Chapter Twenty
We're A Camp, Not Two People

3rd Person POV

the next day, ronnie woke up and she got dressed as she left the cabin and met up with everyone in the mess hall

"morning sleeping beauty" nate said and he handed her a cup of apple juice as she took it with a smile

"thank you" she said and she walked over to jason and the kids

"so when should we tell them?" he asked and she sighed as she noticed nate right behind them listening

"tell us what?" he asked and everyone turned to them

"something happened last night" ronnie said and nate's heart sped up as he looked between ronnie and jason

"between you two?" he asked in fear and ronnie quickly noticed

"wow what no, um jason you tell them" she said and he nodded as she sat down next to the kids and one of them reached their hand out. she grabbed and squeezed for comfort

"so last night we went to camp star..." jason began before mitchie interrupted

"what, why? ronnie do you let them?" mitchie asked and she sighed

"i was there with them mitchie. jason continue" ronnie spoke and he nodded

"they're good like really good and i don't know if we have the chance we thought we did anymore" jason said and ronnie sighed

"ronnie do you agree?" shane asked and she looked up

"i mean their performance is smoke and mirrors, ours is natural but people love smoke and mirrors" ronnie spoke and nate nodded as he stood next to her

"we um we have the recording if you guys want to see it" jason said and they nodded as the kid handed them the camera and ronnie sighed. they got to the video and she handed it over as they watched

"ronnie do you think we can win?" nate asked and she sighed

"i don't know anymore nate but i really hope so" she said and he agreed with her before they turned and looked at jason again

"and the stage was like super cool" one of the kids spoke

"it's huge" she said and ronnie nodded as she leaned her head against nate's shoulder

"wait, wait , wait. hold on. so it's just tess and luke singing?" shane asked

"obviously they have to have the spotlight" ronnie spoke and jason agreed

"yeah, pretty much. everybody else is doing something but they're definitely the stars" jason stated

"but this makes it so much easier. we can totally win this thing" peggy said

"how so?" mitchie alsed

"oh come on even i get it, i don't care what they're singing but you and shane with nate and ronnie are better than tess and luke anyday" ella said and ronnie blushed with nate

"but shane and i aren't even singing together" mitchie spoke

"yeah but you originally wrote the song as a duet" caitlyn stated

"i know but i..." mitchie said

"you're our two strongest singers well besides ronnie" barron said and ronnie smiled gratefully

"and we know you have chemistry" caitlyn said

"it's just everybody worked so hard" mitchie spoke and ronnie looked down at the kids to see their faces and she sighed as she wrapped an arm around one of them and rubbed her hand over their arm

"yeah, to help save the camp. if the two of you singing alone on stage can help us win, then you have to do it" caitlyn stated

"then it's settled" peggy concluded

"but it's not. guys i promised these kids a spot, we promised them. we can't take that away, we're a camp , not two people" ronnie said and the kids smiled at her

"we have the choreography and everything, it's not just going to be them and i'm saying that. we work together as a camp not as a duo, not as a trio. a camp , understood?" ronnie spoke

"understood" they all said and the kids walked out of the mess hall as she followed after them

"hey, guys. you still have a part" she said and they looked up at her

"because of you but it'll be small and in the background and it won't matter" he said and she shook her head

"you guys are the heart and soul of camp rock, you're going to carry on our legacy and keep this camp going. maybe it'll be small but it will matter" she exclaimed and they smiled as she looked at the camera

"hey can i see this?" she asked and they nodded as they handed it to her and she laughed at the videos

"you guys had fun this summer, even with all the work?" she asked and they nodded

"are you kidding? best summer ever , thank you ronnie" he said and she raised her eyebrows in confusion

"me, why are you thanking me?" she questioned and they all looked at each other before looking at her

"you are a ray of sunshine ronnie, they were right and you helped us" she said and she leaned forward as she hugged them and they hugged her back

"hey is it okay if i show mitchie this? it might spark a thought" she asked as she held up the camera

"be careful, jason already dropped it in the water" he said and she nodded

"i'll protect it with my life, i love you guys" she said and she ran back into the mess hall

"mitchie new plan" ronnie said and mitchie turned to her

"what's up?" mitchie asked and she handed her the camera

"the kids are keeping their part alright, and this , this camera id going to help us" she said and mitchie smiled as she stared at the camera with a smile

"new plan?" she asked

"new plan" she exclaimed before they turned to the others

"new plan. meet in ten minutes" she said and they ran off to speak to each other

the plan had to work, right?
