just started book of circus,,FORGT HOW BLACK BUTLER WAS MY FAVORITE THING EVER

this series thankfully retcons the mess that was season 2 and the last half of season 1

its going bac to the manga thank goodness

some of my favorite things about this show

-ciel is a freaking little snot and i love him

look at this dumb bratty child i want to smack his cute cheeks

-sebastian the constantly exasperated struggling single father of 4

also sebastian is such  a dumb extra flamboyant piece of garbage i love him

give the man aspirin

i love the whole freaking set up of this series ok

so theres this little kid captured by a cult and they sacrifice him to summon a demon but the demons like "huh i kinda the human sacrifice better. hey kid wanna be my master"

black butler is so great with having totally evil protagonists but theyre so charming and ciel is sympathetic so like???

also sebastians true form never being shown is nice

the "please stay in here until i go to sleep" makes me sad bc ciel is just a scared kid who lost his parents and this freaking evil monster is the only kind of authority figure he has

i think it's debatable whether ciel actually sees sebastian as some sort of family figure, since his human form looks like a carbon copy of his dead father. sebastian, however, only sees ciel as food...but he seems to take pity on him at the very least

either way, this was a good first episode. this is how a first episode should go. it's a self contained story that establishes the characters and their motives and personalities. this felt more black butler than the last half of 1st half did
