Sometimes in life, we do things that we aren't proud of. Some of us have memories that would scar others, some of us have a past so dark that people would run away screaming when they saw the things going on in your head.

My secrets, my memories, my past, it was all hidden away by my red door. That red door was open, and I can't close it. It's only a matter of time before my past catches up to me once again. Because some things in life cannot be erased no matter how hard you fight.

I learned that exactly two-hundred and two years ago, the day Aleksander and I decimated the planet Viola.

________
________

Surtur wanted them extinct. He wanted the entire species of Viola extinct, for they were attempting to reach out to the Shadow Proclamation about the crimes committed by Muspelheim.

Even if Viola was able to reach the Shadow Proclamation in time, they couldn't so much. The Nine Realms was one of the only parts in the Universe that the Shadow Proclamation had no say in. The most the Shadow Proclamation could do would be to send back up to some planets in hopes that it would stop Muspelheim.

Other than that, all the nine realms were under the protection of Asgard and its people. There was nothing to be done.

Surtur knew this, but he was annoyed that Viola had the audacity to even try and go to them. And so, like clockwork, he sent his two children to take care of the issue.

Before Persephone and Aleksander left, Surtur and Aleksander spoke privately. They spoke about a matter that was to do with Persephone, a matter which Persephone had no clue about.

You see, Persephone had always physically looked more like Surtur where her brother had always looked more like his mother. However, when it came to personality traits, that was not the case. Surtur and Aleksander were identical in their sadistic hateful nature.

Persephone, on the other hand, had received too much of her mother's personality in Surtur's opinion. He knew no matter how hard his daughter tried to keep it from him, that she was too soft. Too caring, as one may put it.

Surtur tried. Oh, did he try to teach his daughter how to be sadistic in nature, to be heartless. All he ended up doing was teaching her how to lie, how to lie to him about her feelings. No, even when he tried to teach her to be sadistic and lied pretending to take enjoyment in it, he could see right through her. She was his daughter, after all, he could see how much she disliked it.

Aleksander knew this as well, he was her twin. He tried along with his father to teach her the sadistic side of life. However, even though he was her twin, the closest person to her, he too reached nothing with her.

Finally, both males realized Persephone could not be changed by herself, and so that lead to the spell, or rather curse that they put her under. Yes, both did love her, in their own sick twisted way, but they still saw no problem in forcing the change within.

The worst part, Persephone had no clue to the curse she was under.

***

It was one night after Persephone had fallen asleep, that Surtur and Aleksander both snuck into her room. Stroking her cheek tenderly, Surtur listened to his daughter's calm breathing. Looking up toward his son who watched his sister with an equal amount on tenderness, Surtur nodded.

"It is time." He whispered, Surtur placing his right hand atop Persephone's chest, closing his eyes.

It had been long while since Surtur cast a curse, but nothing would stop him from doing this. His browns eyes changed to red, his true form beginning to shine through as the King of Muspelheim chanted a curse, to place his daughter under.

"Change thine true nature of light to one of the dark. Allow thy soul to bask in black, the light shall not shine through. Free from the chains of guilt and away from the valley of good, to hallows of hell. Rage shall claw through her veins and no mercy will be bestowed upon her victims. Unleash the darkness hidden within!"

The curse was so simple and yet it had a massive effect. Persephone's eyes flew open, her peaceful sleep disturbed by an iciness spreading throughout her veins. Persephone tried clawing at her throat, only for Aleksander to hold down her arms watching in unmasked curiosity as his sister changed before his eyes.

Persephone looked to her father and brother in betrayal, she never thought they'd take it this far. The Goddess tried so hard to fight the curse spreading through her veins, and yet it was an attempt for nothing.

Persephone's squirming stopped, herself freezing as the iciness crept closer to her heart. Aleksander and Surtur both looked at each other when they saw her no longer squirming, instead, looking dazed off into nothing.

It was silent, Aleksander trying to read his sister's blank expression.

"Did it work?" He whispered to his father.

Before Surtur could answer, the chilling ice had finally reached Persephone's heart. The second the ice was there, it erupted into unmasked fire wrapping within. Rage twisted its way throughout her body, her eyes changing to glaring red irises.

Persephone's mouth opened, a bellowing scream echoing around as she sat up. Aleksander and Surtur were thrown back, the candles fire bursting up in untamed flames.

Persephone's body glowed, the ground shaking as the Goddess of Fire was cursed to the dark.

'The light shall not shine through!' Surtur's voice echoed about, a random passage from the curse he put on his daughter, enunciating itself.

The bellowing scream shook the castle to its core, every living being within a five-mile radius claiming they heard her scream. A few seconds after it started, it stopped. Everything.

Persephone's glowing eyes dimmed back to blue, eyelids fluttering closed as she fell back on her bed. Sleep overtook the young Goddess, the curse exploring every crevice of her body made itself at home in the confines of her mind.

