every day I wake up to rage ab game of thrones season seven. I loved the rest of the series but this is where D&D started getting ballsy after running out of books for basis.

It took me a while to figure out what... exactly... had changed with this season but I finally did it at 1 am so here we go

The most accurate way to describe it is that GOT S7 suffers from The Umbrella Academy syndrome in which instead of focusing on compelling narrative the show instead turns time and time again to "aesthetics". And I mean that in every way— aesthetic characterization, aesthetic shots, aesthetic conflict. Basically everything fits into a Trope Box and it becomes boring

But instead of where TUA has its charm in like, very fun action shots with good music, GOT can't do that because it's currently in a complex political tug-o-war and so it's just like. Laughable with how unserious everything is and there is 0 tension. It's boring. The minor conflicts that in previous seasons would snowball into larger consequences are now just trivial and inconsequential and fucking stupid.

Also the characterization sucks. Like for example they've turned Arya straight around into a girlboss badass and like. Cool I guess but also she is a child and a killer and spent the previous 6 seasons being incredibly vulnerable and. Yknow. A fucking child. And that is so much more compelling then just watching "girl with sword smirk and kill people" for an entire season. (arya sweetie I'm so sorry)

arya isn't a ruthless killer that's off the shits ready to chop some heads. her entire goal the previous seasons was to 1. find her family and 2. kill those who wronged her, her friends, or her family. its obvious she values her family over everything else so how the fuck are you going to make her continuously threaten her sister in season seven. she has no fucking reason to ??? At all ?.??.? Every conflict they try to create this season is just Bad and Forced and so stupid and easily solved. Arya should know cutting off lord's heads would also make them lose an army. She wouldn't belittle Sansa for things she did as a child stuck with the lannisters. It's just stupid it's so fucking stupid. I'm so mad don't even look at me

(Also I guess fun fact I hate TUA and I only finished it with my irl for the hate-watch/laughs. This is also apparently an unpopular opinion so maybe I'll make a point on that LMFAO)
