Anakin wasn't adjusting well to your position in being his new padawan. You could tell. However, you could tell that he was in fact trying, but it just didn't seem to be working out for him.

On the ride back to the Jedi Temple, the air was very awkward. He tried asking you things on how you thought the mission went, or he gave advice on techniques during another mission like that or asked you random questions like who your favorite master was to train with while you were waiting for a new and permanent master.

You felt bad for him, you really did. Especially with what he went through. You had sympathy for him, as you knew you had lost a master, and he lost a padawan. It was a very similar situation. But for some reason, he was having a harder time adjusting than you were.

"Alright, time to go to the Council to give our mission report, " Anakin mumbles glumly, which snaps you out of your thoughts.

You climb out of the seat and grab your Jedi robe and throw it over you as you follow behind Anakin and R2-D2.

---

"Welcome back Anakin and (Y/N). We're glad to see you come out alive, " master Plo-Koon greets the both of you, as you enter the largely lit Council room, surrounded by the view of the city sky.

"Thank you, " Anakin says, as you both take a bow simultaneously.

Windu folds his hands together and looks at you both. "You're here for the mission report, yes?"

You and Anakin nod. "Yes sir."

"Good. Please, give us the overall status of the mission."

"Well, we arrived on Moraband and rode our bikes to the Temple. We opened the Temple using the Force, and we arrived inside. Immediately we tracked the tracking beacons and found nothing. They were sitting in the Sith throne room by themselves. There were no scouts in sight. Just the beacons. "

"That's very interesting... I wonder what could've happened to them, " Obi-Wan says as he strokes his beard.

"We have no clue. We couldn't find them. " Anakin looked down sadly as if he was disappointed in himself.

You on the other hand still had your doubts. You really didn't think the Jedi had sent out scouts but had sent out beacons instead just to test the two of you. That's what the Jedi had been doing your whole life--testing you. Why would they stop now?

"Anyway, eventually I found the holocron and the whole Temple started to collapse and we ran out of there, and we made our way back here."

"That's it? That's all that happened?" Windu inquired, as he made a very doubtful face.

"Yes... That's all that happened. Is there anything else?"

"Yes actually." Windu glanced at you. "(Y/N), you look like you have something on your mind. Say it."

You never liked Windu. Mostly because he didn't like your master. Your master and Windu always had heated arguments about how to go on training you, and your master had always won them. So you had grown to dislike Windu. You were pretty sure that Windu disliked you back.

You didn't want to hold back. You wanted to let the Council know exactly what you were feeling." I just want to know if you were telling the truth or not. Did you really send Jedi scouts to Moraband? Or were you just testing us?"

Anakin glanced at you and rose his eyebrows in shock.

"I don't know, did anything else happen on that trip?" Windu remarked, now glaring at you.

"No. " you snapped, glaring back at him. "Then I guess there were actually scouts there?"

"Correct."

You knew it. Of course there weren't scouts there. If you would have told the truth, he would have done the same. But instead, you both lied. That was what truly happened.

"Well!" Obi-Wan nervously laughed and clapped his hands and stood up to save this tense situation. "I suppose that concludes the mission report. Thank you, Anakin and (Y/N)."

"Uh... Of course. If you ever need us, we'll always be available, " Anakin says awkwardly, as he takes a bow, and you follow suit.

You both turn and made your way to the elevator and let the doors slide together.

"I admire your bravery, " Anakin chuckles and looks down at you with one of his eyebrows raised in an entertained manner.

You shrugged. "It comes with the package."

Anakin laughs and shakes his head. "I know they're not the greatest people in the world, but from personal experience, I suggest you respect all of them fully. You do not want to be on one of the Council member's bad side. Trust me. Nevertheless, I thought they were playing us too, and your question confirmed it. I think they all knew they messed up once you asked that."

"Yeah. I respect them, I just like to question their thought process sometimes. I hardly ever believe what they're doing is right. Sometimes I wish I wasn't in the Jedi Order so I can actually apply the Jedi Code to the real world, and use my knowledge to help regular people, y' know?" You say solemnly, as the elevator doors slide open.

Anakin takes a step outside of the elevator and you follow behind him. "Yeah, I know what you mean. Sometimes I wish I could leave the Order too. "

There it was again. That wishing to leave the Order. Why? You were so curious as to why he wanted to as well. What was his problem? Sure, he had gotten some hate from the Council before, but he was praised for the most part. In fact, it was him and Obi-Wan who got the most praise from all of the victories of the war. Anakin was the poster-boy for the war. What could be troubling him?

"Why? Why would you want to leave the Order?" You stop and cross your arms in front of him.

He shrugs and looks down at the ground. You could see a smirk forming on his lips as he looks back up at you. "Sometimes I just don't appreciate people telling me what to do." And with that, he brushed past your shoulder as he left, which made you roll your eyes.

Of course, that was his answer. You weren't sure if you could get used to his bravado.
