HIS SUICIDAL GIRL
❝I met the guy with his smile when my pen started to phlebotomize, and my fate has begun writing a new story.❞

03 - Training Day (Part 2)

[•][•][•][•][•][•][•][•][•][•]

•XIAMIN•

Lunch break has finally come and Bea decided to go back to her classroom to eat. It was also a good thing that I was able to remember her name.

"Aren't you gonna eat?" Zachrey asked me.

"Later, I still have to wait for my mom. She'll bring me my lunch," I answered. He looked at me. "Just eat first. I'll be fine."

"Okay, let's eat." I just nodded to him.

Nasa office naman si Ma'am Jehr kumakain. May ilang teachers naman dito sa loob pero kami lang dalawa ni Zachrey ang estudyante.

Ma'am Jehr took her lunch in her office. There were quite a few teachers with us but the only students were Zachrey and me.

"I thought you were going to take your lunch in your classroom." He looked so famished, though. Besides, their classes start so early, so I could not blame him.

"Nah, I'll just stay here. I'm so famished and our building is too far from here" I just nodded to him.

It could not be helped. Why do we have to suffer this shifting, anyway? Technically, I do not have any problems with my schedule for now since I got used to it. Our classes starts at ten am to seven pm. Good but dangerous because we go home late at night.

Amidst of thinking about it, I just sighed when I remembered something and said, "Good for you, it's not a big deal for you that I call my parents Mommy and Daddy."

He looked at me.

"Why would it be a big deal?"

"Dunno. The others would often say that I'm a rich kid because of it. Duh! It's not an issue at all. It's just annoying sometimes, you know! Just because I call my parents that doesn't mean I'm well-off."

"Chill."

"I am, Zachrey." I released a heavy sigh again. Perhaps, I am famished.

"You're hungry, aren't you?" I did not hesitate to nod. "Don't even think about it. It's just a perception of most of the people. Here in the Philippines, only rich kids call Mommy and Daddy to their parents, so you can't blame them if they call you one."

I sighed for the third time.

"Perhaps you're ri─"

"Xiamin."

I was shocked to look behind me when I heard a voice.

"M-Mommy!" I quickly stood up and showed my respect. "How did you get in here? I thought I'd just get my lunch at the school gate?"

"Relax." She winked at me.

The teachers' inside the classroom immediately greeted her like she was one of them.

So, that's how she got in. I nearly forgot that she can get rid of almost everything and can get along with everyone in just a snap. I wish I had such high confidence like her, though.

I sat back on my chair and started eating my lunch. If Zachrey had not moved here by my side, I would have forgotten him.

"Oh! Uh, Mom, this is Zachrey, by the way," I looked at Zachrey. "Zachrey, my mom."

Zachrey said "Hi!" to Mom and she just answered him with a nod.

Eventually, Zachrey and I became awkward. He just remained silent because Mom and I were the only ones talking. I tried talking to him sometimes so he would not be bored somehow even though he had a cellphone.

"Thank you for bringing my lunch here, Mommy." I kissed her on the cheek after I ate my lunch. It tastes good when she cooks.

"No problem. So, I'll go on ahead of you two, okay?" I nodded and she said waved goodbye to the teachers.

I sighed after that.

"You know, you're mom made me anxious a little," Zachrey said suddenly.

"Eh? Why?" I asked him.

"No offense, but she looks kind of aloof. I was sort of scared to death." I scoffed at him.

Mommy is kind. But of course, like most of us, she is just kind to those who also treat her the same way.

I noticed that it was almost one pm, so I fixed myself a bit. Technically, I do not usually care about how I look. No, do not get the wrong idea. What I meant was, I just loathe acting like other women doing nothing but looking in the mirror and always wearing lip tint and makeup. They could even outgrow the teachers because of their sense of fashion.

"You okay?" Zachrey asked which I only answered with a nod.

A few minutes later, Ma'am Jehr entered.

"Zachrey and Xiamin, did you eat well? Where's Bea?"

"She ain't here, yet, Coach. Want me to go fetch her?" Zachrey suggested.

"Sure, because I'll give you all something to do as part of your training as young campus journalists," Ma'am Jehr said with full determination in her eyes, so I just laughed.

Zachrey was about to leave the classroom when I suddenly stopped him.

"Why?"

I stood up and said, "I'll go with you." He just nodded at me.

As we walked into Bea's classroom, we stopped when Zachrey walked passed with someone she knew. The person was also tall but Zachrey was taller, and the guy was wearing eyeglasses.

"Hi, Dude! How was your training?" They performed a fist bump.

