back .

' your disturbing the patients , I can't allow this '

A- actually

Ad - no way ! Look how happy they are , I guess you can start distributing cakes instead of boring tablets everyday.

The dean glared at him for a second , while annika stomped Adi's legs immediately.

Ad - ahh annika !

' let this be first and last, anyways , Happy birthday '

He left after wishing her .

Ad - hogaya come on come on!!

A- Adi dog , I could have lost my job because of you today.

She complained while being dragged by him .

Ad - everyone knows you're the best , nothing as such can happen . Come !

Everyone cheered and clapped when she blew the candles and cut the cake. She fed him the first slice and he pushed some content into her mouth too . And before she could realize he hurried up to rub the cream all over her face .

A- hey stupid monkey, ruk ...Adi ! Adi , pagal , ek minute mummy !

He grinned and smiled after completing the task but she was no less too . Without wasting a second, she grabbed his collars and rubbed her face on his cheek to take revenge . Adi jumped and danced like a single legged ostrich.

Ad - kya yaar !

A- monkey .

She grinned on hearing his whine and shared the cake with everyone there .

Annika smiled as she saw him distributing chocolates to everyone. Only she knew what is the literal state of his heart , his mind, how much in pain he is . But still he is here ,celebrating with her . For her sake , she was overwhelmed by this thought. That's why she would never think twice to run and be of any help for him at situations .

He shook his head when she frowned seeing the empty box .

Ad - no chocolates for you today , but...here ! You birthday gift .

Grabbing the box from him she started removing the wrapper curiously.

As she kept talking without noticing it the clown's head popped up from the box to hit her chin in force . She glared at him once again who in turn bit his lips to control the laughter.

Ad - what ...mein kya karoon? Unusually you're being super naive and innocent today.

She was going to say something but something else caught her attention suddenly. A nice pretty brand new watch was clutched around the clown doll's tongue .

A- wow!

Ad - liked it ? I was actually confused you know , then I remembered your obsession towards watches . You still have the collection ?

A- I'll spare you for this alone .

Immediately she clutched it around her wrist and kept staring at it with eyes of joy .

Ad - your dean is going to shoot me for this mess , let me clean everything first .

Saying this he was about to turn but she held his hand and made him halt.

Ad - kya huwa ?

She quietly leaned on his arm and pressed her face on it . Not her parents ,not her sister, not her prince but her friend , he made her feel special about herself today . She felt emotional . Holding him tightly she crushed her eyes to withhold those tiny drops of tears .

A- thanks nahi bolungi.

He chuckled as she made this complain.

Ad - that is not needed but a hand for help in cleaning ?

She pinched his arm immediately.

Ad- aahhh!

A- go and do it yourself, punishment for giving me panic attacks today !

Annika pushed him away and walked ahead making him whine like a baby .

Ad - annika please na , acha fine where is the broom ?

A- scan and find it using that stupid stick of your's.

She replied without turning back and he smiled noticing the way she kept admiring the watch on her wrist for like within every few seconds.

Love is when you sit beside someone, doing nothing , yet you feel perfectly happy 💘
