(You and I were on the same wavelength this week on this topic)

This post applies more for bl/mxm/bxb/mxb/yaoi/gay writers and it's something that I've been chewing on for a week or so and apparently I'm not the only one.

Why is it the male lead/mc is always friendless or only has one friend?  Why is it the best friend of gay guys, 95% of the time are FEMALE?  Don't they have any male friends?  There's nothing wrong with that but it's the most cliche thing out there.  Where are all the bros?  

On top of that why does she have to be the loudest, bossiest, most manipulative, selfish, unloyal little tart out there?  Her wants and needs supersede EVERYTHING the mc wants/thinks/feels.  She always guilt trips, peer pressures, coerces him into stuff - and not to his benefit, I may add -and abandons him when he needs her.  His feelings and needs are never listened to and she acts like she knows what's best for him and like she is always right.  

She's not a friend.  She's a femdom wannabe and the mc is merely a companion she toys with and keeps around for her own whims.  Who needs a friend like that?  

Overbearing females in general annoy the hell out of me and I find it hard to like them whether I'm reading about them, watching them on tv, or seeing them in reality.
