The Legend

There was a boy named Hiccup from a distant land, Berk, where dragons were wild and fierce. Then he shot down a dragon during a raid one night. The next day he went in search of it. He found it and despite it being the most dangerous dragon of all, he tamed it. But when he shot the dragon down that day he inadvertently destroyed the dragons left tail fin, he later made a device allowing him to help the dragon fly again, but with every good deed there's a cost, the only way it would work is if there was a rider on the dragon to control the prosthetic fin. He and the dragon grew extremely close as time went on and he named the dragon Toothless. A week after taming dragons around his land, he battled a dragon known as Red Death. The boy won, but in the process he lost his lower left leg. From then on he and his dragon were inseparable. The boy grew into a man and he defeated another man named Drago Bloodfist. Years after the fight with Drago, another challenge awaited him. An unknown man threatened to destroy his home and kill all the dragons. He fought the unknown man and won, but this time the cost was his own life.

With his wife at his side he turned to her and spoke, "I love you Astrid and I will wait for you. We both will rise again when the world needs heroes again," He said looking at his beautiful wife. He then turned to his best friend Toothless and said, "and I want you to stay alive bud. Don't do anything to endanger your own life." He turned back to his wife. "All four of us will be together again when the world is in need of us." He soon passed. His people buried him in a tomb and engraved his name and story on the walls for future generations to find. His wife died five years later and was buried next to him.

You see, other than Hiccup and Astrid, no one knew that dragons were immortal as long as they weren't killed by mortal means. Hiccup's dragon Toothless and Astrid's dragon Stormfly stayed in their riders tomb, not leaving other than to eat, in hopes that one day their riders would some day return.

Over the years the land known as Berk has grown larger due to continental drift. The hero's tomb was eventually discovered along with Toothless and Stormfly. The dragons would never bother the people observing the tomb, but anyone caught trying to move, touch, or destroy the tomb in anyway would always be turned away. Not because of Toothless and Stormfly, but because of a fiery dragon that would scare them off. The tomb became a tourist attraction in the years that followed. No one but a select few were allowed in, but most were allowed to the entrance where they could see the dragons and the heroes tombs.
