Steve tapped his foot twice lightly on the door as he pushed it open, the tune of the guitar strings being plucked in perfect rhythm still bouncing around within his head.

He'd gone on a trip into town seeking ingredients for Brine's cooking so he didn't have to summon everything, as well as a few puzzles to entertain himself with, and on his way out of the local grocer, he had discovered an event out on the street. It appeared to be a festival of some sort, celebrating the harvest, apparently, and had all sorts of things about. There were stalls selling overpriced food, strange wares like necklaces and stones, and a crowd watching a band work away at their instruments. It was loud, cold, and it smelled as though everyone was a drink away from alcohol poisoning, but he noticed a behavior he hadn't quite seen before in real life. People were *dancing*, and not just in that ridiculous free-style manner. No, actual, precise, slow and romantic ballroom dancing. He'd found himself paused outside that festival for a good ten minutes, watching three songs go by as these people elegantly moved around and laughed when their tipsiness caught up with them.

Steve brought that music home with him in his head, and he'd been stumbling along the path to the house while his mind showed him image after image of the spins and dips and shimmies these people had expertly performed. He set the reusable stiff cloth bags on the countertop and glanced around the open dining room, kitchen, living room in search of the beautiful man he claimed as his boyfriend, and called out for him when his visual search had turned up no response.

"Brine?"

The god in question never took longer than a second to appear whenever his beau called for his presence, and he announced his arrival to the sweet human by hugging him from behind like normal, gazing over the bags of groceries as he wrapped his arms around Steve's torso. Steve patiently waited for his observation of the items to end before he spoke up again, but his prepared statement was cut off.

Brine's face contorted into a mix of guilt and honest confusion. "I didn't think I had asked this much of you. You should have called me to help carry it." He set his head down on top of his human's and hugged his body a little tighter.

Used to this man's guilt over everything, Steve already had a response raring to go when he stopped talking. "It wasn't that much, you know. It looks like a lot, but it really wasn't that bad."

The older male's throat vibrated as he hummed, which rubbed oddly on the back of Stevie's head, and made him smile from the weird feeling that managed to tickle his scalp through his hair. He softly asked, "What's on your mind, my love? I can see so much in your thoughts--Its a mess in there."

"I want to try dancing," he responded within the instant he heard the question, spouting his main request as immediately as he could. He gently pried Brine's grip off of him so he could turn around and look into those brilliantly pure eyes of his lover's to see how he was responding to his request.

The god's expression displayed a brief moment of shock, which quickly shifted to a look of joy. "I figured you would one day. I think you'll like it." Obviously pleased that this was coming up, he held a warm smile on his face as he turned Steve around and grabbed his left hand and held it out while he pulled his lovely human closer by the waist. "So, I'll hold you like this, and you can rest your right arm on my shoulder." He waited until the other had done so to continue instructions, "Alright, now follow my lead. It's a little difficult to get. Just try to do the opposite of what my feet are doing."

Steve nervously held on to Brine as he nodded, and gave a gentle "okay" to show that he was ready. The god took one step towards him, and he set the foot opposite that one backwards by a step and watched as his partner lined his other leg up with the first, but at a little more than shoulder-width. He followed the same action, and then put his first foot back with the other with almost a feeling of relief. It was more comfortable like this, not having his feet venturing to new places, but they barely spent any time there, as now Brine was putting his right foot back, and was pulling him forward to encourage him to step forward and fill the space. Unsteady as he was, Steve stepped again and bumped his head into his patient lover, looking up to find his brilliantly white eyes watching his every movement and thought as he continued moving in almost a box shape. He was clumsy and uncertain of his steps for a while, but his significant other was calm and didn't laugh or criticize his cluelessness, which he was comforted to notice. After a while, he began to hear a faint sound in his ears, like the classical music that played at the festival. A smile appeared on his face, and he looked up at Brine, finally confident enough in his ability to not trip over himself to give his lover a smile of appreciation. The response he got was another smile, and a bit of a jarring tug on his back that pulled him flush against the god's chest.

"You're alright, there's no difference. Just keep dancing," Brine encouraged his precious creature, still following slowly to the music he was giving to the both of them and holding him close to himself. "See, you've got it. Nothing to worry about."

Steve chuckled softly at the encouragement, feeling like a child accomplishing something minor and unimportant, though he was happy to have it down. They were so perfectly in sync like this; stepping together but doing different things; breathing as if they shared the same lungs; waltzing together like the perfect, precious, infallible couple they were.

"I'm glad you asked, Steve. This is lovely."

The human's first reaction was to laugh again, because he was thinking the exact same thing, and his second was yo smile lovingly and nuzzle his companion's chest with a soft hum of agreement. He was surprised to feel Brine's lips press into the well-kept mess of hair on his hair, and smiled as he heard a quiet voice say, "I love you."

Steve chimed up with a cheery and yet calm voice, "I love you too, Muffin."
