NEW YEAR
Chrismas is for family . on the other hand, this holiday are usually for friends.
People gather at this time and “see in” at this time , they often drink a lot of alcohol .
If the song” happy new year ‘ is sung in USA . In Britain , people will sing the song “ Augh lang syne”
Another less common , the first person to visit a house  is supposed to arrive with token of certain important items for survival ( such as a lump of coal for the fire)
Most people go back to work and shool soon after new year
On 6 january , all Christmas decorations are taken down. Some people say it is bad luck to keep them up after this date .
New Year celebrations in British saw a lot of planning and preparation going in before the key day arrives. Traditionally, British New Year celebrations begins on New Year’s Eve, i.e. 31st December of the old year, and go on till the dawn of the New Year’s Day, i.e. January 1st of the New Year. Setting off fireworks is an important celebration tradition, which gained eminence in last few years.

As soon as church bell rings twelve at the midnight, these fireworks are set off. Also, people all around the place, whether in houses, streets or parties, wish and hug one another while spreading and celebrating immense cheer and joy associated . Also, tradition of sending gifts, presents, cards, flowers, cakes, and candles to near and dear ones have also gain immense popularity.
EASTER
It fall on a Sunday between 22 march and 25 april
This holiday is far less important than Christmas to most people in Britain. Although it involves a “4 day weekend” there are  very few customs and habits associated  with it .
Other than the consumtion of mountains of chocolate  eggs by children.an egg symbolize the birth of a new life.
Some people reserve the traditional of eating hot cruss buns with a  toasted and eaten with butter
Easter is a holiday and quite a lot of people go away at this time .specially they go to the seaside or go and watch one of the many sporting events, such as football or hourse racing .
MAY DAY
In Britain,the first Monday in May, as summer comes , people like to celebrate the end of the winter .
celebration include Morris dancing, crowing a May Queen and dancing around a Maypole
In some villages , the custom of dancing( Morris dance) is acted  out by children who wave their brightly colour searver into a beautiful pattern round a long pole( May pole).  A May girl is voted by  a children in the village in May day . Morris men can be seen in country areas calebrating traditional dances, waving their white hankenchiefs to drive away the evil spirit.
On May day , people use to cut down young tree and stick them in the ground in the village to mark the arrival of summer . people dance around the tree poles in the celebration of the end of the winter and the start of the fine weather that would allow planting to begin
HALLOWEEN
This holiday is celebrated on 31 Octobor . this is a day of fun for young people and children
In this time , other people gather together to watch horror films, either at home or at cinema
Some children go “treat or trick”_ this mean they dress up and go to the other people houses, knocking the door for treat of sweet or snack. People who don’t give out a treat may be trick with a joke
There are a lot of symbol to talking about Halloween. The colour orange and black are common. Other symbol include : pumpkin,withches,ghost ,characters from horror film. Animal is said about Halloween such as : black cat, the bat, the owl ..
April Fool Day
April begin with a day of fun and jokes
April fool day is occurred on 1 April. This is a day full of laughing . people play fractical jokes or tricks on other just for fun
April fool jokes involve persuading someone to do something silly
However you can only play April fool before midday , after that the fun must stop or the tricker is told: “ April fool day is a past and gone
                                       You are the fool and I am none”
GUY FAWKES DAY
Guy fawkes day is also known as Bonfire Nightand FireWorrk Night
At the time , the fature of the gunpower plot was celebrated as a vitory for  Protestantism over rebel Catholicism .
In the most part of the Britain,Catholic children celebrate it as devote as Protestant children.
As chrismas, this day are mainly for the benefit of child . some children make a “ guy” out of clothes stuffed with newspaper several week before hand . then , they  go some where on the street and ask passers by for a penny foe the guy . what they are usually asking for money to by fireworks
On Guy Fawkes Night , there are bonfire parties throughout the country , at which the guy is burn
Some people cook food in the embers of the bonfire , especially chestnuts of potatoes
So many fire works are set offthat , by the end of the evening, the air in all the British cities smells strongly of sulphur
