In my country, there is a proverb” No teacher, no success” and everyone almost agrees with it. The teacher has an important role in the way of studying and the success we get in our life.  And they also give us the basic knowledge which is helpful to our future. I think that learning with a good teacher is better than self-study although some people don’t think so.

Firstly, teachers bring with them varied and useful background. They’ve taught us with a great knowledge and experiences and good advice. There’re many books to choose, teacher will help you to choose the best book.

Secondly, we can not learn anything just by ourselves. Actually, we can learn something simple and ordinary by ourselves but it is always best to have a teacher to understand something more complex. The teacher has been trained to teach individuals in different ways depending on their style. For example, some students can learn better by discussing a topic but others do more by writing about it or learning a particular subject by heart. Teachers can give the suitable explanation to each student. A textbook or a manual only provides students with knowledge and information without showing the method of taking full advance of it. To learn the subject from the teacher and ask for explanation of unclear points are very important to common education. Information which is given by the teacher is more reliable and students who attend the class benefit the advantage of asking the lecture about the difficult things.

In addition, students can improve the perception about the topic and subject by the teacher. With an endless source of help and advice which the teacher gives will help us to learn faster.

Besides giving information about the lesson, the teacher also provides us with a lot of experiences of living, which we can not find anywhere. He gives us not only how to learn but also how to succeed in our life. On the others hand, learning a subject on your own sometimes bores you and makes you become lazy and go on other activities. The teacher keeps you paying more attention to the subject.

To sum up, it is always necessary to have a teacher. It is the shortcut for us to succeed faster. However, I think that learning with the teacher and self-study should be combined together because self-study makes the student more energetic and active. Further more self-study becomes more important when the student wants to have an MA or a PhD’s degrees.

Some employers reward member of staff for their exceptional contribution to the company by giving them extra money. This practice can act as an incentive for some but may also have a negative impact on others. To what extent is this style of management effective?