"Hello, Dude! Doing great. How about the class?"

Frankly, they just keep talking as if I never existed. I just rolled my eyes in irritation.

Hello? I still exist, you know!

My mind wanted me to say that to them but decided not to. Instead, I just cleared my throat and the two of them looked at me. It would be great if they thought I was a killjoy or what.

"Seriously, I don't want to break your conversation but we need to go. We still have a lot of things to do. " I gave Zachrey a meaningful look and raised a brow at him.

"Wow, Dude! Who is she? She's aloof." Zachrey elbowed his stomach and also cleared his throat.

Well, sorry for being an aloof girl.

"She's with me, Cj. He is also a journalist like me," The man whom he called "Cj" just nodded. Though, I could still see that he was still hurt because of what Zachrey did to him. 'She's a Yandere, so I won't mess up with her if I were you."

I glared at him not because he called me a "Yandere" and because of that, he laughed at me.

"Yanderes are cool. Nice to meet you..."

"Crystal, and nice to meet you, too, Cj." I bowed a little as if I was in Japan.

"Okay, then, Crystal. Take care of Zachrey─"

"No, I won't. He's already an adult. He can take care of himself." Over my dead body. Why the hell would I babysit him?

"W-Well, see you around, then!" He waved at me. "Dude."

Zachrey just nodded and after that, he left. I started walking and leaving him behind.

"H-Hey, Xia! Wait for me!"

"Don't call me that, Zachrey," I warned him.

"It's cute, you know." We stopped when we reached Bea's classroom.

We saw Bea cleaning, so we waited for her to finish.

"Let me remind you that my name Xiamin is pronounced as 'sha-min'. It's a very nice name so," I glared back at him. "don't you dare destroy it with just a mere nickname."

I noticed how he gulped, so I turned my attention back to Bea who was still cleaning.

"Well, let me remind you as well that Xia is pronounced as 'Sia'. As in like Sia Furler. It's cute, don't you think?" He laughed. What an idiot.

I just did not answer him. Also, it was such good timing that Bea had just finished cleaning. She saw us and came to us immediately.

"Big Sister Xiamin! Big Brother Zachrey!" she called out to us.

"Yo, 'sup!"

"Ma'am Jehr's been looking for you. She wants us to do something," I said. I noticed how her expression changed. "What's wrong, Bea?"

"Y-You know..." she faltered. "I-I'm still not done with my articles. I just c-can't face Ma'am Jehr when I still have some unfinished articles."

Zachrey and I looked at each other. He nodded.

"Alright, we won't force you. Just come to the classroom if you're ready, okay? You need to clear things up a bit." I cocked my head to point it at her classmates who were occupied dealing with a lot of school works. "You also have a lot of things to do. But listen to me, Bea, you have to manage your time. "

She was surprised at what I said. Then, she nodded, eventually. I also nodded to Zachrey and we left.

"Is it me, or you're good with kids?" The guy flashed me a smile.

"I was just doing what I think was best, Zachrey, and I can understand her. Students who are rin Section A also has manifold things to deal with."

"Well, I suppose, you're right."

Yes, students do a lot of school works. But it is different when you belonged to Sections A and B. We were the last batch who did not reach the Special Science Class or SSC, so Section A was the highest among our section.

We were so stressed in our batch. Homeworks here, homeworks there; projects here, projects there; reportings here, reporting there. Seriously? There was no end to all of it. We do not have a proper rest. What I find most frustrating is that many teachers expect so highly of us.

It is alright if a teacher expects something from you but to the point that they expect too much? I disagree. They expected too much from us and if we fail, we get bawled out. It was just so wrong. Can we not live like regular students?

"Xiamin, are you still with us?"

"Y-Yes, Ma'am?"

Zachrey and Ma'am Jehr looked at each other.

"You weren't listening." She sighed.

"Are you okay?" Zachrey asked. I just nodded idly as an answer. "You don't look like it."

"My apologies. Could you repeat what you guys were talking about?" Ma'am Jehr just nodded.

"I said, I want you and Zachrey to gather pieces of information about what happened at the Robotics Competition. Ask Carckie and the siblings Eldar and Janpouhl. Also, interview the coaches Ma'am Maria and Ma'am Legazpi. If you can't do that now, you can do it tomorrow. After that," She looked at her wristwatch. "write an article about it. It's up to you how you write it. Just write to me something worth reading for. "

We just nodded. Wow! We did not do this last year, so I got exhilarated.

"Okay, you may go now." Zachrey and I nodded and left the classroom.

