Tyson POV

I was avoiding her. I couldn’t help it; I was still shaken by my dream. Why did I have to dream of her? It’s got to be all those jokes Jimmie and Joe were making yesterday. Yeah, that was it! It was their fault: they’d messed with my head. It wasn’t like I actually wanted Alex.

I was so distracted by these pesky thoughts about the brunette that I wasn’t paying any attention to where I was going. As a result, I bumped someone in the shoulder as I was passing them by.

“Ouch!” I heard a girl’s peeved voice. “Watch where you’re…” She started angrily but stopped when she saw it was me. Her irritation disappeared and was replaced with a seductive look.

“Sorry,” I muttered and tried to walk around her but she put her hand on my chest to stop me.

“That’s okay!” She reassured me with a flirty smile. “I wasn’t paying attention myself. It’s Tyson, right?” I nodded. “I’m Gloriana.”

Gloriana POV

“I’m Gloriana.” I told him, smiling invitingly. “But you can call me Glory.”

Finally! This gorgeous bad boy was going to be mine. A fine catch by my standards. I smiled imagining the faces of the other students when they saw us together; they would be so jealous!

I waited for him to start flirting with me… all the boys did that. But Tyson seemed distracted by something. So I decided to give the boy a hint.

“So, Tyson… Did you really bump into me by accident or were you trying to start a conversation?” I asked, biting my lip. Whatever the case was, I was expecting him to take the bait and respond with something like “I wanted to get your attention” or “how can I not notice such a hot girl”. My jaw dropped when he answered curtly:

“Accident.”

I was momentarily stunned but I got a grip on myself and putting on a pout I continued.

“Oh! And here I thought you were going to ask me out.” I batted my eyelashes at him.

He kept quiet. Guessing I should change my tactics, I did something I’d never done before: I asked him out.

He said no.

Tyson POV

Another girl asked me out. I declined. Why did I do that? This Gloriana (that was her name, right?), she was hot. She had curves in all the right places. Her tits were too big for my liking, but she had a nice ass.

Not as nice as Alex’s.

Alex… Alex, Alex, Alex! Why is everything about Alex lately?

I turned round the corner and guess who I saw?

Alex!

Only, she wasn’t alone; she was with Angel. They had their arms linked at the elbows. They were so close to each other.

Too close!

Angel said something, winked at her and they both laughed.

I turned around and walked in the direction I’d just came from. I searched for that Glory chick and found her rummaging through a locker not far from where I’d left her. She didn’t notice me so I grabbed her and turned her around.

“Friday.” I said a bit too aggressively.

She looked taken aback.

“Give me your address and I’ll come pick you up.”

A self-satisfied smile grassed her full lips.

Alex POV

“Hey, Angel! Are we still on for Saturday?”

“I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Not after I’ve seen the way you dance.”

I’ve liked dancing since I was a little kid. I’ve never taken a single class but I’ve been dancing for so long I could pass for a pro. Just like fighting, it helped me relax. So naturally, one night I went to the local club to vent off some frustration. And guess who I ran into there?

Angel.

We started dancing together. Turnsed out the boy was just as good as me. That was why we decided to do it again when he wasn’t working. It had been a while since I’ve had a skillful partner. Plus, Angel and I had clicked together from the beginning. We didn’t hang around each other much, but he was quickly becoming one of my closest friends. He was just such a nice guy; you couldn’t help but like him.

“Do you think we’ll be able to persuade Ty to come along?” I asked hopefully and Angel laughed.

“Good luck with that! I’ve been going to the club ever since I got my fake ID but I only managed to drag him there on very few occasions.”

“Oh!” I exclaimed a little disappointed.

Why was I disappointed? Was it because lately we’d been getting on better? Since we became “parents”, the two of us were on speaking terms. Well, it was more on shouting terms, but somehow it wasn’t that bad. Even though we were still fighting, something had changed; something was different from how we’d acted when we first met.

“And one of you has to take care of Tallie,” Angel added, forcing me to concentrate back on our conversation.

“I can hire a babysitter. I’ll do it if that’s what it takes to get Tyson to come along.”

“I don’t know… I guess if we both try to convince him… I still wouldn’t hold my breath though. I wish it could be easy; the boy needs a break.”

“And he’s getting one even if he doesn’t want to! It’s like you said: if we both work together…” I linked our elbows, “and with a lot of prayers to every single deity out there, miracles will happen!”

Angel laughed.

“You’re a really stubborn person, aren’t you, Alex?” He asked, stating the obvious.

“And you’re a really nice guy, aren’t you, Angel?” I questioned, imitating him.

“Nope. That’s just a disguise. The truth is…” he lowered his voice as if he was sharing a secret and I saw a playful glint in his blue eyes, “… I’m really a big scary beast on the inside.” He winked at me and we both burst out laughing.

“Now, ” he continued, “what’s our strategy to get to Tyson?”

“Well, usually my strategy would be to ask nicely, but we both know that’s not going to work on your bestie. After that I would either go for blackmail… Do you have anything on that boy?” Angel shook his head. “Neither do I. My other method of conviction would be to threaten that I would beat him up…”

Angel laughed.

“No offense, Alex, but I don’t think that’s going to work on him.”

“Well, the night is going to be dedicated to a band he likes, so I’m guessing that will help…”

“We have to skip the part that it’s going to be a wet party though; he wouldn’t like that!”

“I’ve been meaning to ask you about that. What do they mean by a “wet party”?”

“To make a long story short: the club has one of those automatic fire sprinkler systems. One night it got bugged and the water started pouring down. Most of the people who were dancing there seemed to enjoy it and the owner decided to use that as a marketing trick so every now and then the club would host wet parties with the sprinklers turning on at some point.”

“Sounds good to me. But you’re right: Tyson will probably hate it.” I let out a grunt. “You know him better, Angel; you think of something!”

“I’ll work on it.”

“You better!” I muttered.

I really wanted Ty to come!
