Alex grabbed my short hair, and started dragging me out Leo's home. It was painful, and I resisted his firm grasp. Leo ran up to me, he'd clearly heard my shouts.

Me: ALEX! GET OFF ME!!!
Al: Listen here, Catherine. You belong to me. You never had a choice. You're mine. You agreed this, remember? You don't have independence. Now, babe, get your stuff. I'm taking back what's mine.

When he finished speaking, he let go of my hair, and waited for me to walk out the door and back to his car with him. Instead,I didn't say a word. I stood there, shaking my head. I didn't want it to be real, and I wasn't going to give up my newfound freedom.

Leo was on the phone to the police, when I was hit. Alex had hit me around the head. I didn't move; the pain was too much. I stopped caring about now, and I started remembering when I met Alex. He'd practically erased those memories from me, by being so controlling, and it was all resurfacing again.

"Caaaaaath? You can't run forever? You love me, right?"

"Not when you're like this!"

"Catherine. Look at me."

"No!"

"LOOK AT ME"

"Ugh"

"Catherine. You're mine. You're not free and independent anymore. You're mine, and nothing will change that."

"Uh-huh..."

"Promise that you'll always be mine?"

"Uh-huh"

"Good girl. Now go and do what I asked you to do earlier..."

Leo: Cath? A... are you even awake I'm so sorry Cath I wish I could've defended you and I wasn't there even though I said I would be and I'm sorry and I... I don't know what I'm doing anymore, Cath...

Not a clue...

I sat up, or at least I tried to. I could only raise myself a little, and it took all the willpower I had in my frail body.

My eyes slowly opened, and I saw a very concerned Leo, his fringe flopping forwards into his face. He was adorable.

Me: L...Leo?

His face settled, and his smile grew wider. He pulled me into a tight hug, and began mumbling something about how he missed me and how much he loved me.

I pushed him away slightly, and I gave him a warm smile.

Me: I... I love you too, Leo, but I don't think it's gonna work out...
Leo: At least you love me, right? It won't matter if you do and it's meant to be and I can't live without you and I... I really care about you, Cath! Don't leave me!

My mind flashed back to when I promised Alex I wouldn't leave him...

Look where that promise got me...

Leo: Cath? Do you want pancakes?

It was about a week later, and Alex hadn't been near me since. Leo was protective, but he knew when to leave me be. I was recovering quickly, and surprisingly well, too.

Me: Yeah, sure! Sounds great!

I walked into the kitchen, where I found Leo singing, whilst tying his pink apron that said "kiss the cook". It was pretty hot to see a guy I loved in his natural habitat, relaxed and being himself. With Alex, I never saw the compassionate and caring side of him, and even on his most recent birthday, he still shut me out.

Leo: Cuz baby... you're gonna be the one that saves meeeee... and after aaaaallllllll... you're my wonderwaaaaaaaaaaalll!

As he finished singing, he spun round, and came face to face with me. I was trying so hard not to laugh, but Leo's confused, surprised and generally comic expression made it difficult.

He picked me up, and carried me over to the counter. He sat me down, and we talked about everything and anything whilst he made breakfast.

It was good.

My life was good.

Then, Leo's housemate got back home, and (much to my surprise) it was Geoff Vladimir.

The man who nearly killed my mother.

The man who I despised, almost as much as Alex...

A/N: oooooh cliffhanger!!! I honestly don't know where the story is going yet, so if everything seems rushed it's because I don't have a plan (yet?) and most of the time the story is unedited.

Not that it's a bad thing, it's just that I'm too busy to edit!