I just sighed. The weather was warm but at least, it was not raining. It would be more hassle if it was raining. There are also a lot of students at Kamiya High. It was pretty crowded, yet fun. I made so many memories here.

"Hey, Xia!" Zachrey surprised me so much that I almost fell down the stairs. Good thing he grabbed me right away.

"T-Thanks." I was flabbergasted. My face flushed. It was a good thing that Zachrey was with me.

"Be honest with me, Xia," He looked at me with a straight face. "You were spacing out. You sure you're okay?"

"Never better," I smiled to convince him. "so let's go. I'm not close with those two."

I was totally fine. I just have a lot to think about. Moreover, I am not close Carckie and Eldar. As far as I know, they are best friends. Eldar was my classmate and many girls were crazy for him.

I can not deny it because he is indeed debonaire. When I look at him in his side-view, I see my ultimate crush, Vernon of Seventeen in him. However, I do not want to think about him having the same looks like my dear Vernon. No way!

Just then, biglang may pumasok sa isipan ko.

"Hey, Zachrey? Is it me, or the name Carckie is... outlandish?"

"I agree. According to Coach, that's a combination of his parents' names." I just nodded to him.

I stopped walking so Zachrey stopped, too.

"What's up?" he asked.

"You talk to them. You're more famous and sociable than me. I'll just wait here. " I went behind him and pushed him forward softly.

"Hey, Xia! I don't k─"

"You can do it. Just call me when you're done with them. " I smiled at him and just stayed on the edge.

He just sighed and started to go in their direction to start interviewing them. It was up to him on how to talk to them now. I was too embarrassed to talk to them. My face is not that thick.

I tilted my head to look at the clear sky. It was so serene, I hope the world is as well. Manifold various kinds of things have been going on in the world right now. Society may be cruel at times but it still deserves to be protected.

I looked back at Zachrey who was already talking to Carckie and Eldar. Sometimes I wonder if I deserve Section A. Basically, I did not do anything. I just do not understand why I feel like sometimes, I do not deserve Section A.

But God has a plan. Always. He must have a reason why he put me in this section.

"You're spacing out again."

"What the hell, Zachrey?!" I jumped in surprise. "Can't you be more careful when you talk to me?!"

"Sorry, Madam Xia. I just wanted to tell you that I'm done interviewing them. I can see smoke frothing out of your head."

"I told you not to call me that." I walked passed through him. "Let's go back to the room first. I'm exhausted. Let's just tell Ma'am Jehr that we're going to interview the Robotics coaches later."

"How about Eldar's brother?"

"He can wait."

"Okay, your call." After we went down from the second floor, I saw my classmate JP carrying a bunch of props, presumably for our Math Dance competition.

"Hey, Crystal!" He smiled at me. Then, he looked at Zachrey. "Who is he, 'Tal? Your boyfriend?"

I was not able to answer him because he left quickly. Leshe! Zachrey and I both felt awkward.

"Wew. What was that?" He diverted his gaze at me.

My face suddenly turned red.

"D-Don't mind h-him!" I walked quickly after that.

I heard his laugh, so I could not help but smile. The two of us became close to each other.

When we went back to the classroom, Ma'am Jehr was just right there in the place where we last left her, waiting.

"Ma'am, here are the infos from our interview." Zachrey handed over the paper full of pieces of information about the Robotics Competition to her.

"We didn't interview Janpouhl and the coaches because we think those infos are enough," I said. "Besides, we got exhausted."

"This is indeed a lot. Can you do this topic? " She looked at us as if she were doubting us.

"Yes, Ma'am!" Zachrey and I answered in unison.

Ma'am Jehr nodded and then left us again in the room so we could concentrate on writing. It can not be blamed. She was a busy teacher, after all.

"Where do you think could Bea be?" asked Zachrey as he prepared his belongings.

"Maybe she's still trying to clear things up." I started preparing my stuff as well so that I could start writing, too.

He just shrugged his shoulders.

"Anyway, Xia─"

"You call me that again and I'm going to pierce the ballpoint of my pen in your face."

"Woah, chill! What a sadistic yandere you are." He half-raised his hands on the air as if he was surrendering.

I rolled my eyes as I started writing my article. Zachrey was so impossible.

"You're an idiot, you know that?" I said. "Anyways, the Math Dance competition is tomorrow, right? Good luck in advance to all of you. "

I felt his gaze on me, so I stopped writing. I looked at him and raised my eyebrows.

He just shook his head and smiled. He then continued writing his article. I just ignored it and just continued writing as well.

I admit, he was weird. But at the same time, he was cute that way.
