"What did I lack that you forgot our love, Maharaj?" Maharani Nayantara sobbed looking at her husband.

"I have not forgotten anything Nayantara. Your place still remains the same in my heart. You will always be my first wife. You will be my chief queen. No one will take away the title of Maharani from you." The King said.

Maharani Nayantara went and sat down on the bed in her room looking at the man she loved.

The man whom she had wedded.
The man who was her husband.
The man who betrayed her.

She suddenly started laughing as if she had gone mad.

She stood up and walked towards him, still laughing, and started walking around him in circles and then, started clapping, "Wow! The great Maharaj Anshuman is telling his wife that no one can take my place. Do you think I have married you for the title of the chief queen? You have proved that you are only your father's son, Maharaj."

Maharaj Anshuman stood still at his place. He knew he had committed a mistake.

A grave mistake.

He had married a second woman when he had promised to be faithful to his first wife by taking up monogamy.

He had become an image of his father.

He clenched his eyes shut.

"I can never in my life forget the sin you have committed your highness. There will come a day where you will beg for this Nayantara's love, that day you will understand how wronged I feel," Nayantara said.

"Will you not welcome the new queen?" Maharaj Anshuman asked his first wife.

"Jyotsna! Go and get the puja plate. Today, Maharani Nayantara will welcome her co-wife, her Sautan." The Queen said to her chief maid.

Maharani Nayantara is waiting for her husband to come back from his royal conquest of winning over the neighboring territories. When he arrives, he brings with him a changed life for Nayantara.

He brings a co-wife!

This was the time of kings and queens.

The times when legends and legacies existed.

This was the time when women had to keep quiet when their husbands took other wives.

Will Nayantara keep quiet?

Will she sacrifice her rights to another woman who claimed she was perfect for her husband?
