Chapter 9- Happy Meals Will Never Die

Annabeth POV

"Now parry and strike!" I order. Campers do as their told and attack their partners.

"What are we training for anyway?" Someone groans. I look over to see an Haley, an Aphrodite girl. Apparently Piper hadn't set her straight yet.

"To defend ourselves against monsters and other enemies," answers my brother- an Athena boy.

"What enemies!? Nothing is gonna happen."

"There was a war," I say. "I've lived through three."

"But you're immortal doesn't count."

"I'm not. And you don't know when, gods forbid there will be war." Nick says he helps me teach class being the most skilled non immortal camper. Not surprising, he's the son of Zeus. (Yeah he broke the oath again...)

"I will give you thirty drachamas if something- which it won't- happens."

"You're on," smiles Nick.

That is when a meteor crashed landed on the other side of the arena.

I step toward the crater ushering other campers behind me.

"In position sir! Arming now!" A voice shouts. As the smoke clears I see the familiar uniform of a Chaos soldier. There are three of them. Next to them is a large metal... Something.

"Gonna tell me why you're in my camp?" I ask.

One turns to me, a girl with long green hair and blue skin. "I am Kristen. We are here on orders from our Commander who received orders from Riptide himself. You are Lady Annabeth correct?"

I nod slowly. "Good. He orders that you place up protective barriers around the planet. Enemy ships are headed this way."

"You owe me thirty drachamas," Nick says to Haley behind me. I ignore him.

"I want to talk to Riptide," I demand.

"He is very busy ma'am."

"Did I ask what he was doing? I said I want to talk to him."

Another soldier says something and a moment later a portal appears out of it appears Percy or Riptide.

"Sup?" He asks casually.

I roll my eyes. "You gonna tell me what's going on?"

"Wars the usual. Except this one is coming here. Barriers need to be up. Enemies are coming to destroy the planet."

"Why?"

"Someone wants to destroy the universe. And I really need to go."

I give a sigh. "Are barriers going to be enough?"

He doesn't answer. He then tilts his head as if listening to something I can't hear. He frowns and puts a hand to his ear.

"Alpha! The planet it about to be attacked and you are worried about ice cream! Why can't we give the job back to Nico!" He groans. A short pause. "You burned his hair off Luke! Of course he hates you!"

Percy rolls his eyes seemingly finished with his conversation. I sigh and step forward grabbing him in a hug which he returns. He then kisses me softly.

"No dying," I order. "Got it?"

"I'll do my best." He chuckles. I give him a look and he shifts a bit under my gaze, before stepping back through the portal.

I turn back to the campers. "Why are you still standing here! Someone get Chiron!"

Shadow POV

I dig my hand in the bag once again and pull out some fries popping them in my mouth.

"I can't believe they still have McDonalds," Jason says shaking his head.

"Happy Meals will never die," I answer. Percy had sent us to the gods to tell them about the war but I had to make a pit stop first.

We walk through Olympus and into the throne room. It's empty except for Zeus who sleeps on his throne. Jason then send a huge lightning bolt up.

A bunch of flashes of light later the gods arrive.

"Why did you summon us?" Demeter asks the groggy Zeus.

"What?" He mutters.

"I called you," Jason says. "Enemy ships are headed toward the planet."

"Protective barriers should be up by now," I add. "Any help you wish to give is much appreciated.

"You really shouldn't be eating that," Demeter says. "Cereal is much better than that fake food."

"There is another war starting and you are worried about my son's eating habits?" Dad groans.

"There is a second war. One between his body and that disgusting stuff he calls food."

"Are you helping or not?" Jason asks.

"War?" Ares shouts. "I'm in!"

Riptide POV

"Oh Hades no." I look away from the screen where my commanders are projected to see Ares walk in.

He stands along with my dad, Hades, Zeus, Apollo, Athena and Artemis.

Jason and Nico lead them.

"Problem?" I ask.

"I am not taking orders from you," he growls.

"You kind of have to," I remind him. "I'm kind of in charge here." He opens his mouth to protest but I cut him off. "Please continue but, I will remind you, I beat when I was twelve and a demigod. Now I'm next in line for the universe."

"If there is still a universe left," Perseus mutters.

"Aren't you full of sunshine?" Nico asks eating a chicken nugget.

"You better have bought me some McDonalds too," I warn. He stops mid bite. He laughs nervously and chucks the last bit of his Happy Meal into a shadow sending it elsewhere.

"What do you mean if there is a universe left?" Athena questions.

"You didn't explain it to them?"

"You said bring them. Not explain stuff," Jason tells me. I groan.

"You actually didn't explain anything to us either," Commander K reminds me.

"Can we play interrogate Riptide later!?" I shout. "We have an army ready to invade. Now. H I need your teams at the front taking the heaviest hits and holding them back. K I want you and your group to stop anyone from approaching the planet. X You're already stationed on the planet correct?"

"Yes, Sir."

"The Elite, gods and I will cut them off from the back. We will close in from all sides. And I want the Zeros to disable their long range weapons."

The Zeros... A very strange bunch. The misfits of the army who have a passion for making things go boom. Leo looks like a candle compared to these pyromaniacs. In my opinion I wouldn't hire hundred of these guys and keep them round for kicks but Chaos... I guess something has to entertain him.

"Oh, and Omega get a few people to watch our... Guest."

Luke nods.

"Good. Now-"

I am cut off by another person appearing in the room.

"Are you seriously trying to make a plan without me? You're brain must dying of effort." I hold back an eye roll as Annabeth, Hazel and Piper appear. Annabeth smiles as she twirls her dagger in her hand.

"I wouldn't dream of it," I say with an eye roll. "Are the barriers up?"

"Up, armed and ready," Hazel answers.

"Well, what are we waiting for?" Piper asks. "Let's kick some ass!"
