First meeting in a taxi? (845 words)

---

"Great. Just great." I muttered angrily as I looked up at the sky to see huge snowflakes fall down to the ground.

It was already bad luck that my car had broken down earlier in the day, but now I was running late to my parents' 25th wedding anniversary and I was forced to walk there in my super uncomfortable heels and my not-so-warm white blazer that I had on over my rose laced dress.

Luckily, there was a taxi driving up to where I was, so I whistled at the driver and raised my hand to get his attention. I carefully jogged up to the car and opened the door to see someone also get in.

"Um, excuse me! But, I believe that I called the taxi first!" I glared at the gentleman as we both climbed into the car.

"Uh, unless I'm wrong, but I caught their attention in the first place!" The gentleman started to argue back and I scoffed at him.

"Where are we headed off to today, sir and ma'am?" The taxi driver looked at us through the rear-view mirror.

"I have to get to the Italian restaurant that's on 109 Avenue NW..." I spoke and the gentleman spoke afterwards.

"I have to get to the Rexall Place in the next 15 minutes or I'll be in very big trouble..." He looked at the driver and then me.

"Oh yeah? I'm already running late for my parents' 25th wedding anniversary party by at least a half hour!" I fumed at him and he scowled at me.

"I'm running 45 minutes late to my event!" He bickered with me and I was ready to have a throwdown with him.

"The distance between the two is about 15 minutes...And when are your events ending by?" The taxi driver looked at us for some answers and we both sighed.

"Well, the dinner for me ends in about oh, 10 minutes..." I sighed as I looked down at my watch.

"And my event ends in 5 minutes...Well, looks like I'm getting benched for the game tomorrow..." He sighed as he looked at the time on his phone and my head whipped up to look at him.

"Game?" I looked at him in surprise and his eyes widened.

"You don't know who I am?" He looked a little dejected at me before I covered my mouth with my hands.

"You're Connor McDavid, aren't you?" I whispered to him quietly so I wasn't making a big fool out of myself.

"In the flesh, that's me." He smirked at me while I rolled my eyes.

"Well, as long as we're introducing ourselves to each other, I'm Y/N L/N," I smiled at him and outstretched my hand for him to shake.

"It's very nice to meet you, Y/N." He nervously giggled at me and I laughed awkwardly. "Since we're both too late to show up to our events, how about we go to the little café that's about 5 minutes away from here and get to know each other a little better?"

"Sure, I'd love that, Connor."

"And that is the story of how your father and I met for the first time..." I smiled and looked down at my smiling children and we heard a voice coming from the doorway.

"Are you telling them the story of the first time we met in that taxi where we fought over about where to go?" Connor smirked as he leaned against the doorway and I giggled as I nodded my head.

He walked over to where the kids and I sat and kissed their foreheads and my cheek.

"So, you and Mommy met in a taxi?" Our daughter looked at us while she was playing with her stuffed animal we got her from the time we went to Build-A-Bear.

Connor nodded his head and our sons giggled, "you didn't who Dad was until he mentioned himself?"

"Well, to be honest, I was very angry at your dad in the first place because he thought he caught the taxi first..." I smirked at him and he rolled his eyes at me. "But, eventually time went on and we started to date, then after 4 years of dating, he proposed to me, we got married, and had you three adorable kids."

They giggled before Connor and I stood up from the bed and kissed them goodnight.

"Good night, kids!" Connor and I softly spoke as we tucked them into bed and turned off the lights and turned on the nightlight for them.

"Good night, Mommy. Good night, Daddy!" The kids softly mumbled as they started to fall asleep and we slowly walked out of the bedroom and walked back to our bedroom.

"I love you so much, Y/N," Connor mumbled as he came up behind me and gently kissed my shoulder as he wrapped his arms around my waist .

I turned around in his arms and wrapped my arms around his neck before I pressed my lips on top of his, "I love you too, Connor."