Surtur and Aleksander looked to the sleeping Persephone with huge eyes, based on that reaction, they were assuming it worked. From that day forward, Persephone would not be the same for a long, long time.

She would be exactly the daughter her father had tried so hard to make her into, she would be something made from darkness.

"Father, you're absolutely positive this curse won't fail today? We are annihilating an entire planet, I can't risk Persephone reverting back in the middle of it." Surtur who was sitting upon his throne, in his huge demonic form nodded.

"I am positive, it has not failed in the fifty years since we placed her under it, why would it fail today?" Surtur asked his son.

Aleksander shrugged, his paranoia about his sister randomly waking from her curse keeping him nervous. Aleksander quite liked Persephone under the curse, when she was under the curse, she adored him.

Yes, even before the curse was placed, she loved him, but since the darkness grasped her they had much more in common now. The twins were closer than ever with their similar sadistic mindset.

Surtur even had to admit that Persephone was much more affectionate toward himself than she had ever been. Not only that but now she would do whatever it was he asked of her with no fight.

However, these were the only two people she liked, everyone else was, unfortunately, a victim of her rage. Even her mother which she had no ill feelings toward before was now hated by Persephone.

"Because," Aleksander whispered, not wanting to chance Persephone eavesdropping. "She's showing signs of the curse breaking, I now see a conflict in her eye before she kills."

Surtur waved it off. "Just a phase, I am sure. The curse can only be broken by a powerful enough light, she has been exposed to no light." He reasoned with his son, motioning him off. "Now off you go, I want you to bring back the head of Viola's King."

With no more argument, Aleksander ran off, the twins running off to the planet Viola with no less than fifteen soldiers. Even in their small numbers, the twins marched the planet in genocide within the hour.

It wasn't until they got to the planet's capital, that Persephone stood to the side allowing her brother to take lead in tormenting the King. She leaned against the wall, her tiara stained with blood along with the rest of her warrior outfit.

They had long since killed the poor king's family, the King himself being the only one left alive of his planet.

"You know," Aleksander taunted, twirling his blood-soaked sword as the King watched him through an unwavering gaze. "My father requested we give him your head. He has quite the selection, you see."

The King simply sneered, refusing to die a coward. "I have already sent word to the Shadow Proclamation! They are on their way and you will all answer for your crimes!" The King met Persephone's gaze, Persephone simply smiling while waving.

Aleksander threw his head back, barking with condescending laughter. "By which time you will be dead and we will be gone. The Shadow Proclamation can do us no harm."

Clearing his throat, the King glared at Aleksander. "But they will not hesitate in telling the Doctor of this matter! Once they tell him of the genocide Muspelheim has been spreading around, the ripper twins! You think you're so high and mighty, just you wait until the Doctor gets his hands on you." The King chuckled, thinking about how the Doctor would make Muspelheim pay for what they've done.

What no one knew was that in just over two-hundred years, the very Goddess leaning against the wall would be the wife of that very Timelord.

Aleksander turned to him in rage. "Are you a fool? The Doctor has been banned from the eight out of the nine realms, we are under the protection of Asgard itself! Yes, we may not be the friendliest to each other, but are still of the nine realms. Even if the Doctor wanted to, he could not do anything about it unless Odin was to lift the law banning him!" Aleksander growled, the King giving no emotion away.

Slowly, the King leaned forward. "You will pay for your crimes." He whispered, before spitting on Aleksander.

Aleksander wiped the spittle off his face, eyes flashing in inhumane rage toward the King. However, even Aleksander's rage could not compare to Persephone's at that moment.

How dare he disrespect her brother in such a manner. Persephone would make the King pay with a fate much worse than death. She would show him who's truly answering for their sins. After all, no one was ever completely innocent.

Taking a calculating step forward she brought the attention onto to herself. "Are you sure it'll be us paying for our crimes?" Aleksander moved out of the way watching his sister with a smirk.

Persephone slowly moved until she was just in front of the King, her eyes glowing a powerful red. Leaning down, her hands made contact with the wall behind him, the stone crumbling under her force.

"I think it's about time you own up to your own sins," Aleksander smirked at his sister, he did love when she used the penance stare on people. "Feel the punishment of your sins." She hissed, voice coming out a mere whisper.

As her red eyes bore into his own, the King suddenly looked horrified his eyes reflecting the reds of Persephone's. A pained scream escaped him, as he twisted upon being sent to his own personal hell.

His eyes suddenly glazed over with stone, expression froze into one of a horror as his body went limp. Stepping away from him, Persephone licked her lips watching his body fall to the ground dead.

Aleksander stood to the side smirking, Persephone's mind suddenly reeling.

'This isn't right.' A voice whispered in her mind, causing Persephone to tilt her head in doubt.

Aleksander didn't miss it, and his mind shouted in concern that the curse would break.
