Solving a high-profile case doesn't come painlessly to even one of the best police officers the Mumbai Police have. ACP Neil Khanna, the sharp-witted officer who had more than forty cases to his credit, could not even garner a single clue to the mysterious murder of an MLA.

Not only his senior officials but also the media didn't let the guy breathe since the past one week. He had become an insomniac. Rummaging through the phone records, photographs, n number of files, interrogating every possible suspect to get a single clue, but, all his efforts were proved futile. He was searching for a silver lining in the cloud, but all that he got was sheer disappointment.

He was frustrated. He was agitated. He tried to conceal the havoc created in his life, from his dear wife, Avni, who was out of town for a week.

Avni had gone to attend her College Alumni meet, and since her friends forced her to stay there for a few more days, she gave in to their demand. That is how her two-days trip turned into a week-long vacation.

He was angry at Avni for leaving him for a week when all that she told him was two days. He was not complying with her demand for staying there for five more days, but how could he resist her puppy face over a video call?

Now, he was regretting it. There was a risk to the lives of the family members of the officers who were trying to find the assailant, and he feared that Avni's life could be in danger. Added on to this was that Avni's phone was coming "switched-off". He feared something wrong.He checked the details of the flight which Avni was supposed to board this morning, from Delhi to Mumbai. He found that the plane had landed 4 hours ago. He tried her phone again, but, it was switched off.

He instantly ran home to check whether she is there or not and what he saw next sent a shiver down his spine...
