Seele Flashback:

I found myself diving deep. Into her memories.

Seele Point of view: Is that the girl that Matushka mentioned? They say she's an assassin who tried to kill Matushka. She doesn't look scary. Her face reminds me of a delicate porcelain doll. Oh dear she's sweating in her sleep... I should wipe it for her. "Kyaa!" She grabbed my arm. I fell forward, and tried to break my fall with my other arm. "Release her if you know what's good for you." Matushka's words stopped her. The girl studied her available options and finally chose to let me go. She was so fast... and her eyes... the killer's eyes... I forgot about how painful her grip was and hid behind Matushka's back.

"What's your name, little sniper?" Asked Cocolia. "Bronya." Answered the girl. I was nervous. This scary-looking girl was to be my roommate. Matushka continued to talk with her. "From now on, I'll be your Matushka." I've heard that line before. We're all Matushka's children... I gripped Matushka's skirt and tried to hide myself in her cape, but she pulled me out. "This blue-haired girl is Seele. She will show you to your room." Bronya finished the bread and soup in silence, and then stood up and left. I followed her quickly. I thought I was supposed to show her to her quarters...

(Seele showed Bronya to her new room). "Bronya, this is my... I mean... our room. Tell me if you need any help." Bronya said nothing. She walked to the window and stared out into the open. I didn't dare interrupt her like this. "Dry Bread." "Dry bread?" "Is there more of that? It goes well with milk , too." "Ah... you're still hungry? I'll grab some." She turned around to say something to me, but I feared her gaze and left the room quickly.

I came back with the bread and was surprised to find the window wide open. "Bronya! Bronya!" I heard something before I ran to Matushka. I looked out the window and found Bronya with a black kitten. Was she looking at the kitten just then? Bronya gazed at me. I couldn't avert my eyes in time. I was surprised when she smiled. "You looked really scared. Don't worry, I won't be running away. And... Matushka... Matushka..." She repeated that word over and over again. Was I seeing things? Her hard gaze softened. I poured the milk into a bowl. Bronya placed the bowl on the floor to feed the kitten. "Are you going to give it dry bread as well?" Bronya took the bread from me and sat beside the kitten. "No. This is for me." That's how I met Bronya for the first time.
